Tour Bite Diamond Rough

Looks like an interesting string, can't wait to try it out. I personally like Tour Bite very much, other than it's a little bit rough on my wrist.

Contrary to the article, I found it to play stiffer and a bit lower powered than original TB , but it really provides insane spin for sure ! its going to be a winner for solinco , it will appeal to the strong big hitting juniors and college players.

What is so interesting about it?
Is just yet another textured polyester string. Nothing special.

Kirschbaum Max Power Rough
Luxilon Alu Power Rough
Polyfibre Black Venom Rough

Tour Bite Diamond Rough is another addition to that list.
There are enough of this type of string on the market already.

I'd think, Rough slides less easily, so lower tension is needed to get the spring and power. Bite it probably has in spades.

In terms of tension, would you go up or down relative to what you would normally string ALU Rough at?

Thx

The most important questions are:
Does it have lesser or more power than original tour bite?
Does it needs to be strung with less or more tension in order to get same stringed stiffness?
Both questions are related but the review seems to contradict itself.

No comment on K'Baum as I haven't used it yet. As for ALU, it's short lifespan outweighs its cost and performance. In other words: it's not even remotely economical. As for Black Venom, it's a nice string, but too soft and lacks the durability of even synthetic gut. Anyone with a fast, topspin producing string should destroy Black Venom in a few hours.

I agree that reviews seem to be a bit on both ends of the spectrum. For me personally, Diamond Rough never feels as stiff as TB original. I would say it is closer in stiffness to the green version of TB but it still flexes in a different way due to the texture pattern on it. It grips the ball very well. As far as tension for me, I string this higher than original TB. Some of that is the fact that I play TB original at low tension to help with comfort but I also feel that Diamond Rough needs a bit higher tension in order to help me reign shots in. I have been playing it anywhere from 53-57lbs in both full sets and as a cross string with natural gut.

As always, everyone's opinion on string will be different and its best to try it for yourself. I still think this string will be a huge winner for them and players will inevitably use the tension and setup that is right for them.

I have hit with this string and pretty much agree with these comments, except I wouldn't go that high on the tension.

My hitting partner and I both loved this string. It has a bit more pop than TB. It's hard to describe it. As I recall it felt amost like a multi but with control.

I would say it is a must demo for anyone using a frame like a PDR or APD.

I can comment on the Max Power Rough since I currently have it in my Yonex Regna.
It felt great during first two weeks. Very lively and powerful. Good comfort and control. But then it is downhill after the first two weeks.
Already during the third week there is a noticeable drop in tension, and now the whole stringbed just feels mushy and control is lacking.

Very poor tension stability. Never again.

Two weeks, you are lucky. With any Solinco strings, I feel the difference next day.

That poster was referring to the Kirschbaum string. As for you and Rjtennis, you seem to be in the minority as plenty of posters on this board seem to like Solinco strings for their tension stability. With that said, it's truly a matter of personal preference.

What tension are you guys using with this string?
