Makes sense. I ordered 27.25" but cut off 0.25" (= 6mm). That made the balance go from 31.9 to 31.3 cm (6 mm diff, tada!). So I was thinking maybe the extension of the racquet led to the weight being differently placed. Thanks!
I couldn't keep my fingers away. Moved the weights from the bottom gap to the second bottom gap. Made the balance go from 31.3 to 31.5 cm.

Might be the fact that I ordered a slightly extended racquet that made Paul place the weight as far out in the handle as he could to get the balance as good as possible. Then when I cut off the extension the weight could (should) be moved to make the balance right.

Now Im hesitate between TC95 16/19 310g/315mm and TC97 16/19 310g/315mm
anyone know those frame SW?
Im allcourt player ,often to the net ,so I need good touch/stable feel
TC97 volly seems more stable then TC95
but on groundstroke and serve ,TC95 looks better...?

I think you can expect sw to be 295-300 unstrung for TC97

I have two TC97s with that spec. SW unstrung is 290 for both. I measured them with 1,23 mm SPPP and got 326 SW strung. However, that is somewhat unreliable because I used the RacquetTune app.

To Angell's credit, I think they are wherever they are needed in order to get the specs right. I remember reading others on this thread talking about opening up two of their (same) frames side by side but having different weight layouts in their handle.

I'd imagine it is impossible to get the hairpin production perfect without a gross inflation in cost, so there is enough variance after the foam is injected that weights may need to be in different places to achieve the end-balance (and static weight) goal.
Have 3 TC95, all the same specs and when opening up the pallets, none of them had the same weight numbers and/or distribution. So yes to Angell credit, they are placed exactly to achieve the desired final specs.

My TC97’s 16x19 at same weight & 9hl unstrung were around 295sw. TC97 is slightly more stable than TC95, both have same power. TC97 hits lower ball than TC95. I’m biased towards the 97 as used them for over 4 years.

Just got a TC100 Pro from @nvr2old

strung it up with OG Sheep and slapped a leather grip on it. Thought about using it for feeding drills but skipped on it and tried it on some ground strokes. Need some significant time on it to see if it reminds me a bit of the TC100 and if it's going to work for me. Poly soon

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know which frame would play closest to the Wilson Ultra Pro/Tour 16x19 (305g, 315mm)?

1. TC95 16/19 310g/315mm
2. TC97 16/19 310g/315mm
3. Others?

I am about to change from my current Angell TC95 18x20 to Angell TC100 16x19.

I am getting older and I think I need some more realestate. While loving the feel of the 95 I can see that in matches when I dont have time to prepare and in defensive moment I need something larger.

I hope I can gel with the TC100, I changed to TC95 a few years back, as I needed some more control. I just strung up one of my old TC100 so I will se tonight.

I am struggeling mostly on returns, anyone please share their experience pros and cons for different strokes going from TC95 to TC100, and do you still use your 95 (for practice) or did you sell it.

Cheers, H

I would use Facebook Messenger and ask Paul directly if he can match those specs. He may charge a little extra, but finding a stable and quality racket that is both (relatively) light weight-wise and headlight is not easy.

I think you will notice a massive change from the TC95 18x20 to the TC100 16x19. I started my journey with Angell with the latter, having convinced myself that I had to go to 100sq. in. for the reasons you mentioned (I was 50 at the time and playing with a Prince Phantom 93P). But I play with moderate spin on the FH and mostly slice on the BH, and I just stuggled with the wild launch angle and power. My FH would often sail long, and my BH was floating, and I was breaking strings like crazy (I blame my serve for that, as I use a lot of slice and spin, and hit it quite hard). I transitioned to the TC95 16x19, which I found more controllable but I was still breaking too many strings, so I settled with the TC95 18x20 which I am very happy with for the time being. If I need more tolerance, I can always go back to the 16x19. I suspect that you too would have more joy going to the TC95 16x19 than the TC100, coming from the TC95 18x20. As others have mentioned, the TC95 16x19 has the same tolerance as a lot of frames that are 98 sq.in. from other brands. If you struggle with your return with the 18x20, the 16x19 will give you more net clearance, that's for sure.

