There's one in Concord..one in Walnut Creek, (SF East Bay) and then in SF. I am headed to probably Walnut Creek and will look around a bit and then ask if they have that shirt Roger Federer is wearing.

Will observe their reaction closely and report back.

A. "Um...who is Roger Federer?
B. "Oh, yes, no, not yet."
C. "Our T-shirts are over there."

I am betting on either A or C

Roger apparel will be available from 2019 onwards once RF is acquired by Uniqlo, as he has stated. There won't be anything there at the moment.

Could get some Novak' and Kei' collections only in the flagship store in Paris just before RG, it was sold out very quickly.

And go to Nike in Australia and get the same response. Specialist tennis shops is the only choice here. Hoping Uniqlo will stock some good tennis stuff, dont mind if its different to what fed wears as long as it looks good.

From an Australian perspective, since about 2015, Novak Djokovic and Kei Nishikori's gear has been seasonally available at the Uniqlo Melbourne Emporium store to correspond with the Australian Open and the series leadup tournaments in January.

You can usually get pretty much everything in terms of shorts, shirts, wristbands, hats and the jackets. They have also had some of the shiny PVC on-court equipment bags that Novak and Kei have used (not sure how popular an item like that is).

Nothing in-store or online at the moment, but I'm assuming there will be a large tennis presence again in the new year as usual.

Interesting, I wonder how hard they will push Roger once they acquire RF. I remember very vividly constantly going into uniqlo stores and them never stocking Kei’s outfits.

Djoker was on a roll and I never once saw ANYthing he wore. They better step up the marketing in the USA or this deal will flop for them. At least from the retail end. At least you could always find RF stuff online.

Federer is fading away so expect low morale at UniQlo stores. Employees will be asking why they are paid minimum wage when the company is spending millions on Federer.

As I suspected. Mentioned "Federer" and was greeted by a rapid succession of blinks, a blank stare, and no knowledge of him representing the store I was standing in. All sizes XS S M and maybe a L or two. "that's the biggest complaint about this store." If I do any ordering for UniGOAT, it will have to be online.

went to uni store at south coast plaza; had plenty of polo shirts in size xl. in fact, i bought two of them and one t-shirt also in xl. clerk was "geeked" (her word) that fed was "on board". she also had no idea who ronaldo was
You should have gone with xxl. After the first wash, their cheap crap will shrink at least a size.

Only natural fibres shrink visibly, so if you are use to the polyester princess outfits at Nike then you need to allow for natural shrinkage.

I can't say that I have noticed any untoward shrinkage with Uniqlo, but their sporting range is also mostly synthetic so no problems there.

I think that's exactly what we will be getting.

The strategy just can't be to recoup the money through hugely inflating their normal pricing structure.

And by normal pricing, I refer to their designer collections and not their basic lines.

The Nike strategy has indeed resulted in $100 shirts and $180 windbreakers, but I can't see that happening at Uniqlo.

Who do you think it's going to pay that contract?
Don't expect $50 shirts...

Do you think Uniqlo will try and do a collaborative range of regular clothes with Roger in addition to active wear, or will his role be to advocate for the existing Uniqlo range with just a specific athletic Federer line the same way djokovic was used?

I haven't had any experience with any of Uniqlo's tennis specific athletic apparel but I have some of their sweatpants, Dry Packaged T-Shirts, graphic t-shirts, and some layering stuff for winter and at their price point the quality has been much better than you can find at H&M or other fast fashion stores. I have also heard a lot of good stuff about their Airism line which is comprised of polyester undershirt and underwear that are apparently pretty good at keeping you cool and wicking sweat. Their socks are pretty comfy too I have a bunch of those as well.

Regarding their fit and material, I think Uniqlo is great for basic items for your wardrobes that will need to get replaced in the future anyway (like socks and t-shirts) but also have pretty quality items like casual dress shirts and chinos at a pretty affordable price. Planning on getting some of their athletic hoodies and shorts and stuff like that and if there is any interest I could write up a review.

My guess is that Federer might be the face of the Uniqlo U line, which is designed by the same Christophe Lemaire who did his Wimbledon outfit, as well as a sports line.

They are on record only as stating that a sports line is forthcoming in January.

But why do they have to wait to get the RF logo? I bought good Nike shirt designs Fed wore BEFORE the RF logo was created. And passed on plenty that had the logo but weren’t attractive (IMHO). The logo isn’t the reason a shirt sells or doesn’t.

We’ll see in Uniqlo follows thru; I’m skeptical and think he’s just going to be brand ambassador.

Federer is a sportsman and they have oodles of athletic gear, so of course Uniqlo will go with a premium sporting line.
