Tennis shoe with most cushioning

If you really want a lot of cushioning, you might consider getting a basketball shoe. Who needs more cushioning than guys with 36" vertical leaps? One of the shoes I wear is the Adidas Crazylight Boost. I define cushioning as impact protection, not necessarily softness. The Crazylight Boost has more cushioning than any tennis shoe I've worn, and I've worn a lot of them including the Prince T22 and the Barricade Boost, and it has enough stability for tennis. The only drawback would be durability if you play on hard courts.

Try the Harden's Vol.2 since you like the CLBs. High level cushioning with excellent support. I think they run a bit narrower than the CLB 2018 but not by much.

I play mostly on clay. If they are good for that I mght try some. How do they fit (narrow, medium, etc...)?

I have medium width feet and both 2018 and 2016 versions feel very comfy. Not too wide, not too narrower, just hit the sweet spot perfectly. The 2016 look better but the 2018 have a bit more cushioning and run slightly wider.

damn zooms (yellow) are on sale for 74.00. Had to get a pair of those and the black ones on clearance too. Best deals in a long time.

i might be repeating myself but ive found the zoom zeroes and the rush 3.0 to offer the most cushioning, hands down. vapors are still the most stable i have used but the comfort of these rush 3.0s cant be beaten.

Hey @n8dawg6, I've read a few differing customer reviews on the durability of the rush 3.0s in particular the toe area not being up for much abuse, which goes against some of the industry opinions I've seen out there. The toe is usually the first place I wear out followed by the forefoot, how are you finding the rush 3.0's are holding up in these areas?

they are holding up fine for me ... im playing mostly 40 yr old 4.0 doubles though. not sure if they would be a stable enough option for a more advanced player. ive read about the durability issues too, kinda waiting to see if the other shoe drops (pun intended?)

They held up fine for me as well. Most comfortable shoes I have worn as well.

2.5s have better cushioning durability but the 3.0s feel lighter/faster so it’s all a matter of preference

I'll vote for Asics Gel Resolutions. I have never had a problem with that shoe. To me, it feels the most cushioned while on court for long periods of time. I manage a tennis retail store and most tennis pros in the area agree. Haven't tried the NB Lav but have tried everything else mentioned here. I do own a pair of Harden 2's and 3's and I think they are very comfortable. But they would be a little too clunky/tight for spending 2 hours on a hard court in 90 degree weather.

maybe it’s just me but the wilson rush pro 2.5 was super comfortable when i first got it but after 1.5-2 months in, it feels like the cushioning has flattened out and my feet have started to hurt. FYI I would not consider myself a lightweight and I do put a lot of stress on my feet while playing aggressive 4.5 style tennis (splitstepping etc)

I have been playing with more expensive Zooms and Babolats, all good. Since a 8-9 months I'm playing with Artengo (bought from Decathlon, its one of their own cheapish brands). I'm playing in the not the most expensive type, here in Sweden they are around 50 $, I think they are called TS500. From the first step they felt really "soft and cushioned", and I have been using them for over 8 months. They are still lasting but are becoming worn out now. I'm not saying these are the best shoes, but compared to my previous shoes these are at least as good, and a very well worth their price.

I bought some Zoom Zero thanks to this thread. I've been wearing the Vapor x and the big toes always seem to bruise.

Got my Zoom Zero in yesterday. I'm going to be playing in a singles tournament this weekend. Anybody knows if they needs to be break in?

I had some rubbing on the right ankle where the collar comes up and hits the ankle bone but it seemed to be ok after a few hours. Almost returned them because of this but was able to bend them outwards a bit so it didn't rub as much.

Can you trim them around your ankle bone? Remove your foot first..............................................from the shoe

That would be cutting out a sizable chunk of the collar of the shoe so probably not. I was able to bend it outwards enough to where it's not a problem anymore, the upper material did loosen up a bit with some wear. I shoved some gel inserts in to replace the thin flimsy original Nike foam so and going to test it so it should be extra cushioned now.

should be good to go right out of the box. Might be a little snug but the upper will stretch a little bit within the first couple hours of use. Good luck!

So I was trying these on last night without socks and my goodness did I struggle to get my feet in them. I wonder if I should have gone a 1/2 size up. Once I got them on they were very comfortable. I didn't expect the middle section to be hard plastic.

Powder those toes before trying on those shoes

I got the Zoom Zeros based on reviews and they are plenty cushioned compared to the Vapor 9/9.5/X but I found that my big toe would hurt when I did sudden plant and pivot. I don't think they added enough reinforce in the big toe area but the cushion overall is amazing since it is Nike Zoom Air.

As much as I like it, I am going back to using basketball shoes even if they don't last as long since they have more cushion.

I have been using Adidas Crazylight Boost and Adidas Solecourt Boost on HC in the last two years, and they are both spectacular as far as cushioning goes. They also provide a nice variety as both are slightly different in width, with the SoleCourt Boost being some of the widest normal (i.e. not "extra wide") shoe on the market, which is something that has been missing from the tennis landscape from quite some time.

Wore these during my match last night and they felt like playing on pillows. Absolutely more cushion than the Vapor X and Prestige I own. I didn’t have any issues with putting them on or rubbing on the ankle.

I know that durability is an issue with the basketball shoes used for tennis but my beloved Crazy Light Boost 2018 just now show significant wear on the outsole. And that is after about 6-7 months of use, 5-6 hours per week, on hard courts being used by an overweight player with sloppy/lazy footwork. They seem to have another 2 months in them. Extremely happy with them.

Are the basketball shoes designed for wood or outdoors?

Not sure what they are designed for. I've heard outdoor bball courts but could be wrong. See for yourself and decide! (y)

This is how they look at the moment. I don't think that tennis specific shoes last me (much) longer. In my personal generalized opinion, they all last me about 8-10 months.

And/or designed for sliding?

Long gone are the days of me sliding on hard courts. :D:-D

Big design change coming based on what Tiafoe wore at the AO.

Very interesting. The Zoom Zero was more for narrower feet and despite its great cushioning, became very uncomfortable for some with a foot on the wider side. I have not seen what Tiafoe wore but does it look like perhaps a wider toebox with same cushioning?

I hope not. I love the zooms and do not find them that narrow with correct size. I squeezed into a size down, like Troy did, and eventually my toes got scrunched. I went back to my normal size, which I thought were too long at first, and voila, great fit. The extra length in the toes was NOT bothersome like I thought it would be. My feet stay very stable and there is no toe jam. I would have sworn these were too big but went ahead and played in them. Perfect. I do have a slightly narrow foot but I don’t think these are that narrow compared to other shoes I have worn. My 2 cents

ZZ have great cushioning but definitely a pain to put them on. And yes, agreed, I think they are more for those with feet on the narrower side. I couldn't wear them for long and I have medium to slightly wide feet. Felt pressure on sides of my foot all throughout the session. I have yet to see what Tiafoe was wearing. Will try and Google.

Hi,
Anyone have any recommendations?
I want the most cushion in a tennis shoe. Hopefully the cushioning is durable.
Let me know if anyone has any good recommendations?!?!?
Thanks