I have the tc95 16 in v1 and v2. specs different. Worked on them extensively to match them. v2 seemed to play a tiny bit more solid but I also had a poly in one and mutli in another.

@haqq777 @topspn @Backhanded Compliment @ed70 @galapagos to name a few. I have as well (v1, v2, v3) but none in the same specs, so not able to compare racquet to racquet unfortunately
None of them ever felt different or played in a somehow altered way. They were PJ changes and the only change was with micro braid and that just kept SW variability down so you didn't get the hefty SW you could get before into the mid 330s and beyond.

That's me!

I was even going to sell my 18x20 Angells, the TC95 and the K7Lime, than one day I told myself "let's play the last time with them". Wow, I did play quite well with them, so a waited a little bit more. End of story, I am not able to play any more with my 16x19 Angells. Sometimes I make an exception for the K7Cyan, but I go back to the Lime or the TC95 in a short time.
If someone needs a higher launch angle without loosing too much control and feeling I would say go for the K7Cyan, I think it is better than the TC100.

ASL2 is also 16x19 but not uncontrollable. Underrated frame imo.

Have owned TC101, such a solid racquets. Looks like TC95 is gaining more popularity. In case any one is selling TC95 V3/V4 in 4 1/4, please let me know. Willing to try out before pulling the trigger on angelltennis.com.....thx.

So I've been playing a bunch of my frames lately. Currently in rotation:

2020 Head Prestige Pro
ProKennex Q+ Tour 325
Angell TC95 63RA 18x20

As much as I'm enjoying the racquet-a-holic life, I do actually want to settle with a frame/string setup and get to work. I find my serve too hard to dial in between racquets when I continually switch.

The Angell is the one I want to win, but it's been a very polarising few weeks. I had a terrible match with it last week. I could not make a ball. I was netting everything. I don't believe it was the frame's fault. I had a fresh set of Black Knight 1.23 in there and everyone says that string takes an hour to really reach good performance. I was also just listless, not really using my legs. Just not a good day.

The flip side is, last night I used it again and I was absolutely monstering my forehand. I've never hit the ball so hard and so accurately. My serve was a problem, but like I said, I find that hard to dial in when I'm constantly switching. We were also playing on a damp court so the balls got heavy and my cannon of a first serve lost quite a bit of pace.

I want to just pull the trigger after last night, buy a few more TC95s and be done, but my lingering fear is that maybe the poor performance last week says it's going to be a racquet of high highs and low lows. Maybe, when I'm not at my best, it's going to fail me. This is part of why I'm probably moving away from the Prestige Pro. It's great when I can hit the sweet spot, but it's quite unforgiving.

I'm going to play with nothing but the TC95 until the strings die to try and get a solid block with one racquet. I've got the final of my competition next week against a strong opponent, so that will be a good test.

Also, try thinner gauge strings... it will open up the string bed, provide more of a launch angle, and reduce the SW a bit. Try the BK 1.18mm or the MSV Co-Focus 1.18mm (in yellow - played awesome for me).

How does the TC95 63RA 18x20 compare with the PK Q+ Tour 325?

I've never tried below a 1.23. I'll give 1.18 BK a shot.

I really like the PK Tour 325. I bought it second hand here from someone nice enough to ship it to Aus, because we can't even buy it here. It is very precise, volleys well, but it is a little less powerful than the TC95. Spin generation feels about the same to me, but I hit very flat. I did have a couple of days where my (admitedly pretty poor) kick serve had noticeably more hop when using the PK, so make of that what you will. These are the two I'm going back and forth on. I bought the PK because I wanted to test a comfortable heavy 18x20 frame with a slightly more forgiving head size than the TC95. I can't say if it's actually more forgiving. I've played some excellent matches with the PK, and some not so excellent. I've never struck my forehand with it quite like I did with the TC95 last night though.

In the spirit of trying to test more forgiving options, I am actually tempted to give the Gravity Pro another try. I hit with it once a while ago and found it fine, but not noteworthy. But that was before I started gravitating (haha) towards 18x20s. I suspect I may feel differently now.

