Hi, anyone tried the Volkl Tournament Pro Mid? Any feedback/specs would be greatly appreciated, in particular how it compares to the C-series frames since I've basically owned all of those (the C-7, 9, 10, and 10 Pro Tour) at one point or another.

Thanks.

Is this a new frame or are you referring to the old red and yellow one?

If it's the one from the early/mid-90s, I have one and it's got good weight and a HL balance. But man, is it stiff. I definitley prefer the feel of the C10 and some of the newer 10s.

I used to have one of the red and yellow Tournament Pros from the early 90s.
Personally I thought it was one of Volkl's best frames along with the original C10 Comp. Great control, but you certainly had to put some leverage into the shot to generate power.

this one?

I have it, man it's heavy!

This is the bomb!

VOLKL Tournament Pro Mid

Power: 2020
Swing Weight: 336 g
Headsize: 92.5
Flex: 65
Weight: 342 g

I managed to pick up a pair of these beauties.
First Tournament Pro came with 5/8 grip size and was strung with Wilson Enduro Poly. I took the to a local shop and had it reshaved down to 3/8. Replaced the grip and restrung it with ProSupex Hybrid -Cross @ 56lbs (Premier Ace) and Main 58lbs (Spiral Flex). The racquet weight at 12.5 oz.

Second Racquet was 12.2 oz and came in strung with Prince Synth. I did not have it restring yet.

I took the first Tour Pro Mid out today and played a set in doubles today. MAN! I I was very impressed with the power and control it delivers. The open string pattern is very spin friendly and deadly bite on the slice. Head light which makes it ideal around the net - great on volley and overheads . Solid on returns and very stable against heavy exchanges. The Tournament Pro plays big for a 93 head size - larger sweet spot very similar to a Yonex except it packs a lot of punch when you swings faster.

I am so glad I got these beauties ! Nice paint job as well.

Only down side is the finding replacement grommets....

If anyone has one or two spare grommets for the Tournament Pro, please let me know!

I checked the specs and the closes modern racquet to match it is the KBlade Tour. The Tournament Pro is frame is stiffer than Becker 11, otherwise everything else is pretty similar.

Here's more close up of this beautiful racquet (before I had it restrung with Pro Supex Hybrids)

Good find. I got a chance to hit with these in the past and the grommets were the biggest reason why I didn't look for any further. I thought these were a more comfy Pro Staff Classic 6.1; I hit with a good amount of spin, power and plow with the Pro Mid in a more comfortable package. The Pro Mid swung a little heavier than the Pro Staff Classic 6.1 but they were fairly similar.

I hope you stick with these for a while; the closest thing to it currently is the Becker 11 Mid but it has a more rectangular grip shape than the Pro Mid.

Best racquet Volkl ever made. Great flex, feel and power. Everything else is second fiddle.

That's a little too enthusiastic but hey, each his own :)
I have one too and it's not my cup of tea, not that its a bad stick, not at all but it's beam is too thick, it's quite clumsy too, SW is very high, power is great though, you can serve bombs with that racket.

Having play N6.1 90 , SRD 90 , K90 and RDS001 90 , RDS002 Tour - the Tournament Pro Mid Swingweight is right around my choice of specs.

I plan to add a some weight at the butt cap on the second Tour Pro, its at 12.2oz iright now and t felt a little light for me.

I think this is the most powerful mid sized Volkl racquet - it does feel like you are playing a 98 head size (similar feel to RDS002 Tour). The head size just feels right ; I did think the beam is a little thicker compared to Tour 10 VE but once I start hitting with this racquet I was impressed. I am 4.0 - all court player; I need a racquet that is easy to manuever and it did not feel clumsy at all.

I have one that's never been strung. I may have to now...

You might want to adjust the tension to lower tension if you are accustomed to the more flexier Volkl frame. The Tournament Pro is a little more stiffer than most mid sized Volkl made these day.

I am right at home the hybdrid at 56 main / 58 cross

Let me know how it plays after you string it.

I took this the Volkl Tournament Pro again for a spin the other day in a match. This gem did not disappoint - serve was just as precise offering ample spin and power when needed.
Played against an opponent who likes to charge the net (all court, serve and volley). Thought I give this dude a taste of his medicine - I was whipping passing shots with a lot of variety one after the another of both side. I thought it would be hard to hit 1hbh passing shots dtl - I was surprised with a thicker 20 mm head, the frame was very manuverable.
There is no shortage on the power - my forehand shot was just going insane.

Overall, the Tournament Pro edged out the K blade Tour specially on the Serve and the Spin level.

I have been very impressed with Volkl mids - I 've been playing the BB11 Mid, DNX10 mid and the Tournament Pro 93 - all have been just pure fun.

Next in line would be the Tour 10 VE and C10 Pro tour mid (still waiting for delivery).
