I'm interested in subscribing, but do we lose access to *previously* analyzed videos once our subscription runs out? I was on a trial subscription that ended last month, and videos from before the subscription ended are showing up with "you analyzed over 120 minutes this month. Upgrade to unlock" dialog.

Thanks

@swupnil

I've been using the apple watch setup to keep track of points (ace/winner/double fault/etc) during a match, and it's been working well.

I see an advertised feature on your web site:

Match Analysis (2021)

automated score keeping, stats tracking, line calling

What exactly is "automated score keeping"? Does this mean I will no longer have to use my apple watch to manually input the points (ace/winner/double fault/etc) once the feature is available in 2021 (2022?)

Thanks

Can you create a user configurable setting to allow upload via mobile internet connection vs WiFi only? When travelling for league playoffs/sectionals, LTE and 5G is much faster and more consistent than some hotel wifi connections

Can’t you still upload if you turn off your wifi?

Weird. On my ATT I can turn it on the cellular settings on my phone and it uploads over cell I believe. Nvm then!

When on mobile connection, the upload remains at 0% and doesn't budge. Cellular Data is enabled, everything thing else in the app works as if I were connected, just the mobile upload problem. When I turn on mobile hotspot on one phone, the other phones can connect to the hotspot and start uploading. I don't want to use the mobile hotspot because I have a low cap on mobile hotspot data (but high limit on non-hotspot data)

If this happens to me I force quit the app and restart it. That usually works.

@1HBHFTW good point! In point by point you can manually keep track in real-time by swiping left if a serve is missed, but we can certainly override your input, especially if we notice you (pretty much) never swiped left to track the faults. Regarding storage, we've had complaints before that it wasn't aggressive enough but it certainly seems if you have tons of space available, we shouldn't have to worry about this. We are working on some updates in the coming weeks that should work well for everyone and address your concerns here.

@happyloman you don't lose previous videos, but they do become locked beyond the 120-minute limit of each month. If you ever resubscribe, access to those videos is granted back. Auto scoring was meant to be released end of 2021 but we had a few delays. We're on track for this quarter. Initially you will still need to keep score on Apple Watch Game by Game, but everything else will be automated (who won the point, 1st/2nd serve, how the point was won).

@onceascottie yep working on adding a user configurable setting for that this quarter. Currently, we only support uploads over Wifi to keep things simple.

Is this override something that's available now to turn on or something that's in development? Switching racket to other hand to swipe between serves messes up my rhythm and some of my opponents take like 3 seconds between 1st and second serves, so it's not really an option to switch hands and swipe for the their faults either.

If the override (or automatic) 1st/2nd serve option is already available can you let me know how to turn it on? If it's not yet np, just want to make sure I'm not overlooking a feature that's already there.

@swupnil Is it possible to add an option to add point by point or game by game inputs while watching the video at home so that we can still get an score overlay without having used the Apple Watch during recording ?

Question for you all. I tried to use an apple watch to keep score and stats for the first time the other night. I started with the advanced option and it was too much to try to keep up with at that time so I stopped using it after 4 games. Viewing the processed video you can't navigate through points like you usually can. I assumed this is because I stopped tracking the points. Is there there any way to delete the score keeping data and reprocess the match without the score tracking?

you can "export full video" (not just points) so that it saves to your phone, then go to "tracking" > Import and select the video. Choose final score when it asks your tracking preference and it will reupload as a separate match

Yeah I guess that'd be one way to do it. Be nice if there was an easier way.

One other thing for @swupnil - Is there anyway to increase the apple watch screen refresh rate when you are setting up the mount using the iphone. It'd be easier to just see a real time video feed rather than what is shown now. Seems like it pings the camera every few seconds and sometimes it a little bit of work to get the camera set up just right.

@jwalk if you DM me the session link, we can reset it completely for you and remove all of the scoring data. For the watch refresh rate, that's been a bit tricky as we need to support older watches gracefully. We may add a faster refresh rate for the more modern watches at some point though.

