Hoping for a new SV98+ if that's better

Thanks for sharing. It's always fun to watch those guys review, and they seem to be one of the first to have a substance review of new frames. I don't understand a thing except for "Hi, Yonex, Wilson, Babolat, Head, Prince and Bye" but their body language is spectacular. Their mechanics are sound like a Samurai going through forms.

Sorry but I am just cracking up on the Youtube Japanese auto translate! It's ridiculously hilarious! LOL I'm pretty my short play couldn't come up with such lines! Great come on lines and a bit of kink too! LOL
My Japanese is VERY rusty but the gist of more comfort, good flat shots and the same easy spin from the SV series I tend to agree with.
I hit more with it this morning, giving one more shot in earnest. It is definitely softer and plusher than the SV98+, almost like the Ezone 98+.
My hitting buddy, a 51 yr old 5.5 serve volleyer, tried it out. He liked the comfort and forgiveness but felt it was a bit anemic off the ground. His strokes are a bit old school and he relies on incoming pace and plow on his racquet to drive back. He liked it on serve, with improved spin and depth compared to his heavier personal racquet.

Looks to me like the guy hitting with the 95 version is putting in a lot of effort to hit the ball, but isn't getting very easy power. Usually, he blasts a few that the others don't get to. There is usually a second video, we'll see how they are playing in that one.

So, apparently the SV 98 is more powerful than the new one?
I just went back and watched their SV video, and the SV 95 looked like it had tons more power as well! The dude was pounding the ball with the SV, hitting winners, and seemed to have to swing out on every shot just to get depth with the new one. I think I'll stick with the SV's

Yeah, I perceived the same thing in the video, the new Vcores look anemic, kind of disappointed, but otoh, it's nice for my pocket [emoji4]

I noticed same thing... It's something I looked out for too. I was worried the VCore Pro would be a bit underpowered for me, but I was very impressed with how these guys were striking the ball with it. They are much better players than me, but I felt there would be enough power in that stick for me. I did demo it, and I did like it quite a bit, but I ended up holding out. Figured at this point I'd wait and see on the SV update and here we are.

On the plus side, you can get the SV's cheaper now! Demo them both at the same time when they come out next month side by side and see which one you like better!

These guys are solid for sure. They love what they do. Wish I had their jobs

Low powered true players frame? Some here that tested it loved the 95. I would try the 100 and 95

True, but it might mean that it needs Tungsten tape in the head and handle to give it more oomph. We'll see what the specs look like. The static weight already lends itself to customization, let's just hope the rest of the specs also support that course of action. The stick is a beauty from the looks perspective, at least in my view, so it would be nice to add to the collection at some point. As long as the feel is something I will like, the rest can be worked on. ;):D

It's all relative to the type of stroke and what specs you are accustomed to.
The SW is 322 with the 1.30 tough brid, so I was off by a bit. Compared to my 355 SV98+ strung with 18L/18 poly, no wonder it felt anemic off the ground for most. I'm sure if I hit on Playsight, it'd show a less than significant, but noticeable speed drop. Off the serve, it was definitely as bitey as the SV98+, but the difference in SW and length curtails the power in my mind.
For those who want a slugger frame like the old SV98, wait for the + model. The new flex might make it a very comfy slugger racquet.

A couple of you PMed me about my short play test. The V98 isn't low powered, it's merely lower powered than my SV98+, which is modded to 350+ SW. If you have a SV98, from what I remember playing with the SV98, VP97 and E98+, it has decent power, just not the level I'm accustomed to.
The feel is very forgiving and comfortable, volleys and overheads were precise and actually felt better than the older racquet.
I'm somewhat slow to adjust to new racquets that aren't near my specs, and my results suffered because of that. The specs again:

SW: 322
Weight: 327g (L2 with Babolat Tack and thin) and 1.30mm Tough Brid strung.
Balance: 32.5cm

Personally I think for those who liked the Ezone or DR series, but want more power/spin, check out the new Vcore series. Still has the same bite and easy to swing, but more plush and forgiving. The Ezone moved up in crispness, and the Vcore moved down in stiffness but still feels crisper than the Ezone, while having more power than the Vcore Pro.

