Wilson Burn 95 - Exceptional mix of control, feel, and power

Is there someone who can share some thoughts about swing-weight of this frame comparing to Yonex Vcore 95D? 95D is currently my favorite one, and I'd like to know how this burn 95 swings.

Just finished playing with the B95 and wow, a fantastic racquet. First, the paint job/scheme was simple and I liked the subtle matte finish; nice simple classy design. I've played with the K Tour 95 before and I definitely felt this was in line with it, even though the specs are slightly different. Had it strung with Solinco Hyper-G 16 @ 55 lb.(which is higher than my accustomed tensions; I've noted I like polyester at a higher tension).

Hitting it right away it felt familiar, which was no surprise. I really liked the added weight right out in stock form, and I did note the bit of extra power, which I found fun and helpful. Even though the balance is close to 5 pts hl., I still found it very maneuverable and was able to make fast contact with the ball. Decent stability too considering its closer to 12 oz. (and its balance). Just as my K Tour, I would describe it as a great all around racquet. Though, I didn't notice too much the extra 1/4 inch. Groundstrokes were fantastic, good response from the frame, and I'm really liking the Solinco strings. Volleys felt nice 'n quick, slices were ok, not as penetrating as my mids, but has good pop. I felt I could 'whip' the racquet around to produce great spin (owing to the strings too) and I felt I could generate more RHS, making me feel a tad faster on court. Overall, this racquet suits my game nicely and I consider it a great, versatile racquet.

Really liked it in stock form, and I liked it even more weighted up to my accustomed weight range. Increased the weight to 12.76 oz and felt even better.

Is the burn 95 better than the 100?

I hit the 100 for a while and hated it! Hollow and buzzy.

burn 100 is about the worse racket I have ever hit with. super stiff, buzzy, no feel. strings are so far apart the ball just flew off the string bed with no control at all. played with about 10 minutes and returned it back to the demo bin. no idea who wilson was thinking would like this racket. just horrible feel and no control. just uncontrollable power and spin.

In closing, the Burn 95 is a worthy replacement for previous Wilson racquets ranging from the the legendary Wilson Pro Staff Six.One 90 to the popular Six.One 95 series. It also follows the Wilson lineage back to the Hammer line as used by Lindsay Davenport and Justin Henin-Hardenne.

Really? A worthy replacement for the 6.1 series? I cannot say that I agree, or many professional players for that matter

I always seem to come back to the tour 95 line of racquets. When I started learning how to play tennis I played with the n tour and I think because of the weight distribution, head size and extra length, my brain just got used to these types of racquets. I have tried other racquets and they just don't feel the same (especially on the 2hbh wing). The closest sort of plow and weight distribution I have found was the blade 98 18x20. I do like that racquet.

Can anyone compare this frame the the old Juice Pro? Pretty similar specs. I've hit with this sporadically over the last few years and am inticed by the burn 95 (and upcoming cv version). Just wondering if anyone has hit both.

I find the Juice to be like a very muted babolat. I like the weight from everywhere but at net. It's a great frame for about the first hour an a half and then things get a little sluggish.

Juice Specs:
Technical Specifications
Length 27.25 inches 69 centimeters
Head Size 96 square inches 619 square centimeters
Weight 11.9 ounces 337 grams
Balance Point 12.6 inches
32 centimeters 8pts Head Light
Construction 23mm / 24mm / 23mm Dual Taper
Composition Karophite Black / Basalt
String Pattern 16 Mains / 20 Crosses

I'm glad to see this frame get some love. It's definitely underrated, I think due to its unfortunate association with the Burn 100 and 100S.

I've seen you post about the Burn 95 a few times...ever hit the Juice Pro?

No, I've never hit any of the Juice line. I'm not really an expert on the Burn either; it's just a racquet I'm trying along with a few others right now. If I played all baseline singles it would be a no-brainer -- great stick for that.

I have played with both juice pro and burn 95

juice pro is a combination of solid, muted, powerful, and controllable.

the burn 95 is more like the previous tour racquets than the juice pro. It reminds me a lot of the blx tour, just a little stiffer. it is muted, but still manages to feel lively and the ball leaves the hoop really fast.

similar, but not quite the same

Racquet Feel:

I would almost characterize it as a higher level of proprioception, which is defined in the dictionary as “The unconscious perception of movement and spatial orientation arising from stimuli within the body itself.” In other words, Wilson racquets always took me to another level in terms of feeling as one with the ball and court.

I like this higher level of proprioception, ranging almost with the transcendental apperception of Kant, as there is clearly a transcensus from the subject to the object, or with Mach's empiriocritical introjection of the object following the reverse path. In any way, a kind of sublime and almost divine participation.
