It's hard to take Zverev seriously right now tbh. I haven't watched him in Geneva, but I know he let another lead slip before ultimately winning. I've never seen a guy with so many swings of momentum. He can't be trusted to close anything out or show up for deciding sets. Have to go with his usual 4R/QF result here. Hell, he could lose to Millman with the way his season has gone so far.

Much like Rafa waiting until Rome to peak for Paris, Sascha waited until Geneva.

Watch out everybody, ol gold chains is back!

Just seeing Zverevs results this week shows his priorities. Shame he is grinding 250s days away from a slam. I dont expect much from him. Maybe 4th round.

As a faithful Zverev fan, I voted for him to win the tournament, but I'll gladly take a 4R defeat if it means he wins his 3R match against Lajovic :)

Would love for Zverev to win the thing, but given his clay-court season so far, not to mention his past record in GS tournaments, it seems unlikely.

R4 or QF seems like the most likely, and wouldn't be such a bad result for him to restart his season as he's moving to the grass.

you don't have faith in him in a potential clash against the serbian number 1?

Honestly, a 4th round loss (if a hard fought match) is not a bad result for him considering his year so far. You are right, playing in Geneva does hurt his RG chances, but in all honesty, he needs that confidence in the big picture. Plus, who knows, maybe it will be enough confidence to get to the QF.

Exactly. Had he not played in Geneva, I could've totally seen him losing in 4 sets against Millman and continue having a nightmare of a year. That's how low his confidence was. At least now he has a title to his name, and some very close matches won to reassure him he can still win under pressure.

Maybe RG won't be the place to have a deep run, but he has never been brilliant at bo5, even last year when he was on fire during the clay season. So, for now, he can excuse whatever crappy result he may have there, keep in mind how close those matches will probably be, and focus on turning around the rest of his year on the tour level.

I think Zverev might surprise all of us at FO.

I mean he was in th QF last year, won the WTF less than a year ago. He can clearly do well here in RG, and should.

Now yes, he has been playing bad of late, but I don't think a QF or a first round loss would surprise me.

Now if you tell me he will make the finals. Then I am shocked.

Zverev has been quiet this clay season. He tends to get a surprize results out of the blue. I think SF or better is on the cards.

I disagree. He's still a Madrid and Rome champion. And, he made the RG QF last year. Anything less is a bad result.

Sure, if he hadn’t been struggling like crazy. To think he is just going to miraculously jump right back to a QF or better is wishful thinking. I doubt he is expecting that. To him, in his current state, losing in the fourth round to a Fognini is not a bad result. In fact, i would argue that it will give him something to grow on for the grass season. Or maybe this is just something we have to get used to. A Dimitrov of sorts, massive highs and massive lows that average out to an average player.

Wishful thinking or not, losing to "a Fognini" or anyone else in his draw up to the QF would be a bad result. And, I don't think Zverev played Geneva simply to gain confidence to make it to the 4th round of RG. I think he is expecting more than that, as he should be.

"As he should be." Based on what? His shaky Geneva win? If you looked at results on paper, and watched his play, as well as his comments from the start of 2019, there would be nothing that tells you this is a top 20 player that "should" expect to make a QF or better.

Now if you asked me what he should expect at RG for 2019 back in December I would say SF or final. But a lot has happened, or in his case not happened the last 6 months.

Sascha should be able to play freely against Djokovic. Noone will blame him of he loses, and of he wins it would be a great result.

Given his year so far, hard to see him taking out Novak. But if Djokovic's level dips and Sascha finds somewhere near his best form, this might not be as straightforward as many think.

Maybe Zverev has the talent to take out Djoker but HE does not have the emotional fortitude or heart.

At least he made the QF

Sascha Zverev's final result at the 2019 French Open became the QF where he lost to World No. 1 and 15-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic 7:5, 6:2, 6:2. For Sascha, it was the second QF participation to attend Grand Slam tournaments.