I finally managed to acquire a couple more Vcore SV 98+ racquets for a total of 4 so I'm set for at least the next 5 years. I'll probably purchase a couple Vcore 98+ frames as soon as they're released as a pre-emptive measure if weight/swingweight specs are close to the current SV version.

Haha well the specs will match, but the string pattern and flex are different enough to warrant serious testing, to see if I can switch from the SV98+ to the V98+ without adjustment from one game to the next. I couldn't really access the true nature of the new string pattern with those strings!
The best test for me is hitting with big hitters who force me to cut short my normal stroke, and still have to follow through completely to get depth. I won't have time to make sure I hit the sweet spot and that's the test of how predictable the racquet is to off center hits.

I think he's referencing some poster who said that the lafino guys wouldn't compete in his 4.0 league or something similar.
Yeah, after posting that he probably started calling the US Embassy in Tokyo to see if he could get them over here...

Nice facility; great hitting. I didn’t think they were overswinging - they were hitting on the rise, using the pace. Would have like to see them hit some serves.

The flex is pretty important to me. As I mentioned previously, it's the primary reason I switched from the DR 98+ to the SV 98+. The string pattern is not as critical for me as I've played 16/19 and 16/20 patterns without missing a beat. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Watching Caroline Garcia using the new VCORE 100 and it’s got the new grooves on the throat, so it’s not a paint job! She has switched to the new frame, so it may well be a decent upgrade :)

Got the 95 in my hands today. Very Nice. Thinner beam i think and better paint quality than the sv95. Looks really promising if you ask me. No idea what the ra and SW are..hopefully around 63 and 325
Nice. Please hit serves and report.

What string setup are you going with?

The biggest difference between the DR and SV range besides the flex is the 8 vs 6 main strings. String pattern can change the tone of a racquet significantly.
I was handed a 95 to demo. Will report back.

Hola, tengo un pri tour exo3 tour 100 and i want a yonex or head racquet that gives me same amount of effects and litlle bit of more control in volleys please give me opcionales

Played the V95 for 2 hrs. This one was better strung with PT Strike 1.25. To me, this is a control frame that's easy to swing off the ground. The SV95 felt a tad stiff for a slugger frame, so this V95 feels comparatively comfy and plush. I could swing out with this frame, since it's low powered and whippy. It doesn't have the same bite as the V98 obviously, and the feel is kind dead mush, but better than the SV line, which anything would be an improvement. It has decent power and spin, but the sweetspot is smaller than I thought it would be and stability was only decent.
On volleys, it's tight and imparts good bite for spin. without being too powerful. Stability is still an issue, like the old SV95, especially pickup half volleys. I remember a similar size Wilson 6.1 95 16x18 to have better stability and feel. Overheads were easy with a light swinging frame. Not powerful at all, but easy to snap down and impart spin with control.
Serves were surprisingly good, but I felt noticeably less bite compared to the V98, so the same serve would bounce deeper and bite less in whatever direction.
Basically, a fuller fast swing will be better suited for this racquet I still prefer the V98 for the stability in on the rise shots.

Yeah, I thought anything about kids that's not about tennis, would be going too far for a tennis forum!

Hit some more with the V95 and with someone who uses the SV95. He agreed with me that the V95 is just a slightly more flexible/plush version. I didn't notice his game suffered any deficit from the new racquet. He wasn't sure what to think of the new feel, but he was used to the crisp feeling, and felt his net game wasn't as sharp! I didn't think so and I too missed the feel of the Wilson, but execution trumps all. Other than the softest of drop and angled volleys, where the power and bite of the string does affect execution, it was ok.
He really liked the PT Strike on it too, which gave brought back a bit of crispness to the plusher V95. We both did feel modifications were needed to weigh up the hoop and keep the balance, may be as little as 10-12g of weight overall.
