The Rafa Nadal Academy

I had the pleasure of spending 5 days at the Rafa Nadal Academy as a guest in the Residence which is really a sports resort attached to the boarding school and tennis academy. The residence is for people who just want a break and play some tennis or not but enjoy the ambience, the great food in the restaurant, the spa, a bit of massage etc. The venue is much much bigger than I imagined and of very high quality.

Here are some pictures I took.

You spent 5 days and did not see Rafa? That is not good.
I didn't. The staff are asked not to tell the guests when he is around and if you happen to see him that's fine. One sure way was to go to the gym. I took my gym kit with me, but the thought of hanging around the gym on the off chance of seeing Rafa didn't appeal to me. The gym can be accessed from the underground car park close to the spa and the indoor hardcourt which is next to the semi- indoor claycourt also has an underground car park so Rafa can go in and out without being seen. When I went down to the spa, I said to my husband that it would be hilarious if the only time I bumped into Rafa I would be in my bathrobe :p The guests said he ate in the dining room on Sunday 11th September but we arrived late on Tuesday the 13th.

They said he doesn't go to the academy a lot these days, as he and Meri are busy preparing for the baby.

Here is a picture I took of Carlos Costa in the dining room.

it's ok if you don't have model like looks, we are very sensitive and civilized in this forum just like tennis. it is gentleman's forum
Nothing to do with looks. I'm a very private person. I've met Rafa many times in Abu Dhabi and taken selfies but they are for me not for public consumption. I also had a selfie taken with Wozniaki in at the Golf Tournament in Dubai when she was dating McIlroy but I've never put it on social media.

Are you able to watch their juniors train/play matches?
Yes. We were free to go everywhere. If Rafa was training for a h/c outdoor tournament I would have seen a lot of him because the Center Court is just under the balcony which is an extension of the dining room and we sat there often. Sadly he was training for Lave Cup so he was practising indoors and as I said he used the underground carpark.

Is it continental breakfast or regular breakfast? Is it a buffet or served?

Is dinner a buffet or served?

Do you have to tip?

By the way, we had to show our vaccine certificate at immigration in Palma. Luckily we had it on the NHS App. I don't know how Djokovic managed to play Madrid.

The booking was done in April for my birthday on 11th September and they only had one room available. They moved the occupant from teh Rafa Nadal Suite to the Roger Federer Suite so we could have it. There is no Novak Djokovic Suite, I'm afraid.
