When will we stop making fun of Berdych?

My conclusion? Guy should have a LOT more Masters Titles. Those are finishes, not totals. Which means 42 Quarterfinal appearances and 1 bloody titles. Pathetic.

???????? So if it was not an easy road, and he still won all of his matches, kudos to Berdych.
On paper it was - for Berdych it isn't.

2 seeds out of five matches is pretty standard. That's the benefit of being a TOP TEN player, so you don't have to play tougher players early. Maybe you don't know how draws actually work....???
Maybe you don't know how draws work. Usually a player seeded 10th should encounter a player ranked between 20 and 30 in the third round - and higher ranked seeds thereafter. Berdych has only encountered two seeds ranked outside the top 20. That's an easy draw.

He might not have had the toughest draw ever but you can only beat who's in front of you and the semifinal's a pretty good result for Berdych considering most people were completely writing him off after his disaster in Rome. I think getting rid of Vallverdu might have taken some weight off his shoulders and since then he's reached the quarterfinal at RG(losing to the eventual champion) and the semis at Wimbledon where the same thing may occur. He'll likely never have the necessary mental strength to beat the very best players at the latter stages of major tournaments but credit where it's due for his consistency.
I still think he's done myself.

A win is a win. Who cares how you get there? Nadal struggles with everyone and people laud over him. Berdych crushes most players below him and has a 71% winning percentage career wise at Grand Slam level. Maybe give some of his opponents credit, but if he doesn't win in straights....that's your criticism? YAWN.

So it's his fault if the other seeded players don't make it through? Hmmmm....wonderful logic there. He is reaping the benefits of being a top performer...hence, as you say an easy draw.

You're making my point exactly. If Berdych is so bad in the eyes of all you internet trolls, then how come he's consistently the one still playing in the later rounds?

Berdych was my favorite player until I became utterly enamored with Djoker. But I still root for Berdych.
Come on people, the dude can play some serious power tennis...and my adoration for him has nothing to do with his newfound social media frenzy (I don't subscribe to Twitter/MySpace/Facebook, etc). Nonetheless, his power is the next best thing to Delpo, but everyone hates on this guy. What the what? He is indisputedly the gatekeeper...maybe even moreso than Ferrer. For those of you who love Ferrer's game, thing of Berdych like a large and in charge Ferrer. This guy gets no love...like ever. Why is that? The guy always gets the shaft. The media has given him no chance/no discussion of making a move in this tournament. If I am Berdych, I'm giving everyone a big f u in the face and playing my heart out this next match. I hope he does that.

Maybe I'm a sucker, but I really think he can show all of us a thing or two.

Berdych could be dangerous for Murray, Tomas has got to fire himself up as this could be a great opportunity for him.

I love his weighty shots, and root for him against anybody but Federer, Stan and Lopez :)

He's played a very tough era, and I respect him for hanging in there while Fedalovic have grabbed all the slams.

I think it would be awesome if he can put up a real fight against prince Andy!

You can't have it both ways, saying weak era all the time and then calling his draw weak because he beat 2 youngsters that apparently stepped up for the occasion (Vesely and Pouille).
We'll see but I wasn't that impressed with Berdych.

The thing about Berdych, for me, is he's made R16 at majors 30 times. His record (as of Sw19 '16) is 15-15. He's 6-9 in QFs.
Now obviously these are achievements 99% of tennis players would kill for.
But Berdych is the epitome of a "second week player." He reaches the second week but rarely wins a match there.

So yeah I'll never rag on a guy for winning, but it's almost comical how often he wins 3-4 matches at a major before bombing out right on time.

I like Berdych. IMO like Tsonga, he should of won at least 1 slam with the power baseline game he's got. If Roddick peaked in the wrong years, same could be said of Berdych. Based on his result of the last year, I was pretty convinced he was slowly declining, but since he showed the door to Vallerdu, he's been able to turn things around which does surprise me. His H2H with Murray isn't that bad, I wouldn't be surprised to see an upset tomorrow. As far as his reputation goes, he always that a reputation for being an a**. However, after the Almagro incident, I find he's humbled out a bit.