So I've been using Swingvision for a few years now and consistently my biggest problem has been getting the phone mounted well. I didn't want to shell out the money for the fence mount so I've tried tripods some other fence mounts but they are either not high enough for good video or not secure enough on the fence. And if I'm playing at a club for a league match I don't really want to have a tripod on one side of the court during a match. So I came up with a new curtain mounting option. I designed an angled mount for my phone and 3D printed it with a magnet imbedded in the print. It essentially uses two strong magnets, one in the phone mount and one on the other side of the curtain to hold it up. I have about an 8 foot reach that's good enough for me. to get good video.

I plan to test it out at my next league match and I'll let you know how it goes. I'm thinking about adding bubble levels and another magnet to help align perfectly with the court.

You can see pictures here.

Hey Derrick, can you make the pictures public or allow access to it? I'm also looking at mounting options (currently use a cheap selfie stick with some hooks attached to the back) and would love to see your design.
Should be good to go now. It's very simple, but in my testing so far seems to work great. Next step will be to make it work with a chain link fence.

I'm no longer able to login to " swing . tennis / login " , getting "Invalid Apple Sign In request, please try again." Is this issue site-wide or just me? (I had no issues signing in the past two months"

Anyone using SwingVision with iPad Pro M1 chip? I’m on a iPhone 12 Pro Max with Apple Watch series 7.
Does it do auto line calling? If so does it prompt you on your Apple Watch or via iPad speaker? It is the feature I’m most looking forward to. I’m part of the TestFlight group. Every time I think there’s a bug they’ve fixed it before I’ve had anytime today report it

dont worry about resetting the data. Was just curious if there was a way to manually exclude it on the backend.

and for the watch refresh rate I’m really just nitpicking. Not a huge issue at all although a real time video feed would be great at sometime in the future.

@happyloman are you still stuck? Site should be working fine!

@naruto83 we only have manually-initiated line challenges at the moment. Here’s our guide on that: https://swing.tennis/guides/challenge-line-calls

Ironically, we are more accurate than humans on close calls now, but it’s the the easy calls where we’re still making a few mistakes. Once we get those edge cases ironed out, we’ll release the live line calling. It’ll play audio feedback on your watch and/or paired Bluetooth speakers. Almost there!

@swupnil - Is it on the roadmap to be able to do advanced point by point tracking for all 4 doubles players? Right now it seems to combine the stats for each team (serve %, errors ect...)

swupnil

Rookie
@jwalk yes it’s been on the roadmap for ages actually! But other priorities keep getting in the way. It’s going to need to be a part of the auto scoring, so it’ll happen before or right along that.

I’ve looked at this thread a few times and been really interested in the app, but felt that it wasn’t worth switching to iPhone for. The other week though my android just suddenly stopped working.
I’m going to be honest, a huge part of me deciding to go back to Apple was this app. I’ve now got an iPhone 13. Built my own fence mount (it’s difficult/expensive to source the QM-1 in the UK). Today I’ve added an Apple Watch to the mix as well.
I’ve only recorded a couple of sessions so far. Those at my club have been fascinated and intrigued by the video I’ve shared with them though.
I’m really looking forward to recording more sessions and using it with my daughter to help her analyse her game.
I’ve no doubt I’ll be back in here to ask for assistance at some point.

@swupnil hey, I tried to get the new remote control feature working today and couldn't get it to connect. Is there anything I could be doing wrong or perhaps a quick write up of how to do it right?

So sad the app crashed today. This was before the latest beta update. Wished it would’ve told me while I was playing. Score keeping etc was working perfectly fine during match play so I had zero idea the iPhone app crashed. Was such an epic match.

@Demented @jwalk The new Remote Control feature is now live publicly. We have a guide for how to pair two iOS devices together here. Please DM me if you're still having issues.

