What is at stake for Nadal and Djokovic in 2013 U.S. Open final

If Novak wins, he will have won 6 hard court grand slams, tying him with Andre Agassi for the third most.

He will have won 6 grand slams in three years, a feat only achieved by Borg, Sampras, Federer, and Nadal.

If Novak loses, he will be 1-4 in U.S. Open finals, which would be the second worst record among the 8 players who reached 4 or more U.S. Open finals.

If Nadal wins, he will become the first player in the open era to win the French Open, Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open at least twice.

He will join Borg, Sampras, and Federer as the only players in the open era to have won at least two grand slams in a year in three different years.

If Nadal loses, he will be 3-5 in Wimbledon and U.S. Open finals, compared to Federer being 12-2 in the two biggest tennis tournament finals.

If he loses, he will join Agassi and Federer as the only players to lose 4 grand slam finals or more to one player.

Good work. Some others...

If Djokovic loses, he will be 1-8 in finals at Cincinnati and the US Open combined.

If Nadal loses, he will be 2-4 against his main generational rival in major finals (or maybe he'll tie it at 3-3?)

Nadal can make it 5-5 in non-clay slam finals if he wins, but will drop to 4-6 if he loses.

Of all the feats you mentioned, this would be the most impressive. Being multiple champion at the world's three biggest events (each played on a different surface) in the Open Era, would be a monumental feat.

Yes, it would be be almost as impressive as winning at least 4 titles at 4 of the 5 biggest tennis tournaments as Federer has done. Only two players have even won at least 2 titles at 4 of the 5 biggest tennis tournaments.

Everything. The most important match in their respective careers so far. The most anticipated tennis match since Wimby '08.

Is it anymore important than Aus 2012, or the French 2013 encounters? There was certainly more on the line at the latter. Nadal was going for his 8th French and Nole for his first (both massive in their own way).

the bolded bit is subjective. The 4 slams are equal.
