The fact that Allie Sherlock is still busking on Grafton says a lot about how much the music industry has changed over the years. I think she's been at it for a decade now (give or take a few years) and keeps busking despite having made a probable few million from YouTube, and other ventures based on her social media popularity over the years. Her busking videos are like the tour and album revenue bands of yesterday relied upon. YouTube artists usually make surprisingly little, but when you get the number of subscribers, likes and views as Sherlock, it becomes lucrative. The music business is tough these days, and I'm glad to see Allie doing well.
I like to check out the buskers of Grafton every now and then, as much for the crowds that gather as the performers. There's often a shared bonding and exaltation, with the crowd and performer having a good time together. Allie and some of her cohorts sometimes bring mundane rail cars alive with their love of music.
