ooh. yes sup. i indeed want to hit tomorrow evening. anytime after say 6:00 and up til the wee hours of the morning sound good. especially if it saves me from going to the tennis social alone. PPL bailed, hollywood has bowling, raiden is a no go, and my old coworker is staying inside and warm.

email me: tfmmail at gmail dot com

just had a thought too. since our boy PP serves so hard. does that mean he has a modicum of skill and talent because he ain't no 6 foot 4. and that means too that if he improved said talent and skill -- what do you think his ceiling would be?

nadal does look awesome.. and those courts are perfect for his game.
(even my serve might kick up on those courts!)
somebody (like Tsonga or Cilic) is going to have to overpower him with 33aces and 105mph flat forehands or else he is going to walk away with the trophy.
(can i change my racquet bracket???)

In Nadal's first match, I felt that although he was flattening out his shots more, he didn't seem as reliable (go figure). Plus mixing in the different shots seemed to disrupt the rhythm on his dependable topspin. I wonder how often he will use the flat shots if he has to play Murray or Fed in tight match situations. I do think this will all benefit him in the long run, having more (and even bigger) weapons/options. Its weird to see a number 1 player make so many changes in such a short span of time.

Its terrible. At this rate we may never see another Goran. I think we need diferent surafces so we can see different styles of play. Whats wrong with Diversity in Sports. It makes for intersting matchups. Just like the superbowl this year.

but I guess the people dont like watching Goran at 6'4" 180 blasting upwards of 30+ aces a match on some superfast carpet anymore.

that is true. it's possible he can flatten out his forehand against lesser opponents but it may be far tougher against quality opponents. who is nadal's first challenge? anyone take a look at the brackets?

I'll email you today. Will you need a racquet as well?

PP is like 6'3.. probably grown to 6'4 by now. That said, I honestly started really thinking. PP serves hard, double faults and is having problems with groundies. Basically he is hitting the net.

Then it struck me. He should be a hockey player. Get paid to hit the back of the net for a living! Like milan here.

JRS,

I've always been curious. Are your siblings taller? With your long legs (or illusion due to your short nair shorts), I figured maybe you got the short end of the stick per se.

I think I have a mutation that took my extra height and added them onto my feet (size 13's).

Actually my youngest bro is a pretty big dude, 6'4" around 240lbs. Me and my middle bro are about the same height. My dad was about 6'1" but my mom is kinda short, so I figure I didn't make out too bad.

Oh, and the nike shorts aren't that short in case you haven't noticed.....

I just looked and his draw is crazy! Haas in the next round- who seems to be playing well and typically does well in Australia. Then the round after that Gasquet or Gonzalez (who beat him two years ago here). And if assuming he gets through those he could face Monfils (who beat him last week) or Simon (who beat him at the end of last year). Tough draw, but he is more than capable of getting through.

Shoot, both my brothers are around 6'3"/6'4". ahh the serving possibilities from that height...

Milan Jarcina (6'4 233lbs).

Growing up in NY playing hockey, I had several opportunities to move north and effectively do the Bollettieri thing, only for ice hockey. For years I always thought "I could have played in the NHL, or at least the minors".

Then I went to a Caps game. Front row seats, 10 seats to the left of the Cap's bench. I saw first hand that (a) these guys are fast, and (b) they're all 6' something, 200+ lbs. I quickly realized had I tried to play professional hockey, I would be dead by now...

Yeah.... it's just not fair. How's the serve with the HPS???? You were hitting some nice ones when you tried out my PDRs.

---

I think Nadal blows though Haas, unless Haas plays the game of his life.

NAdal vs. Gonzo - holy forehand!!!! That should be a good one. Gonzo will have to be perfect to beat Nadal at the AO though. I think Gasquet would just fold up into a ball pre-match if he has to play Rafa.

Rafa, Monfills could be fun to watch, but I'm going to go with Nadal in a Grand Slam.

Simon? I think a fairly fresh Rafa has him beat.

I will not be surprised to see him get through, however, everyone in his immediate quarter has a good (recent) history with Nadal. And then of course Big Guns Murray may be waiting in the semis

Well, you saw my brother... same height as me. My dad was only like 6 maybe 6'1". My mom is like 3 feet tall. My sister is about 5'10" I think.

I remember my great-grandpa (from my mother's side) being like 6'. That's pretty damn tall for a Filipino dude.

no one on my mom's side is tall, a couple somewhat tall cousins, but nothing like my brother's. I think her side of the family look like little people sometimes.

Thursday Tennic Clinic guys

Guys,

Tonights lineup: TheJRK, Vitaly, Magma, JRS

I was wondering if you guys wanted to hold a video session tonight during the last 30 minutes. Groundies, serves, volleys. Then I can post the videos online and we can discuss or discuss in a group (lobby) right after.

Let me know, otherwise the last 30 minutes will be a game of 30. Like king of the hill but with points instead .....and SERVES!

See you guys tonight.

p.s. majority rules in this decision.

I say we do the vids and do 30 another time. Both are tempting though.

Nice... I used to skate every day until about 5 years ago, then my wife said only little kids skate. :(

I wouldn't even wear those shoes though. If they were all pink or all turquoise, maybe.

I have the other version of that shirt. If they had the pink Ballistecs I would've got that pink shirt but alas, I'll have to wait until (springtime?).

p.s. I would like to demo the KBlade Team and KSix-One Team (Sup help?)

