X-One Biphase 16G + ALU Power 16L on PS97?

Hi! New to the forum but was hoping to get some advice on strings.

I've been playing with the X-One Biphase 16G full bed up until this point on my Pro Staff 97 but have been finding my shots a bit flat and long so was looking to switch to a hybrid setup since I'm not a huge fan of a full poly setup. I really enjoy playing with the Biphase so was looking to set up something with it but wasn't sure what a good poly would be to pair with it. I play around once a week(sometimes more) at a 4.0/4.5 level.

I know the durability of the Biphase isn't that great, since it usually starts fraying for me pretty fast and I've went through 3-4 sets within the past 2 years even though I don't think I play that frequently. My most recent one broke yesterday on the crosses, so I was thinking of something like:

Biphase (Mains) @ 58 lbs
ALU Power (Crosses) @ 55 lbs

Any thoughts or advice is appreciated :D

I would stay with the X-One full bed maybe raise the tension a little bit. When you use a hybrid setup and you do not change the strings out frequently either your crosses or mains will go down in tension faster in this case the ALU Power. Using the String Compare Tool (http://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/comparestrings.php) the tension loss on ALU Power 16L is 47% while the X-One 16 is only 18%. On the other hand if you are a player that changes the string out on a daily basis like some of the pros it won't matter. I would not mess up the feel of X-One with any poly string.

Spend and extra $9 dollars or so and get a Natural Gut like Klip Legend and a slick poly cross with good tension maintenance .The money you save on the poly will pay for the gut so you are looking at a lowe cost playing Gut/poly as opposed to playing Xone/Alu. You will get better playability, more durability and a string bed that has controlled play longer with more spin.
Klip Legend 1.30/Tourna Black Zone 1.25
Klip Legend 1.30/ Wilson Revolve 1.25

56/53-57/54

I have a reel of kirschbaum proline ll in 17L (1.20) . I’ve heard it’s similar to 17 (1.25) in terms of durability but a little softer . Could I use the 17L in cross with Klip legend 16 in mains ?

Yes, that should work.

If you want a lasting string job only use a poly cross with outstanding tension maintenance (though tbh even the best polys for tension maintenance still lose their freshness very quick even if the tension is maintained).

Otherwise your multi/syn/nat gut mains will be wasted when the loosening poly turns the racquet into a rocket launcher.

Can I recommend you try a full bed of natural gut first before trying a hybrid of poly. I have been using full bed VS Touch for a couple months now after trialing countless hybrid and full bed setups in the past two years... I wish I tried full bed gut earlier but was always put off by people saying it would be super powerful. I string it 60/58lb in a 97" frame.

Some suggestions are Klip Legend which is a bit softer and livelier, whereas Babolat VS Touch is crisper and a bit lower powered. Klip is awesome for mains in a hybrid whereas I prefer VS Touch for a full bed. Don't be intimidated by full bed natural gut, string it at 60lbs or there abouts and it will be softer than X-One at that tension whilst providing you more access to spin.
