Typhoon vs. MSV Focus Hex

I am looking to save some money on my stringing.

I currently buy reels of genesis typhoon ~$120

I have been using this string for around 8 months and have gone through 2 reels.

I break or restring every 2 - 3 weeks.

I've been looking at some of the ratings and also had a friend mention Focus Hex. It's nearly $40 cheaper and rates higher.

Has anyone compared these two strings. I know that typhoon is powerful for a poly and I feel it has very good spin as well as great tension maintenance.

Is focus hex a good alternative? Thanks!

Typhoon (and Twisted Razor) have been my string of choice for a while now. I love the feel on contact. I've tried MSV Focus Hex twice but didn't like it. Both times it felt too mushy for my taste. Typhoon has a nice solid feel on contact with a bit of pocketing. Not stiff and not mushy, solid. I don't think Focus Hex had the same qualities.

Unfortunately Typhoon seems to break on both my Prince Precision 730's on the same bottom grommet sometimes after only 30min of play. Must be due to the way the racquet was designed because it breaks on both in the same spot even though 1 looks brand new. So I am trying Kirschbaum Spiky Shark now. Not the same great feel on contact but close and gives great spin. Though, more expensive.

Have you tried SpinX? After the stringbed gets 'broken in' I feel it plays really well. Same solid but pocketing feel on contact, though not as powerful as Typhoon. $20 cheaper for a reel I think.

I did not like Hexonic especially compared to Typhoon. Felt stiff and harsh on contact and low powered in comparison.

I haven't found anything cheaper that plays as well as Typhoon or Twisted Razor. The only other strings I've liked were more expensive. You'd think Volkl Cyclone reels would be cheaper but they aren't....

Thanks! If that's the case I will stick with Typhoon. I was a huge fan of SpinX red before Typhoon came out. The only problem with it is that I didn't like it strung at lower tensions and at high tensions I couldn't get enough pop to match the tremendous spin I got. I love Typhoon at 56 or 57 lbs.

just go in the middle; not high not low!

I played with Focus Hex, then Hepta Twist, and then Typhoon.

I've gone through 3 reels of Typhoon before going back to the Focus Hex. I like Typhoon for the access of spin and durability but the Focus Hex (and Hepta Twist) gives much tighter action where you can go flatter on the ball. Because of price, though, I can't justify Hepta Twist but Focus Hex is great for $77. Got mine in 18L (1.1mm) and I'm getting ok tension at about 6 hours. It's cheap enough to restring.
