When Alcaraz wins it's the second coming, when he loses he's a lost cause. The kneejerking is incredible.

It's not just the losses, but also the manner of it. He's gotten overpowered and overwhelmed by sinner, med, zverev and has looked without any ideas on how to stop them. He's comparatively performed better against Djokovic.

No we don't. One fanbase is generating all this hatred towards Carlos since yesterday. Any sane person celebrates him as a great champion, a wonderful kid, incredibly charismatic. Roger at 20 had won 2 events and was a ridiculous headcase. I seem to recollect he had an OK career.

Also, it's normal for a player who is successful young to have something like a "sophomore slump" after a year or two of success and then regain momentum. It didn't really happen to Nadal in a meaningful way (although the second half of 2006 wasn't that great for him), but it did happen to Sampras in 1991, to Chang in 1990, to Becker in 1987, to Wilander in 1984, and to some extent to Djokovic in 2009 and 2010. Alcaraz was never likely to have a long career with no dips in form. Almost nobody does manage that.

Alcaraz is still one of the favorites for Roland Garros this year, and in with a good chance of a strong year overall.

The overreactions are indeed ridiculous. Do people really think Alcaraz has literally everything figured out at 20? The success of the big 3 has caused a 20+ slams or bust mentality.

I'm just enjoying the journey. Whether or not Alcaraz will become a big 3 level talent doesn't matter to me. Yes, I believe he will win more slams, but even if he doesn't I will still be his fan.

Which fanbase? I don’t see Djokovic fans dissing Raz much

I am not a fan but I second every word you said. If his body holds I am confident he will do great things.

The Sinner

A lot of trash talk on here everytime Alcaraz loses. The same is happening with Sinner.
... but the reality is:

We are witnessing a new era, the Sinraz era.

Good times ahead people.

One thing people ignore is that Alcaraz has now reached the Quarters or better at all the slams and he's only 20. A lot of the hate towards Alcaraz is because he's seen to be the player who puts the nails into the Djokovic coffin, ultimately Djokovic doesn't have that long left on tour.

He's a talent, he's young and there is still room for improvement. I like him, I like his fight, his style and I hope he stays injury free and wins boat loads of Slams. He's a two time slam winner.

Why suddenly turn on him? My worry about Alcaraz is that Djokovic lives rent free in his head after Cincinnati, he doesn't need that mental baggage.
Name one person here who did what you said in the title.
In fact, to all his believers, when he loses, he is only 20 and cute, and the 2nd coming.
To the non-believers, his tennis (mental, physical, technical, strategic) has holes in it that have been exploited by more and more players over the last 6 months. The hype can take a break. He will keep losing if he doesn't work hard to fix them, even on clay.

?
One person? How about me who's logically pencilled Djokovic for this AO since at least November last year?

He has like 4 people here who legitimately are fans of his. We are well aware of the holes in his game.

Whether he wins or loses, he remains a twenty year old who has plenty to improve upon.

Growing pains will be felt no matter who you are. Alcaraz included. I forgive his lapses the same way I forgive Rune's and those of Sinner's.

I was a kid who dumped on Nadal for being a clay bully who is easily taken out by the likes of Gonzales back in the day. Thankfully I've grown since and have learnt to have a perspective when it comes to young phenoms.

Oh and it is an observable fact that plenty of his fans are only really transient fans who want the end of Djokovic.

He has far more haters here than otherwise -- and this includes frustrated Fedal fans and obnoxious Djokovic fans. It is the truth.

Now I do understand the perspective of Fedal fans and understand the vitriol some Djokovic fans spew towards Carlos but I reiterate that he has far more people eager to dump on him than otherwise.

He is just 20 and 2 slams already. Zverev was killing it with serve. Tough oponnent. It will be better in the future. Just keep on playing.
