Top Jr Tournaments

Hi there!
I've been playing tennis for awhile and just started doing local tournaments, but I'm also in school. For my class we have to write a fiction novel and I decided to write mine about a club of junior tennis players. My only question is what are the top junior tennis tournaments for boys 10-18 and girls 10-18? I only need a few and I tried to Google it but the ranking system is a little confusing for a first timer.

Also are there any families in junior tennis that have multiple kids of different ages/gender that travel and play at a high level or is that unheard of?

Thanks so much for the help!

You might mention the Little Mo. They have an 8s, 9s, 10s and 11s division. Andy Roddick won it when he was a kid.

They do local, regional, then nationals. By the regional tournament, it's a pretty high level of tennis.

After that, the 12s - 18s events tennis159 mentioned are big here in the States.
Also, Easter Bowl, Copper Bowl, Supernationals, national opens, etc.

Years ago, there was Sport Goofy, the Banana Bowl, and the Rolex International.

There are ITF events, the Euro Cup, etc.

To address your other question, I have 2 sons that both play competitively in tournaments (not nationals yet, but sectionals).

Many families seem to do this and have multiple siblings in the same local and sectional tournaments. The trick is who to watch, when! It's not uncommon for both of my sons to be playing at the same time on courts not near each other.

There are also certain high level tournaments (sectionals and nationals) that divide the locations up by age bracket. Sometimes they are within driving distance of each other, but often they are not.

When this happens, families need to either prioritize which kid needs to play the most that week or have the parents (assuming there are 2 still in the same house) divide and conquer.

Hope that helps!

There is also the Junior version of the Grand Slams; U.S. Open, French Open, Australian Open and Wimbledon, that would be mostly 16-18 year olds, but best in the world.

Yes, there are many families who have multiple children gender and obviously age that play tournaments. It gets tricky! Good luck on your writing. :)

Wow thanks for the information. I did know about the Jr. Grand Slams but I've decided to have the kids be a little younger for my story.

Traveling with your two sons sounds complicated and I'm sure it gets tough at times! For the sake of my story they are going to play at the same place at different times haha!