Thanks for your feedback.

Tennis Direct in Sydney sells PKs... and I'm not sure whether they had the Tour 325s and 315s and ran out... or never stocked them (they have some of the other "current" range of Ki Q+ racquets). Maybe keep checking when new stock comes in.

I'm tempted by the Tour 325 or 315... leaning towards the 315 to give me some variety and customisation options (I have many 18x20s). I have a large number of racquets though, and if they wouldn't move the game on from my existing collection, probably shouldn't get them. I'm interested in where you end up with your choice, so please keep us posted.

The TC95 18x20 has a somewhat dense pattern (I have no problem achieving all kinds of spin and loop), so thinner strings should be fine and will last a while (MSV Co-Focus 1.18mm (Yellow) lasted me for a very long time, and as the tension was going it went very progressively across the entire string bed, and therefore stayed very playable for the entire time - ended up being several months, which is not my usual practice but it just kept playing awesome).

Cheers

The TC95 18M is a great racquet give it some time, for me it shines with thinner gauges and strung low. I can recommend Alu Power 1.15 and Cyber Flash 17L (for softer but still crisp respond). I also change racquets a lot and are torn between the 16M and 18M TC95, I like Prince TT95 too, and like you I want to settle down and stay with a setup for a long time. Perhaps TC95 18x20 for indoor hard court and TC95 16x19 for outdoor clay season ??

As a general setting I string poly at 19kg and multi at 23kg in TC95 16x19. That is just how my sensitive arm likes it, I also prefer soft polys, but not sure if it makes sense to anyone else.
Is that with 16g or 17g? I find Angell's 16M frames a little bit too open and the launch angle too high, even on the TC95, so I've been using 16g only so far.

What tension are you stringing the Black Knights at? I've been playing with more 'closed pattern' rackets (prestige mid, 325 PK) and PL2, which I think is similar to your combo of the TC95 18x20/Black Knight and stringing lower and lower. I've hit 45lbs and am absolutely loving the control, power and touch. A year ago I would never have strung that low, albiet I was playing with more open string pattern frames.

I've also changed my view on polys- if I don't love it right out of the gate but like them after an hour or two, then I restring it lower.

Haha, I'm in Australia, so for me it's basically synthetic grass all year around. We do have our share of hard courts, but most of my local options are the syngrass and it's what I'm used to at this point. It's skiddy and fast and suits my game well. I've literally played on clay once in my life. I believe there are only two or three tennis centres in the whole of Sydney with clay courts.

I string my TC95 18x20 at 46M/43C with full poly or 46M/46C with a Hybrid of Poly/Syn Gut (or Multi). Since I live in a humid environment, I can only use gut strings in the dry winter months (Australia). I have not had a chance to try it... but I would have gut at 48M/43C (round slippery poly like MSV C0-Focus 1.18mm). Might try that next year.

The poly in the mid-40s has great control, power, and touch. Love it.

i can vouch for cofocus for 97 18x20 (although i use 1.23 mm version)... i like them most of all that i tried...

aslo, yesterday, my balls were flying long for some reason, and i thought, lets remove vibrastop and thus lower sw a bit to see if it help...(i ordered 320g 28", 360sw lol)... and to my surprise, not only that it helped but there is not that metal sound that you get when playing without vibrastop with other racquets... it sounded exactly the same as with vibrastop... incredible, it must be bcs of the foam filling...
anyone tried it w/o vibrastop?
i suggest you try it, i think i will leave it this way

No stability issues or vibrations what so ever on TC100 V3 or TC95 V3 on any of my racquets, they are rock solid and very dampened due to the foam filling - could perhaps be the older versions ?

My experience is completely opposite. TC100 is way more stable at the same specs. Lead tape is needed for TC95 to reach the same stability.

Same for me - 1.18 Co-Focus stays playable for a very long time. I would say that I like it "dead" more than freshly strung - more predictable response.
However, I have never tried the yellow version yet. I'm using black and silver ones. Silver is more crisp.
Very good string, I'm using it since 2016 and happy to see that it is getting more and more popular here.
