- Djokovic was serving big in both 1st and 2nd serves yet he stood close to baseline thus allowing Djoker to run away with his service games.
- no seriousness. While djoker was real real focussed, thus guy seemed like having fun. He was hit and miss. He just gifted away the 5th set

Well he is clearly the guy at college who was the best tennis player and flaunted it and got the girls and probably was disrespectful to less good looking and talented guys.
Looks to me he still thinks he is at college where everyone looked up to him. The reality is he got mugged by a 33 year old unable to rotate into his shots.

I also think a lot of fans are impatient for the young guns to step up. Fritz is the 27th seed, has been on the radar for a while, and he had an opportunity in that match. I'm puzzled why he didn't take it if Djokovic was injured. What the hell has Fritz and his team been doing if they haven't been prepping for moments like that?

And probably very proud of taking him to five sets. He didn’t go to college, but seems to be trying to replicate it with his boys Opelka and Tommy Paul. Nothing wrong with that, but not really conducive to building the kind of attitude needed for big wins.

Exactly. (Replace college with school ). He seemed delighted it went to 5 sets. More robust players mentally would have realised they lost to a guy unable to hit forehands two points in a row. No positives for fritz.

An example would be someone who is always running his mouth about how he dislikes Djokovic, and then admits he doesn't even know why, having the nerve to criticize people who seem to dislike Fritz and urges them to "just let it be," advice he seems incapable of utilizing himself.

He is a mediocre player with absolutely zero weapons and needs A LOT of improvements if he ever wants to even think about contending for a slam. He’s also a part of that weird American contigent of young men (minus Tiafoe) who all clearly think too highly of themselves and act in incredibly douchy ways on and off the court.

Ugh, he has a kid and is divorce. That means he has to pay child support as well as alimony payments, his assets split at least 50%+ too. He now has alot more overhead and have to pay a lawyer to handle his child support and alimony issues.

It's ok. He's made 4 million in prize money and cash from sponsors so he'll be able to pay the lawyer's bills. Plus, he made 895K last year, so even half that, he's got about 450K. If it costs 150 k to be a pro player as I've read, on average, he's still cashing out 300K, plus sponsorship. Say he pays 1/3rd tax, he's still clearing 200k. He's doing OK.
Because he’s another American male player who has been overhyped. The skill set/results just don’t match the hype. I’ve said this before there needs to be a limit of how many years you can be “up and coming” . I feel like guys like Fritz and Tiafoe have never made that next move, like say a Jen Brady on the female side.

Most young players are dissed on this forum when they have a good chance to beat the Big 3 player that a particular poster hates at a Slam and then the young player doesn’t come away with the victory. Happened to better players like Thiem, Medvedev and Berettini in the past and now it is happening to Fritz.

The US media has hyped Fritz for years, you are either ignoring or not paying attention.
The comparison to Brady is because Brady has turned the corner and Fritz is still the same guy he’s been, despite taking Novak to five sets. He‘s the same guy who lost 2 and 4 to Chardy in the lead up tournament, did you forget that one because it didn’t fit the argument!
”And he’s 23 years old”, look at the guys in his age group, Tsitsipas, Shapo, Berrentini, FAA, Zverev etc, the distance between talent, athleticism and most importantly accomplishments is miles.

I’ve watched a few Opelka matches and it’s not always but there are frequent moments where he takes his anger out on the umpires for no reason. Sometimes members of the audience. I do remember a specific match where he almost got into it with Fognini. He also recently has got into online scuffles with tennis fans online and seems to have a lot of issues with the Covid protocols. All of this has made me really dislike him.

Ok, I misunderstood your reference to Brady, you were saying she has taken the next step, my bad. I do agree that when Fritz first turned pro he was hyped, but I haven't really seen that lately ? At any rate, there are no good American players so I think you can expect the media to pay some attention to him, not necessarily hype. My last point is that Jen Brady is 25, so she's two years older than Fritz and she only turned the corner in the past year, maybe you don't need to write him off just yet.

I saw him win the Newport Beach challenger tournament in early 2019. Went to see if he had the potential to be a top pro. I felt that his serve and FH were solid, but his BH and movement were worse than average compared to other top 10 pros I’ve watched. So, another classic model of the modern American player who can win quick points on fast courts, but is not a candidate to win big on the slow courts which make up the bulk of the ATP calendar.

Fritz is a good example of why the Big 3/4 are so rare. They had remarkably stable personal lives, and remarkably few distractions. THF was really on the rise when he knocked up his girl and got married as a teenager, and later divorced because of course accidentally getting pregnant at a you g age isn’t a recipe for long term relationship success. Totally derailed his focus and development
