I wonder if the Arizona student newspaper has articles covering tennis match results, and what quotes could the coach possibly provide after each PAC-12 loss. It must be pretty sad.

The Arizona coach said "we are very close to getting over the hump" after the loss to Washington. Of course what he didnt say was that this is Washington's worst team in many years.

At least the Arizona men's tennis team is not as bad as the USC LiveStats operation. Really bush league.

Cal's video setup is pretty cool - they have the score at the top of each match and you can open as many courts as you want at once.

Who's going to Ojai ? Since they changed the format, this tournament has become the BEST year ending conference tournament in the Nation.
This event should have Daily TV coverage like the US open and Daily Webcam coverage thru the Final. But do They ???????????????????????

I hate the new format... there's already too many team dual matches... they should have kept it individual championship... plus the #5 & #6 players plays at the lower courts and you need to walk a ways to see the action there..

this is what happens..
1. USC b.UCLA.. indoors
2. UCLA b.USC,,@ ucla
3. UCLA @USC 4/18
4. USC vs.UCLA @ OJai 4/26
5. possible UCLA vs. USC @ NCAA

way too many head to head dual team matches...

You play against the best and your best comes out of you in time for the NCAA tournament. This is a advantage. but NCAA always puts Pac-10 schools on the same side of the draw, that is not fair.

I was there last year and there was no daily coverage, doubt there will be this year. The final match between UCLA/USC was televised by the Pac 12 Network, but only the top court. The Ojai tournament has a lot more going on than just the Pac 12 Championships.

Oregon goes down to Washington 4-3 losing the deciding match in a 3rd set TB. What was once a promising year for the Quack Attack has gone in the tank quickly. They'll miss the NCAAs after being ranked in the mid 20s just a month ago.

Stanford wins at Berkeley 4-2, even after loosing once again the doubles point!
This team has came back really strong the past month or so, only losing to UCLA and USC, the two best teams in the nation.

so what's the benefit of this Pac 12 (Ojai) tournament? does it changes any thing in rankings if UCLA beats USC in the finals?

Not at this point. but it is more fun this way. it used to be just another individual tournament but now it is team format since rest of the country is also team format.
So lets say if Cal wins the tournament, they will have bragging rights and it might give them higher seeding or better bracket position

The conference tournament will be huge in determining NCAA seedings. If UCLA beats USC, they can potentially leapfrog Virginia and become 2 or 3. Assuming USC stays 1, if UCLA grabs a 2 or 3 seed and Virginia remains 4, they'll avoid UVA as they'll be on the opposite side of the draw.

USC, UCLA, UVA don't want to be on the same side. Two of them will be. If UCLA wins Pac12s they have a shot at being the lone "big 3" team on their side. If they lose, they could see UVA in Qtrs, USC in semis, and "Insert another really good team here" in the final. That is essentially what they're playing for this weekend outside of the pac12 tournament trophy itself. Very important weekend for seeding purposes.

Could this be a strategic loss? Because now Washington will be in the top 75. If they beat washington in the Pac 12 tournament as a ranked team it will boost their ranking just a bit, probably still not enough though.

from your beloved Stanford athletics press :

One of the hottest teams right now has to be Stanford Men's Tennis. Riding a five-match winning streak, No. 27 Stanford (14-4, 5-2 Pac-12) has climbed 25 spots in the national rankings since April 1. The Cardinal, which has beaten four top-40 opponents, is the No. 3 seed at Pac-12 Championships and faces No. 49 Oregon in today's quarterfinals at 2 p.m.: http://bit.ly/1hpOojj

Per the Pac-12 LiveStats, Robert Stineman is playing #1 and #6 singles simultaneously. I suspect John Morrissey is actually playing #1. No Romanowicz listed in doubles by the time they finished, nor in singles.

Of course the live stats feed for Oregon-Stanford has gone down. Why does the coverage of college tennis continue to flop?

LiveStats flips Morrissey from 3-1 to 1-4 in the third set. Situation desperate for Stanford; situation hopeless for Ojai LiveStats.

EDIT: And Trey Strobel is 2-2, 15-0 for more than five minutes. Pathetic.

You have to remember Oregon ducks are much more desperate to win this one. with a loss, Oregon is out of NCAA whereas the Cardinal are already IN.

It's over 4-2 Oregon.

Nope, LiveStats says that it is still triple match point at #1 singles. Cambier and Morrissey have been moonballing each other for five minutes. Likewise, they have been on 15-0 for about ten minutes now at #3 singles. Glad I am not watching this on video; must be horrible to see.
