Interesting that the pro looks almost like a box beam mould compared to the others. Might be worth a go.

Pro is the same as the previous Ultra tour. Just a paint change to match the new look. Reportedly only available at Wilson.com, though

I thought a portion of the series is only available on wilson.com for now. not actually available else where yet, or is that the only place it is going to be available.

Local rep said they won’t be available for order through a dealer...Wilson website only. Doesn’t mean they won’t change that in time.

same mold as H19, used by players like monfils. Layup is different, and that is very important.
Technically, if one tour player uses it, they’re not wrong. Not saying they’re wholly in the right with how they phrase it, but racquets for the pros are exactly that...for the pros. They change things less than us because it can mean a difference of hundreds of thousands of dollars, so they get paintjobs. I don’t have any problem with that. We get better tech, they get peace of mind about their equipment.

I guess. But I do disagree about the better tech. Pro stock rackets like the h19 and the h22 are a completely different breed of racket. There is a reason most pros dont use "new tech" most of it's a load of vs and marketing.

I should clarify that I think most “tech” is just variance of layup, weight, etc...but companies have gotten better at figuring out what works. And, things like countervail and the clash-style flex are big difference makers for the recreational player when it comes to arm health and fuller enjoyment of the game—healthy and pain free arms mean more court time! Racquets available now are generally so much more playable than racquets from 10-15 years ago—more free power, greater stability at lighter weights—and the more casual player is probably going to have a better time on the court with today’s sticks. I seem to be in the same camp as you—I favor H19, H22, and PT57A style sticks and play with pro stock blades, but we’re certainly in the minority.

So what if a pro plays with a different layup in their H19 than me in my retail Ultra Tour? Is it better or worse? Probably neither. Would I love it if Wilson made pro stocks available at retail with the option to choose layup, flex, and other specs? Absolutely. But, the large majority of players don’t need that, and I’d imagine the process would be neither simple nor cost-effective for Wilson, as excited as it would make me and other racquet nerds on this board.

To bad Wilson couldn't get any updated paint onto anyone at the AO.. Will we see any at Indian Wells, Miami????

I am surprised they didn't get La Monf a few new PJs seeing as his face is on the product card... Maybe he prefers the v2.0 like I do 8-B Probably takes his customizer a while to prep the new sticks but thought Wilson would've sent a new batch in time for that.

Interesting, what did you think was changed? Might just be classic Wilson QC but interesting nonetheless.
Hard to explain. It just felt much cleaner. To be fair I have been using the Ultra Tour leaded up with hyper G not 4g, but I thought the flame flexed a little differently.

Hmmm, personally I would describe 4g as a more crisp/clean feeling string compared to the more muted/plastic response from hyper g, so that might be all you’re feeling. However it’s very possible the layup was changed. Too bad the UP is only being sold through Wilson now, would’ve been nice to see TW’s stats for this one.

Yeah, I used to use 4g, so I didn't really think it was that. It also might have been that I play five hours a day and have had them for a while so they might be breaking down. It felt a bit more like a clash on contact. Not much, but I could just feel the throat flex and really hold the ball and then launch. Hard to explain.

Hmm... it seems like they added free flex on the ultra tour/pro then. What was your impression regarding power? Any change?

If they did indeed add freeflex it will be interesting how it differs from the v7 Blade. Seems like they they would be extremely close to one another. I guess it could also be possible the new UP has a higher quality layup more akin to a pro stock H19.

I have a pro discount on Wilson's website. I'm considering buying it to try and resell it if I don't like it. Just wanted to make sure it was actually a different racquet from the Ultra Tour, otherwise the resell value will not be good.

Sounds unlikely that anything other than the paint job have changed to me on the tour, oh and the name of its now pro, if you are stringing like for like then they should feel the same though?

I’m now fairly certain the Tour and Pro are identical models. I reached out to Wilson both through IG and Email and on both platforms I was told by a representative that they didn’t “understand” my question..

I literally asked the IG rep if the two models shared the same specs and layup and instead had the paintjob described to me  I rephrased it so it was easier to understand and got left on seen.

I had slightly better luck through email, and was told by a rep that they didn’t understand what layup meant. The person did forward my question to a member from the “brand expert team” so I will update if I end up receiving a response.

I believe if there was an actual difference between these frames then it would certainly be common knowledge. The description of the new Pro in Wilson’s site doesn’t tout any new technologies or changes, whereas the description for the V3 Ultra 100 does.

-soo, it looks like they made the racquet more head light?! v2 is 6pts HL and the v3 is 8pts HL
-v3 might be lighter, v2 is 11.4oz/323gm (strung weight !???), v3 is 10.7oz (unstrung!, making strung weight +.4 or +.5)
-the wilson site mentioned it has a thinner beam,, less than 21mm, ?????
-layup looks similar, no ridges at 3, 9, like all the other v3 ULTRAS??!!

Probably all the weight differences listed are QC related. Although I guess it is possible they made it lighter to market it even harder as a platform frame. The thinner beam and smaller headsize comment just refer to the racquet’s place in the line compared to the other Ultras. Hopefully someone gets an extended hit with it soon and is able to compare although I’m pretty confident they are the same racquet.

Tell me, do people really play with the ultra? I know some beginners, but unless it’s modded, is it really a good frame?

A youtube playtest video showed a strung SW of 304. Granted it was in another language but the rdc showed 304 after the strung racquet was tested. If that's accurate thats pretty scary

Those are the bumper guard / grommets for the Ultra Tour 97. They might fit but Wilson only sells the Ultra Pro V3 online and they don't even list the grommets
I thought v3 was the same as v3. I ordered 2 for a friend a string for not too long ago, but it was for his V2.
