I'd say Federer is easily the most idolized over the past 10 years, Nadal second of course.
BTW that Senna documentary is probably the best I've ever seen, so emotionally and masterfully done. I can easily see why the man was idolized by so many.

Are you off your rocker? Sharapova has 7 million FB fans, how many does Serena have? Not even a million. On twitter Serena has over 2 million I think but how does that compare to Sharapova's 7 million on FB? Worldwide Sharapova is 20 times more popular than Serena Williams. Stop being delusional. You were the only one who voted for Serena in that poll about who should be the women's face of tennis. Doesn't that tell you something?

Serena was rated one of the most hated athletes of all time. She is not even in the discussion about most idolized tennis players.

However, Maria was featured in SI swimsuit, appears as a model in advertisements for non-tennis products, has done runway modeling, and...and...and.

Serena is absolutely popular, very much so!!! However, she is not even close to the popularity or marketability of Maria Sharapova.

point 1- so has serena. in fact she did it before maria.
point2- marketability is a made up term to replace facts. all it means is ad agencies have pushed her more than serena doesn't mean it has worked. the casual fan barely knows maria. all sports fans have a knowledge of serena....and as far as popularity, maria doesn't come close. most see her, rightly or wrongly, as a wannabe anna k. she has to do publicity stunts like a fake haircut to get attention. whether ppl love her or hate her, ppl pay to see serena.

I always thought Venus was more well liked than her sister here, she was one of my fave athletes as a teenage girl. That's just my perspective as a Brit, I don't have much sway between Serena and Shaps.