Somdev and Treat were at skyline last year as part of a social that Randy put together.

Peeps were able to show up and play a pro-set with Somdev...only one guy took the bait (Morgan).

Treat's dad, Kirk, is at the club more frequently. I've talked to him once...a conversation started by him asking about the warm-up I was wearing...I happened to be wearing my one from nationals that day.

Me and Somdev:

Hey Shcmad! BIIIIG match tonight! Gonna set your alarm? In honor of Safin's last year on tour, do you have a big picture of him as your computer wallpaper? ;)

As Shintan would say, I think it's safe to say that this match will be the match of "DONE's"

Fed is not the same as before and Safin is still looking for a brain. I'm hoping that the big guy will be able to take at least 4 games off of Fed, but that's pushing it.

man, watching James Blake, with multiple match points, get 80mph 2nd serves, and CRUSH them 110mph into the net several times... is SO FRUSTRATING to watch.
His all or nothing strategy and his "I never miss" bravado really makes him look dumb. How many matches has he lost due to this? I know his response would be, "but how many matches have i won!" but he will lose against better opponents if he wastes points like that.

I think we all (shcmad) (j/k) should learn from his stubborn refusal to hit the high percentage shot and earn the point by playing several smart shots.

thanks vitaly. and knowing is half the battle. GI JOE!!!!

blake's game plan is pretty silly. i always think that with his ridiculous footspeed that he could play defense a lot more and wait for his opportunities to destroy the ever loving tar out of the ball when it's the right time to unload.

sup - yes i'll need a stick as well. anything in the 11-12 ounce range should work. i'm still between racquets. i've found some on the forums that i wanna pull the trigger on but my chief finance officer at home hasn't approved the expenditure just yet. *shakes fist at woman*

True, blake has no second gear, and the sad thing is he has great speed so if he played a little "D" he could hit a higher percentage shot and stay in the point instead of going for straight winners.

But, supposedly he tried to play it safer and his results weren't too good. I remeber a press conference where he kind of went after his critics for saying he should play safer. I just dont think blake believes he can win without just going for it.

Well no vote from TheJrk or Magma, so we'll go with the normal lesson plan with us ending with 30 pt .

Just played with a solid player. Works for the army. Figure well get him a practice match with one of you guys.

Vitaly. I forgot your string at the fortress of solitude. So I'll just buy you a beer.

Wondering if Vitaly can break down the waitreas before the session is over to give him a free beer.

Vitaly: You have the power.

So, if there are any more antics with Vitaly and the waitress, I expect film!!!

Topaz,

Can you give your review to the boys regarding the clinic you attended last night? It's pretty much the same one they'll be going through tonight.

We have to do the video one of these sessions. I'm definitely down with that.

Next time just tell her you are packin some serious gerth in the crotch area.

Also tell that Army guy he will go down and see first hand what the meaning of Air-Power is. Of course he would have to wait for a weekend or on of my regular mondays off. And then if I lost I could always use the excuse that the drive from HaCo wore me out too much to really bring out my game. And if he didnt buy that just insert any random Williams sister excuse.

Part 1: Warm up
Part 2: Short balls! <insert joke>

And then, crux of the whole clinic...

Part 3: The drop ball/crossover step drill. All I can say is that I'm not usually doubled over trying to catch my breath in-between turns. At least I lasted longer than my clinic mates.

Part 4: Pick up balls in a daze.

Looks like the Nature tournament will be moving from Worldgate to Skyline. Good stuff.

Reaaalllly? Hmmm, will they be allowing 4.0s to play in the 3.5 draw?!?

Is there a date?

Not sure on the date.

Not sure about the usta level checks, but that comment made me think.

Which guy in the twmac could get into the womens draw with a wig and a skort. I think Vitaly then Shcmad. Vitaly has that prison currency bait face, while shcmad has a bright future as a high school narc.

^^^Sup wasn't there (I have vague recollections of calling him and he was holed up in some bar somewhere!), and I was too busy hanging out with Treat's dad! LOL. I had played in the social that night already, and Somdev was the final, 'main' event of the night. He was very nice and very gracious to everyone afterward.

NO clinic for me tonight, I officially have the plague. Going home and going to bed! :(

Hey Auzzie...I picked up the other 3 this afternoon at the price I told you about. I think I'm set for a while:

M-Comps.JPG

Because I'm so anal-retentive about my sticks, I'll use my current 3 until ~ March, then change to the new 3 until September, then back to the other 3, and so on, until ~ 2012...

McLovin

Legend
Honestly, I hate to change rackets. I do it every 4 - 5 years, just because mine get all beat up & worn, then I can't find new versions because the racket company has moved on to new technologies

I'm a mentally unstable player. Therefore, if all my rackets are the same weight & balance, strung w/ the same string at the same tension, the only variable in the equation is me. So, if I'm hitting the ball perfect one minute, then out the next, its not the racket's or the string's fault. It is my fault.

Topaz

Legend
^^^Well, my comment wasn't totally in jest...I'm a big fan of plans! :)

So many tennis players do blame other things when really...all the fault lies between the player's ears. If you are mentally unstable, than I'm a raving lunatic!

;)

McLovin

Legend
You'll also notice the grip colors. This is so I know which racket to use next. I used to scratch a 'I', 'II', 'III', etc., but I always forgot 'am I using 'III' or 'IV'?

Using the good 'ol red white & blue, I'll always know which one comes next...

God I'm a mental case...
