I strongly suggest anyone that missed this match watch the highlights. Not only is it impressive that Venus came back from a set down, but Serena was having a particularly good serving day. It was like 2001 out there at times. Great stuff. Good off season viewing at least :)

I remember watching this match with my grandpa. I just had a feeling that Venus would win, I don't know why.

Now here are a couple of great American Champions! Winning all those Olympic Gold Medals. What I like about the way they've approached professional tennis is the way they included so much doubles play into their careers like so many of their American predecessors. Chris Evert dropped the ball with doubles. Doubles is so engrained into American tennis is almost unpatriotic to not play!

Any day Venus and Serena play is a good day in tennis. Praise be and hallelujah!

In the "olden days" doubles use to be big, not so much these days. But I do agree doubles can add greatly to one's resume and case for goathood.

And what happened to all the hashtags, i.e #PTL? Lord willing and the creek don't rise, they WILL return!

There was a period post-Navratilova until Lindsay/Serena/Venus that American women weren't playing like they used to.

Serena and Venus and The Bryan Brothers are an example of American Doubles Grand Slam supremacy that carry a long legacy and tradition throughout tennis history.

Praise be and hallelujah!

Venus played some good matches this year, was near her peak at times but her slams results are not so good, often losing very tight (winnable) matches like against Errani at the US Open (made some bad choices in important points in this one unfortunately..).

She could have won against Kvitova at Wimby too. :(

She played SO well this year at times it was crazy. She really should have beaten Kvitova at Wimbledon and was 2 points from doing so. Still there's at least 10 REALLY good Venus matches this year that have sick highlights because of her level of play being so insane. Let's hope next year she doesn't lose these 1-2 points in slams that keep costing her winnable matches.

Do you think Venus would've won Wimbledon if she'd beaten Kvitova MN?

If she held that level, yes. But holding her level is the whole problem. She could have if she stayed fit. She made lots of finals this year and won Dubai. She probably would have had a day where she was tired though if her autoimmune thing is like mine I can only imagine how she does it sometimes, and it's a reason why even though I've always liked her, I admire her so much more now. I know how it feels.

Crazy thing during that Kvitova match, they showed that Venus' serve and groundstrokes were about 10mph slower than her peak.

I remember summer of last year most people really wanted her to retire. I always stuck by her right to decide what is best for her and enjoy her career in the way she sees fit. So, as much as I love to say I told you so, I will take this opportunity to say I told you so :D

That is pretty shocking o_O
She was probably hitting the hardest this year in Dubai, Stanford and Montreal though. I hate that she lost early at the AO, I loved that kit.
