Federer will need to make a statement in Rome that he's still around and is still dangerous. He doesn't have a lot of points to defend there too, so it's a good chance for him to get back the points he lost at MC.

Its quicker in Rome so he wont have to force the issue as much so he should make less errors.

I would LOVE IT if he came to Rome with a higher first serve percentage and the "old" forehand back. That would make my YEAR!!!!

Hopefully he's still in a good mood after his wedding and will show the confidence we've been wanting to see.:)

Yes, but somehow last year he got his worst clay result in Rome. In all other tournys he reached the final.
Not just last year, in 2007 as well (lost to Volandri). I don't know what it is about Rome. I don't understand why Federer generally does better in Monte-Carlo than in Rome. Isn't the clay in Monte-Carlo slower?

the guy's done, he's accomplished a lot, can we move on please?? ffs!

Yeah right? The guy is still getting to slams finals on a consistent basis and still beating almost anyone on tour (except for a few, lately). The guy is not done as far as I am concerned.

Some days the forehand will work, other days it just won't. It will almost certainly break down under pressure. If there was any one thing he could do to fix it he would have figured it out by now. The backhand remains vulnerable and his first serve percentage is down ~10% on what it was when he won his 13 GS.

He just has to hope that it gets better. It might. I predict it won't. Not in time for Rome anyway.
