Wilson ProStaff Classic 6.1 - Similar Feel Today?

I'm trying to find a 4th racquet to demo so I figured I'd throw in one that 'took me back to years past.'

In looking at my 'Wall of Frames' and thinking about which racquets had a rock solid feel with decent maneuverability (and a bit larger head size than my POG Mid), I noticed the Wilson ProStaff Classic 6.1 hanging there on the wall.

I checked the specs at T-W and it is: 357g (although mine weighed in at 361g), 11 points headlight, swingweight of 326, stiffness of 72 (although I don't remember it playing that stiff).

What racquets today (probably 95 to 98 sq inches) give that same solid feel, excellent spin, and pretty good maneuverability for a 'heavyweight' racquet?

I know the obvious choice would be the 16x18 BLX Six-One 95 but it is not near as headlight and swingweight is 12 points higher.

Maybe...Tecnifibre TFight 320, Pure Storm Tour GT, Pure Storm Limited, Pure Storm Limited GT, Head YT Prestige Pro, others?

Thanks for all input.

that stiffness is really high, as high as a pure drive really. The most comparable would be a BLX six one 95 or a Pure Drive Roddick with lead in the handle

been playing PSC since 92 and hate most new frames, but volkl PB10 is a super frame, reminds me a lot of PSC, just more arm friendly. according to specs its very flexy, but doesnt play like it.

My former coach, a top player here, easily went from the 6.1 Classic to the Hyper 6.1 95 (but then he can play with anything....). Yeah, the Hyper has been discontinued, but they've still available on that big auction site. Good luck.

The Prince Ignite is a current frame with a layout not unlike the good ol' 6.1 Classic. I tried a demo about a week ago and even though the strings were really clunky and dead, the racquet wasn't half bad. Maybe a bit easier to swing and turn the ball over with on ground strokes, plus it was stiff enough to pop the ball rather well for volleys and serves.

I also enjoy a couple of Volkl C10's which aren't any sort of clone of the ProStaff, but they're wonderful all court performers with that somewhat hefty, head-light setup. More flex, less harsh, better control for me on ground strokes, and just a bit less pop than my 6.1's

TripleB I dont think your memory is deficient, I have a PSC and no way is it a 72 compared to my much stiffer PS 5.0 at 70; other people have said the same, they just dont play that stiff so maybe it was a typo that people started quoting?

cant help you with a substitute, but my recommendation is to go with guys like "big bang" above, who have actually owned them, rather than someone just comparing theoretical specs.

I used to play with 5 of the Pro Staff Tour 95 'Edberg' from 1994-2000 and NOTHING quite feels like it....

The new BLX 95 6.1 18X20 is a nice frame, but more muted in feel and does not have the same feel.

Like Sampras I found Babolat Pure Storm Tour GT, which some hate, others like - it doesn't play like the Pro Staff, but it has a very nice blend of control and power.
A frame that has more feel to it but a little bit less forgiveness and power is the Völkl PB10 Mid.

I think you should test these 3 frames and then decide, what you prefer.

Between the BLX 95, 6.1 18x20, the Pure Storm Tour GT and the Völkl PB10 Mid - you could find a frame that suits your game.
But you won't find a direct replacement for your old PST......
