For me, H22 is softer RF97 and hoop feels more stable than the RF97 (well,,,, H22 needs to be weighted up for a bit...), hence the switch.
I've used RF97 for at least 6 years. From the original red & black to V12 Tuxedo. Sold all my RFs...
Can you tell me your final specs and how u modded the H22? To me the RF97 is insanely stable so I wouldn't need more stability than that. Are you finding the H22 more versatile, also are you able to have a slightly lighter and thinner beam H22 and get the same power and maneuverability as the RF97? Or is your H22 the same weight as your RF97? I like the stiffness of the RF97.

Indeed, RF is insanely stable however, I've always added a bit of bumper tapes around the hoop.
At 12, 8 and 4 o'clock area for my liking. The tape do not add a lot of weight (it will eventually...) but, it definitely makes difference, (I don't like to use lead so, I add a lot of bumper tapes instead, depending on racquets).

For H22s, these do not require to be weighted up to like RF97ish... (I've removed weights from the RF and it became unstable so, I've added weights back on lol...)

Bumper tapes at 12, 3 and 9 (covering 4 cross strings.. like pws...), added leather grip and two overgrips, one with overlaps and one without...
Also added x3 5 pence coins at the butt cap which comes up to 347.52g. It is not my final spec but, it seems like it will be... trust me H22 feel much stable at the current weight. It won't get pushed around by other heavy racquet users,,, aka RF97 users.. ;-)

Power and stability is more or less the same, if not more from H22. Maneuverability, more or less the same..

So it sounds like you are able to get RF97 stability and plow at a lower static weight. That's what i'm looking for. I had the same standard mods you mentioned, 12,3 & 9 and lead in buttcap as well as leather grip and two overgrips. Took me to 12.5 and 9.5pts hl. Haven't hit with this new spec yet but this made the grip too thick so i'm going to try use just one overgrip which took me to 12.3 and 8pts HL. Wish me luck tomorrow night. Thanks so much. I ordered some tungsten tape and tungsten putty in the event i do need to be up at 12.5 without the grip being too thick.

Wow and wow. So my final specs are 364 grams and 7.5pts HL. I added 12g of tungsten tape to the head from 9 to 3, added 14g of tungsten putty to the buttcap, + leather grip. This stick is amazing. Way more easy to serve then my RF97 and i can just destroy the ball by letting the racquet do ALL the work. Nice and smooth and just a tiny bit more racquet head speed to destroy the ball for a winner. Touch and feel have really come alive with all the weight I added. No longer feels muted and it's like an extension of my arm. Drop shots, lobs, sharp angles, flat, slice, topspin, plow, this thing has it all. The mass and redirection are bonkers. If the feet get you there, tennis is easy with this thing. This stick handles the rest of you are on time. The thinner beam makes it more maneuverable than my RF97 as well. If you miss the sweetspot it can be a bit harsh and the sweetspot is larger on the RF97 but I'm making the switch. The ball just explodes off the string bed. Thanks for your help. Feels like a beefier Head Radical Pro mixed with a Pro Staff 90!!!

To make my Blade Pros playable IMO i need to mod them up similar to my RF97. Can any long time H22 user who previously played with the RF97 give me an idea why they switched? Why they prefer the H22 over the RF97. What the H22 does better. My RF97 in stock form does everything insanely well with amazing feel. The weight gets to me in long matches tho. Also, the H22 feels really muted to me.

Blade Pro is way more comfortable than RF97. I got 17g poly at 45lbs on my 18x20 and it's really plush yet still controlled.

I find the RF97 to be way way way more comfortable. Outside the sweetspot I find the Blade Pro to be harsh. I'm also not a fan of the flex in the throat. It's all subjective I guess.

Stiffer AND more comfy? Was your BP strung in the 40s?
I've found my much stiffer RF97 to be more comfortable than even my PT630's and all other lower RA frames i've tried. The mass of the RF97 just absorbs everything. A lot of softer frames have a flex in the head or throat which I've never been a fan of. That delay actually bothers my arm. The RF97 stringed has the immediate response i prefer, it has a massive sweetspot and the plow of a tank. With my 19g strings strung at 40, my touch and feel are amazing. Mishits are harsher with the BP because of the smaller sweetspot
and the flex in the throat is not my cup of tea. So with more time spent with the BP, I suppose i've changed my review. If i hit a flatter ball in the sweetspot with my H19, BP and RF97, you are correct, the H19 or BP would feel the most pillowy in that moment, but that's not what comfort is to me when playing tennis. I'm hitting with extremely high rpm's with a full bed of poly, i've got no time for pillowy soft. I want my joints protected while i'm cranking the ball, and the RF97 does that in spades for me. I get no vibration, no flex, and amazing feel. I can do whatever I want with the ball. Delicate drop shots, lobs, acute angle rolls, u name it the RF97 is like a magic wand. Also keep in mind that i've strung every racquet i've ever played with in the 40-45lb range with thin gauge strings. This should give you an idea of my rpm level, my balls never launch or sail at such a low tension.
Now the RF97 does tire me out after a few hours, hence my never ending search. It's addictive. Also pros with more touch, and feel have historically been Pro Staff line users and not the muted Blade line or even H22's.

