This is turning into a long one....Verdasco keeps coming back with some inspired play. It's tough to hold the break advantage.

Haas lost :-(
He really should have won this in straight sets...

no he shouldn't have and that's why he lost

I feel awful for Haas.
Yes he should have, he was serving for the set in both the 2nd and 3rd sets and had a set point the the 3rd set TB. Tommy just can't keep it together and close out sets/matches.
would you please explain to me, is it necesarry to have set points in the 2nd and the 3rd to deserve to win the match, or you can have a set point in the 4th and 5th to deserve to win the match,or you can have a set point in any stage of the match but lose the set and eventualy the match to deserve to win the match?
Many possabilities. He is #10 now. Gonzalez a better indoor player is at #11, Soderling who might go on a tear this fall if he keeps his form is at #12, Monfils is at #13. I would say those are the only 3 immediate dangers as far as the end of this year but that is already enough to see him easily falling out of the top 10 soon if he cant start making quarterfinals or better regularly, beating other top 10 players, and stop losing to so many much lower ranked opponents.

IMO Haas played better for most of the match and outplayed Verdasco.
hardly, Verdasco earned most of his breakpoints and breaks with great shotmaking and winners and he made most of his UEs in the fourth
he even had better statistics at the net than Haas
his baseline game and passing shots were superior to Haases "brave attacking" which was mostly headless rushing to the net
serve and volley is dead,man!
taylor dent should retire
According to you Haas wasnt even executing his attacking plan that well and he still nearly won the match in 3 or 4 sets. That if anything would seem to indicate just how well truly good serve/volley tactics would work even in todays game.
