Seriously, who can stop Federer? I've been looking back through his activity at his last few loses. Henman beat him in Rotterdam, same in Paris, lost to Ferrero in 3 in Madrid, and lost to Ljubicic in Basel closely too. But this year, 21-1!!!! I assume he'll start beating Henman soon, and even an on-fire Agassi couldn't take him. He cruised his nemesis' Hewitt and Nalbandian pretty easily, crushed the tired Ferrero and Safin, beat an on-fire Lopez, and killed everyone here in IW until Agassi. I mean, he'll eventually start losing, won't do as well on clay obviously, but I mean seriously, even this week when we've practically all admitted that he ain't playing super well, he still is in the finals and could win the tourney. Miami next week will be good to see. If he could do the double with these masters, that would be insane.

Nobody can stop Feds. Only Fed can stop himself. My slam picks have Agassi nowhere in the big picture this year.

I'm not sure if he's gonna do as well in Miami coz Roger had said that the heat in IW doesn't bother him, but the humidity in Miami does.

They said the same thing abour Hewitt for a year and a half. And it happened. He got distracted with lawsuits and family things and his game fell apart. Don't worry, there'll be someone along sooner or later, or Fed may do a do a self-distruct or get injured. Or someone with a bigger game will come along or get it together.

I agree there'll always be somebody coming along. Heck, even now I think there's still that top few who can challenge him, throwing in Safin or Hewitt...but I certainly won't wish for injuries. That's just low low low...

Oh I don't want him to stop winning. I want him to win everything (unless it's Moya, but if Fed was gonna win the grand slam and Moya was his last opponent, I'd go with Fed). I also heard that Fed said he didn't plan to do well in IW, but he wanted to win Miami. I actually heard he liked that tourney better (his previous results reflect this for sure).

Federer is on a hot streak right now. How long will it last? Who knows? Right now, he looks invincible.

That said, what's the longest hot streak you remember seeing a top player make? In '99 Agassi won the French, and then proceeded to win or make the final of each slam through the 2000 Australian. That was about a 9 month hot streak.

I'm gonna support Federer tomorrow but unlike you all, i'm not that confident... Federer was FAR from his best level today and won because he executed some INSANE shots at the end (that forehand down the line on the break point)... If you watched the match, you probably noticed that he served pretty bad and that his topspin backhand was not as good as usually... He is gonna have to serve way better tomorrow if he wants to win... By the way I don't even think that Agassi played that great today (even though he began very well)... I was pretty disapointed with the level of the match compared to how they played in the round robin at the masters cup... Anyways, GO ROGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although Andy didn't win as big of titles relatively (sorta), you have to remember he had a 27-1 record at one point in the summer (from Indianapolis thru USO). And a 37-2 from Queens thru USO.

Henman

Henman is one of the few players that can beat the current version of Federer. He has the confidence, the right style of game and the renewed commitment to apply his new convictions. The odds favor Federer in this match because of his all-around genius. As Agassi said, that genius is expressed in the ability (and the shotmaking and movement that goes with this) to adapt his game to the opponent's. Still, Tim has beaten him 6 of 7 times and has never looked better. He has improved his serve and backhand, and volleys just as effectively as Rafter used to.

In the overall picture, Federer should dominate for some time. However, Roddick keeps improving, imo, and Safin may eventually become steadier. Who knows even the potential of a player like Labadze, were he, say, twenty pounds lighter. Not to say that 'code violation, chair umpire' Irikli Labadze is the next contender, only that you never know. Johansson...Fish...

I think some of the top players can beat him if they follow Agassi's lead today. Fed often plays the first half a dozen games in low-gear, and usually plays pretty even with the competition. Then he kicks it up to a level where few can follow. If a player can put early pressure on him and keep it up (and only a few can), they have a chance. Agassi had his chance today.

Ok, this is loveable. Federer no has a 1,200 point lead in the entry rankins I think over Ferrero (or mayb Roddick now, Roddick didn't change at all, but Ferrero might have lost a few). That's more than a grand slam win from scratch. Basically, no one is gonna catch him really for a while. All he has to defend now is 125 points from Miami, none in Monte Carlo, 350 in Rome, and 75 in Hamburg. 175 in Munich too, but none at the French. He's gonna be raising his rank even more coming up here soon. Also, in the champions race, I think he's up 221 points or something like that on Safin, whose #2. He's almost got half as many points as he got total last year.

I don't see Fed losing his #1 spot unless he plays poorly during the clay season (which I doubt will happen) and crashes out in the early rounds of Wimbledon (which I don't see happening either).

And PCMD, Ferrero is still #2 (Roddick needed to win his QF against Henman to overtake Ferrero).
