The Tennis Channels "coverage" of the French Open is horrible. I admit I live on the west coast and I don't wake up in the early morning to watch the tennis, but you'd think they'd at least replay something resembling full matches at night. Instead I get to watch Bill Macatee with that sleezy smirk jabber about all the matches they are going to show you (in only 3.5 hours eh?), then have to deal with endless commercial breaks, half sets where they jump in and its already obvious to the viewer who is going to win, the bottom line score ticker showing all the scores for the matches they claim they will show you later, and basically no substantial tennis. Why does it have to be so short and re run like 3 times a night? Why not just start replays at 5:30 and run them til midnight or something? I don't care what roger rasheed and some random clown think about player interactions in the locker room or all the BS interviews they have on there. I can watch those any time of the year, but right now I want to watch TENNIS since this is 2 of only 8 weeks during the year when quality tennis is supposed to be on all day.
The dream that The Tennis Channel was when I first bought it in 2003 will never come to reality, because they've fallen for the trap of trying to make everyone feel important, hype up matches endlessly, and try to incorporate tennis history or some BS. I think anyone who gets the tennis channel really just wants to see tennis. None of this lame stuff, but raw tennis (remember when they covered European masters series like 3-4 years ago and it was straight tennis for like 10 hours with those BBC commentators? Thats what I'm talking about).
I almost want the old ESPN coverage back sad as it may sound