@naruto83 bummer! We've had very few crashes lately but love to figure this one out. Could you DM me your username in the app, or even a link to the session? We have the ability to notify the watch if there's a recording interruption but crashes are tough since iOS gives us such little time to do anything before the app is suspended.

@2ndServe yep it'll work but as @antony mentioned, it will not be capable of processing the video in real-time. For that, you'll want an iPad with the A13 chip, or newer. This includes any iPad released in 2021 and the new iPad(s) that may be released in March.

I have been using the app for half a year and for the most part it is working well. However I have recently gotten a new phone with 4K recording. Are there plans for SwingVision to allow 4K resolution as I am limited to 1080p on my M1 Mac so far
I would gladly trade off the cloud uploading if it meant 4k resolution is available!

When the Android version comes out, are there plans to release a Google Wear OS app so that the android smart watches can do some of what the apple watches can do now?

Also, is there any benefit to using my ipad with A12X processor over iphone with A12 processor?

swupnil

Rookie
@LegionFHDTL we hope to support 4K at some point this year! As you said, we may not allow cloud backups for those videos, at least initially. Cloud backups are already very slow as it is.

@silverwyvern4 we hope to support wearOS in some form! One reason the Apple Watch has worked so well, especially for line challenges, is that Apple’s W1 chip gives much better range and bandwidth than standard Bluetooth, allowing you to quickly load video replays from the other side of the court during line challenges. My guess is that most Android Wear devices won’t be able to support that capability, but I imagine they can at least be used for checking the camera in close range during setup.

The main benefit of the iPad will be longer battery life and less chance of overheating. iPhone 12 should have the better quality 1.0x lens though, so from an accuracy perspective that might perform slightly better. For what it’s worth, I’ve found even on my 12 Pro (which has degraded its battery capacity quite drastically as I’ve been heavily testing the app over the last year) that I can record 2 hrs comfortably as long as I’m on low battery mode.

Can anyone recommend an extra long selfie stick.

problem is my courts have the wind breakers on the inside of the court fence so there’s no fencing to attach it to unless I go 10 ft plus above the wind breaker. I’m thinking of an extra long selfie stick with a large hook at the top had any one has made a diy from Home Depot hook and a selfie stick

I bought a regular 5 foot extending tripod. I stuck a Hercules hook though the swivel joint at the top. I then added a bungie cord to the bottom with a clip. I hook the top of the fence and then clip the bungie cord below the wind screen to anchor everything.

I’m using a Telesin 270cm super long carbon fiber selfie stick with a small DIY hook attached to it.

The website says
Our A.I. will process your video in real-time as long as you're using an iPhone or iPad with A13, A14, A15, or M1 chip. This includes any iPhone released since June 2019 and any iPad Pro, iPad Air and iPad mini released since the beginning of 2020.

If you have an older device, you can still use SwingVision to process your videos after recording!

So I almost ran out to buy a new device. But actually I get real time processing on my 2018 A12 device!

Woah @silverwyvern4 did you use an iPad or an iPhone? Curious as to what device and model you used. Also was it on Low Battery Mode? We'd definitely love to update our guidance if we can repeatedly see good results with your setup!

@swupnil i tried the game by game match with another iPhone to use as a remote control to update the score. The app asked for permissions in each phone and connected but throughout the session kept reconnecting and didn’t allow me to update scores. At the end, the session saved as a practice hit and there are no rallies in the highlights. There’s just the entire session video. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong ?

swupnil

@rider4ever we only support scoring from Apple Watch right now. Hoping to add it for the iOS remote control in Q2! That's strange about the reconnecting. Did you keep the devices within 30 feet of each other? We unfortunately have the same range limitations as AirDrop for this (I'm hoping Apple will update that limitations in a future iOS as it seems purely software).

@silverwyvern4 ooh good to know. What year was that released do you know? Is it the one with the A12Z chip? That would make sense that it's on par or better than the iPhone 11's A13.
