He wasn’t a troll really. But he wasn’t a weak era denier and that’s why people didn’t like him.

These days the majority believes there has never been a weaker era than now so the tide has turned a bit.

I miss clay in the 90's... it was lightning fast back in the day... every clay court is so slowed down nowadays, sigh...

No, but there were variation back then. There were some amazing clay tournaments in the early 90s. Most likely the strongest era of clay that’s ever been.

An extremely tedious and nasty troll. He still posts on MTF if for whatever reason, one wants to experience him.

Any era of clay that doesn’t have Nadal in it can’t be the strongest era of clay. What happened to those awesome clay tournaments anyway?

Apparently he was a Sampras fan who was half a Nadal fan but solely because of Federer dislike. The famous No Excuses thread was supposedly a declaration that whoever won AO 17 was, without question, the GOAT.

I'm told Federer fans should regret his passing since whenever he predicted Fed would do badly he won.
I tried searching for this thread. Couldn't get it.

I think it got deleted by admins here. It's a bit of a shame because it was as memorable as the "Cincy, the real slam" thread. The same kind of "Federer will lose and that will be proof that he's not the best" rhetoric that got beaten by reality.

One of the elder statesmen should post a screenshot of the not 'nuff said, plenty of excuses, lost all my marbles thread for the uninitiated. Truth be told, I'd never set foot outside equipment forums here before I got injured and it's the ridiculous trolls here that have made my recovery much more interesting than the sane, rational, observant and insightful fans here. I never post in threads made by some of the usual suspects on general principle, but I do get a Banderas-style kick out of reading the drivel they put together.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why 90s Clay got banned?

I joined TTW in November 2017. Since then I have encountered the name of 90s Clay on numerous occasions; mostly as a ridicule by the current users. But never quite understood why it is so.

So who is/was '90s Clay'? What's his/her legacy on TTW?
I am going to be in these forums for one year, and I have a similar question about Sureshs, with the only difference that I still see him posting in these forums.
I asume that he was banned for awhile, as his avatar reads.
How was the relationship/interaction between Sureshs and '90s Clay? Did they get along well?
Well, I know that this is a General Pro Player discussion, but these posters seem to be celebrities in their own right.

Yes..the veterans on the forum should enlighten the newcomers like us about the anecdotes of the past.

'90's Clay wasn't all bad. He has good historical knowledge of the game. I think he enjoyed the sport more in the '80's and '90's, which I can respect. He just hates Fed so much, which creates a weird conundrum. It forced him to root for Rafa, which is funny because you could also tell he hates Rafa's type of tennis and the state of the game (Atari pong matches). I enjoyed having him here so we could laugh when Fed succeeded. He would write off all of Fed's success as playing against weak era mugs.

This is my vision. He couldn’t accept the fact that Fed so quickly wiped most of what Sampras did out of the record books. So, using the limited brain power his parents bestowed upon him, he lashed out at the competition Fed played against and elevated those Sampras played against to almost mythical levels. At times it was hysterical - but mostly sad. I’m sure if Sampras himself had read any of it he would have just shaken his head and said “Dude, let it go....”

What are the odds that 90s Clay was Sampras himself? He doesn't make many public appearances anyway. Might just have joined TTW as 90s Clay to pass his time. Also, deliberately uses 'Clay' in his name to avoid suspicion, clay being his weakest surface.

To be honest, Sureshs dominated 90's Clay throughout their TTW careers in their H2H of failed prediction threads. 90's Clay was more of a transitional troll, following from the great pre-2014 era of Bullzilla and the likes, whereas Sureshs is known for his longevity and success across multiple TTW eras. Sureshs' greatest masterpiece, IMO, was his crowning of Cincy as "The Real Slam" in 2009. You'd really have to read it from start to finish to truly comprehend why he is held in such high esteem. I have never come across a poster with so much jinxing ability before

Sampras himself was pretty chill about Fedr surpassing him.

Some guy who used caps a lot and made the exact same thread 1000 times before he was banned. He was good at drawing attention from the lowest common denominator of TT. And apparently still is.

He had zero knowledge of the game in the 80ies, and, surprisingly, very very little (if any) knowledge or respect for the game in Sampras's time.

In fact, I have caught him several times disrespecting grass court tennis, which would have never happened with a true Sampras fan.

He is a kid that passionately hates Federer (for whatever reason) and nothing much beyond that, but you are correct that in his hate he sided with Federer's detractors.

Bookmarked for future reading.
What are some other gems from yesteryears? We newbies should be enlightened about the rich heritage of TTW.

Some of these beauties have sadly been deleted, but a quick list below - consider this a "starter pack" of legendary threads:

1. "Poor Murray, got destroyed once more, LOL" - started by some user called Buckethead. Celebrated all of Murray's losses from 2010 till about mid-2015 (when the thread was removed), just seemed to get funnier by the day, especially once Murray actually started winning Slams. Spawned several sequel threads for other top players

2. "Nadal is FINNISH" - started by Halba1 (a Rafa fan) in 2011 I think. One incorrectly spelled word spawned one of the biggest TTW memes going.

3. This - https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/where-is-nadal.526427/

4. This - https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/official-sureshs-tribute-thread.527002/

5. The 90's Clay "NO EXCUSES!!!" and "Federer should just forfeit the match" threads - started on 27 Jan 2017. Came to fruition on 29 Jan 2017. https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/fed-needs-to-just-forfeit-the-match.581652/

6. "It's a digrace, it's an scandal, its a outrage!" (deliberate spelling) - started by Cesc Fabregas, in response to Hewitt getting to play on Chatrier in 2010, relegating Rafa to Court Suzanne Lenglen - used as a basis for all future scheduling controversies and is another source of hilarity among older users. https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/its-a-digrace-its-an-scandal-its-a-outrage.329569/

I’m astonished. It’s about time TTW creates a forum on his name.

funny thing is he's not wrong! Fed at 53 wouldn't be winning in 04-09
