Wilson Quality Question

I am interested in the Wilson K90. I have hit with them and I have to admit that the K90 is a very nice racket. I never decided to buy one because of Wilson's QC. Is Wilson QC that terrible as everyone says it is? For example, if I buy 2 or more K90s will they all be off that I would notice the difference?

I have been playing with Yonex rackets most of my tennis life. I know Yonex's QC are top notch in the racket industry and I never had a complaint about them.

Any Wilson QC comments would help. Thanks.

Wilson has the worst quality control in the industry. If you want quality, stick with Yonex. Have you checked out the new RDiS line?

I think Wilson uses the same 5-7% variance in their racquets as most companies have.
If it's absolutely vital (most people won't even notice the difference unless they research their racquets) that your sticks are precisely the same, there's always the option of doing a little bit of customization.

i think its really hit or miss on this.

My n95 rackets were abo****ely terrible quality control. one was 12 pts headligh while the other was around 8. one was 11.8 oz and the other was 12.4.

i had to do a ton of customization to get the rackets to the same spec.

However i just bougth some KBlade tours and the two rackets are literally EXACTLY alike. they'er both 11.4 oz flat like they're supposed to be and they're both exactly 10 pts. headlight (all unstrung) which is exactly what they're supposed to be. needless to say, i still added lead tape, etc. but its great to know the rackets started at the same point.

good luck!

I have never noticed a difference, but then again I really didnt know that a problem existed. So if I were to buy new rackets I would definitely asked for them to be matched. Which means the company selling them will weigh and check the balance of a bunch of rackets until they find two the same.

If it is too late then you need customize your sticks with lead and leather grip, etc...

It can be a problem sometimes...

I had five PS85 and they were all about the same. I couldn't tell a difference when I played with them.

But I also have three K95 now and they're all different. One feels a lot lighter than the other two and the difference is about 8-10gr. The other two are quite close but the balance feels different. That's not okay. I wanted three identical rackets.

I don't know. I already thought about swichting to another company because of that. Then again, I really like Wilson's rackets.

The last Yonex racquets I purchased were two brand-new MP Tour-1 90's from TW, and one was so much heavier than the other that I had to get rid of them. I could have spec'd the lighter one to match the heavier one, but I didn't want them to be that heavy. The balances were off as well. Never went back to Yonex after that.

I currently play with Wilson nTours; I own 2 nTours and 1 nTour Two, and they are all extremely close in weight and balance. The feel is pretty much identical on all three. No complaints about QC on these.

wilson's quality control, or lack there-of, has been grossly over exaggerated on these boards. They are no different than any other manufacturer.

My first two k90's were absolutely identical in specs (weight/swing weight/flex/balance). They were purchased one month apart and from two different locations. yes, I got lucky that both frames I purchased were identical, however, the same goes for other manufacturers. It's pure luck.

i have to agree.. it's not great, but probably not worse than some other big companies.. just a LOT of people use Wilson so they probably get talked about more..
anyways, if you are concerned with 2 racquets being the same, you might want to call TW when/if you order them and they could probably get two pretty closely matched for you.. just a thought.. i mean, if you need 2.

I bought two K90's each from a different retailer. They were different in overall weight and balance. If you picked one up and played twenty minutes with it then switched then you could tell. One was lighter and the other heavier.

Thanks for all your input.

As for my experience I never had a problem with Yonex models. I am sorry to hear that the MP-1 Tours were off. I own a few sets of rackets all purchased at different times from different retailers and I never noticed a difference in specs.

As for Wilson rackets, I guess to be on the safe side I have to purchase 2 rackets at the same time and need to match them before purchase. The down side to that is buying 2 rackets at the same time is somewhat costly.

I agree, all the companies have similar control. I always use lead so when the rackets are "finished" they weigh the same. 12.5 oz. strung.
