Pretty incredible how Stan, not anywhere near an ATG, has been Novak's toughest challenge at the AO in his career.

I'm still thankful to Stan for this match.
This game was really 50-50
If you see Stan won while returning this from match point that way
Definitely mentally better than Federer.

Inb4 Muzza fanboys appear and say you're not allowed to compare Wawrinka with Sir Andrew, while their ATG shall be compared with any and each member of the Big 3 !

My real mystery is that a player who was almost unknown until 2012
It's surprising to step up from 2013 and upset Djokovic at the 2014 Australian Open.
No surprise.

Stan better at the first 2 slams, Murray better at the last 2. I think that should be fair.

I would say though that Murray was overall more consistent at the AO than Stan making 5 finals to Stan's 1 although, of course, Stan made good on his sole appearance there.

Consistency is good, but Stan beat Djokovic, so that alone gives him the edge and makes Murray's better consistency a bit irrelevant.

Really?
Stan and Andy are completely different players.
You can't just play a way.

Because Stan at his peak is a far superior tennis player to Murray. Murray is more consistent though which I give him credit for

Really? Stan never won any of his Slams in straight sets though, unlike Murray, and Murray schooled peak Stan at his favourite Slam where he was defending champion. Even now he still owns their H2H.

Well, true of course. Stan has an AO title and beat Djokovic there which, surprisingly, Murray was never able to do.
Not true, let alone "of course".

Muzza 5 finals, 4 lost to the best and 1 to the 2nd best ever at AO, 1SF, 1QF
Wawa 1 final won against an injured 1-time winner, 2SF, 2QF

Muzza better, not really even that close.

Lol. What kind of question is this? Murray and Stan are two completely different players (in terms of playing style) cos one is defensive whereas the other is offensive.
The only thing they have in common is that they both have 3 grand slams, that's about it.
As others have mentioned, Murray isn't a naturally offensive player, and Stan doesn't play good defense, his ROS is one of his biggest weaknesses.
So asking him to play more like Stan does against Djokovic doesn't make sense and he would probably struggle in trying to execute such as an aggressive playing style.

Stan has way heaiver groundstrokes than Murray for one. He also didn't capitulate mid-match like Murray did in most of his AO matches against Djokovic.

What is best slam match you think Murray has played vs a top player?

Wawrinka winning RG 2015 is way more impressive than Murray beating him in the semifinals of 2016 and then totally collapsing after the first 40 minutes in the final.

2013 was Murray's best chance, bur he decided to mug up a straight set victory over roger in a 5 set victory, and that ultimately cost him.
