What do you think of this starting knot for crosses ?

Never liked the idea of a starting knot for crosses, Puts to much pressure on that one point, it's not consistent. Better to just clamp it. But yeah, I like it. :)

First of all I don't have the patience to watch long videos so I admit I did not watch it all. The knot he ties at first is a Pro knot and not a good starting knot. All I can say is it a damn good thing he is using a poly string or he will never get the pro knot to hold.

I understand what you're saying and the idea behind it - but i do think back and forth about starting clamp vs starting knot...

with a starting knot, the tension on your first cross (or first few?) is referenced exactly from the knot

with a starting clamp, the tension on your first cross is referenced exactly from that same point, although this time it's held by a clamp, but the second you move that clamp (from pulling), that "reference" point has changed entirely? doesn't that cause more inconsistency? this would be the only string that would be pulled twice... ? wouldn't a "good" starting knot be more consistent? especially for strings that are more sensitive to tension maintenance/stretch/pre-stretch?

You have to use a bulky knot.. I don't like bulky knots... They don't look nice..lol
