Hey, I'm going to purchase the Babolat Pure Strike 16x19 (3rd Gen) and wanted to know whether the Confidential or the Hyper-G are better strings? Also, what tension and gauge would you guys recommend? Thanks

I found them to be very similar. I was able to side by side compare them in 1.30 (16ga) at 50lbs in my racquets back when Confidential was being released. I found Confidential to feel slightly stiffer. It was hard to tell on ground strokes but it looked like I was getting a little more spin on my serves. If there was any difference, it wasn't particularly significant. Excellent control from both strings. Hyper G felt a touch more lively but I was getting pretty similar depth with both strings so I don't think there was any real power advantage. I preferred the feel of the Hyper G, so that would be my personal choice but the performance was a toss up. My preference is 1.25 for most poly strings and I usually start at 50lbs with a new string or frame if it's 16 main. I rarely go up in tension after the 1st string job but will occasionally go down 2 to 4lbs if I don't get enough feel at 50lbs.

I used to play with the 3rd Gen Pure Strike with Hyper-G @ 48 lbs and it felt great to me. Good spin and decent feel.

Absolutely nailed it. Couldn't have said it better. Exactly my impressions as well.
Pretty much what’s said above. Confidential is a bit deader/stiffer, while Hyper-g feels slightly softer and more muted. Playability is really close, confidential maybe has slightly more grip on the ball and thus more spin/less power but it’s splitting hair here.
If you can compare them side by side you might prefer feel of one to the other, if not just pick the color you prefer

Something about Hyper-G didn't feel good on my arm. Cannot figure out why. Confidential has always felt fine.

I can echo this, Hyper-G for some reason just doesn't gel with my elbow. I am fine with stiffer strings such as Tour Bite & TBHS7T but Hyper-G just seems to cause issues. Maybe its something in its construction?

That's what Ive been thinking with slight differences in feel but some will see more.

I'm pretty sure that test-marketed it, and figured out they would sell at least twice as much if they called it a different name instead of Hyper G black.