? Wait...you play RF97 with 19g at 40lbs? Did I read that right? I mean that would explain why you think it's comfy.

But no way could I ever control it on full swing and would pop that every few hours. I string it 16g natural gut/poly in the 50s and it has been a bit of a chellenge to keep it in a nice tension range where it's not too lose, not too stiff.

On my BP I have like 2 grams on 3+9 and 1g on the throat, stable as a rock....a soft rock :)

I have my BP 18x20 strung with a full bed of Luxilon ALU Power 16L at 48lbs and its not plush at all. I would like to find that plush feeling - will lowering the tension be enough or is a change of string necessary?

Yah 19g, 40lbs in RF97 and all my frames.

I modded my BP similarly, and so many other different ways but never could love it more than my RF97 or H19.

Well if you string denser string pattern at same tension then it's going to be more stiff in comparison. I always string lower tensions and use thinner strings for more dense stringbeds.

My BP was a 16X19 and way more open than my H19 16X19. I think it was pretty similar to my RF97 as well.

I stated previously in the BP 16x19 thread about the bumper grommet not fitting the H22 Burn I have, well if you are in serious need of grommets for your H22 it will fit with modification. A simple cut of a BP grommet in half will then fit with a little effort and an awl. You will then have about a a 3/8” space in the middle with no bumper though. If the BP grommet was a 1/2” longer it would be identical to my H22 grommet.

Just bought an H22 (18x20) from one of those famous auction sites, and it is in the mail.
Can't wait to try it and compare it to the Wilson Ultra Tour and the PT57A that I have :)
Will report my findings :)

Played (just hitting balls at 50-100% pace) a few hours with the H22 (18x20) and it was a more lively, more powerful, more spinny, and less stable version of the PT57A.
I felt the H22 had more forgiveness due to the a little bigger headsize, but I had to put more spin on the ball where as the PT57A had more penetrating flat shots (a statement from the player on the other side of the court receiving my flat shots).
This is a nice racquet that I feel when I get tired swinging with the PT57A, I will have no problem switching to it.

Finally found the best tensions and setups for the RF97 for my game after years of experimenting. 57/54-58/55 with Natural Gut/poly depending on weather conditions. The key was pre-stretching the gut mains and using a slick poly cross with good tension maintenance. Plays controllable and easy on the arm. Strings stay in my frames for months.
VS Touch 1.30/ 4g 1.25
Klip Legend 1.30/ BHBZ 1.25
Klip Legend 1.30/ Head Hawk Touch 1.25

On the H22 end the only ones I have been able to find were bare, expensive and would be like taking on a science project. RF97 with a little tweaking is pretty close to the end result I would come up with working on a prostock frame.

Can someone tell me why there are so many people that love and want the H22 racket from Wilson?

It’s a pro stock, hence not for sale to the public by the mfg (before the BP release anyway). Some people want what they can’t have...

Oh ok, I was comparing the H22 (18x20) that I have to the Pure Drive (16x19) which I have hit with in the past. H22 (16x19) I haven't tried yet, but it could be as powerful as you say it is :)

Just got a pair of brand new H22's 18x20, and was really curious (hoping) whether the Blade Pro 18x20 grommets would fit. Happy to say that they fit perfectly! (I only tried the bumper part for now, but I'm pretty sure the rest will fit too, since it indicates same drill pattern). I even weighed the bumpers, and the H22 original bumper weight 10.1g, and the Blade Pro replacement weighed 9.9g. The only difference to differentiate the two is the H22 grommet has Wilson engraved on the ends, and a small W at the center of the bumper, indicating the center 2 mains positions. Whereas the Blade Pro replacement grommet is completely bare.
This part is interesting, because on the Blade Pro product page, in the picture where it says Design DNA, you can clearly see an engraved Wilson on the end of the bumper. Can anyone with a Blade Pro chime in whether the stock bumper has Wilson engraving/markings or not?

Dear Club Members,
I've heard from several people now that I can't use Blade Pro 16x19 grommets on my H22 16x19 because the lower crosses have a different drill pattern. What about the top part though? Would I be able to use the Blade Pro bumper and upper grommets on my H22?

Saw this H22 being sold on the bay. They list it as an 18x20. It is different from the normal H22 18x20 drill pattern. Does anyone have an info on this type of racket? Could it be a variation or is the racket actually strung incorrectly?

I recently got two 16X19 H22 Pro Stocks and they feel and play completely different than the Blade Pros i used to own. The layup is completely different, the mold is slightly different, and the feel is completely different. Of course my H22's are silicone filled and not foam filled like the Blade Pro. Insanely soft, stable, and really powerful even at only 334 grams. I removed the synthetic grip, added two Wilson Overgrips and added a little lead at 12, 3 & 9.

Sweet! What are your specs now? I've got my H22 16x19 at 335g strung, 32cm balance and 336 SW and they play great. They do have a high SW though even at low specs.

It's not a BP, as BP has the same spec written on the throat like a normal Blade V7. Whereas, the one in the pic, just look like my Blade V7 PJ H22 18x20
It's a prostock as you can see Wilson mark on the throat and Wilson lettering on the bumper guard.
