Who can stop Novak this year? Nick Kyrgios.

Yes. You heard it here. This kid has grown in leaps and bounds and looks primed to take on the Big Guns. He has already felled Nadal and Federer in the past. He is becoming better and better with each passing day. Just saw his effortless beatdown of Berdych in Marseille. IMPRESSIVE. Unbridled offense which is very difficult to hang with. A matchup between Novak and Nick is going to be fascinating. Something tells me that Kyrgios has the belief and the game to stop Novak.

I think so, he was simply unplayable yesterday. If he keeps up this form then he can surely trouble Novak. Will be interesting to see both of them meet at the final in Dubai open..

He will definitely challenge Djokovic in the future. I think he will make big leaps this year. The dude has game and that forehand...wow. I expect fireworks when they finally meet.

He has already beaten Nadal and Federer and, since the start of this year, has beaten 3 top 10 players, all in straights: Murray (at Hopman Cup), Gasquet and Berdych (in Marseille). He has already taken on the big guns and just needs to stay focussed and out of trouble to take them on again. He has clearly got the game and the tools. It's just his head that needs to stay in line!

I think that Kyrgios needs to play few times with Novak before he can really challenge him. Djokovic has a very big aura for someone passionate as Nick to overcome it.

Only he, Raonic and Federer have the attitude to take it to Djokovic. And of the three, he's the only healthy one. At least until he gets another case of nasty tennis elbow from his snappy forehand.

Raonic? When did he last take it to Djokovic? The only players to take it to Djokovic in the last 12 months have been Federer, Murray, Gulbis, Dolgopolov and Anderson except that the last 3 choked on the brink of beating him. Kyrgios has yet to meet Djokovic so we look forward to him joining that select little group!

Did you see Raonic at the AO? If he plays at that level he has a very good chance on grass and fast HC

Yes, I saw him at the AO. I recall he lost to a guy who has actually beaten Djokovic within the last 12 months. ;)
I see what you mean. But I like Milos's chances. Murray played well the last two sets of that match while Murray played horribly against Novak. Plus it was on a relatively slow surface. On grass I really like his chances, mate. If Raonic played at that level in Wimbledon he would have reached the final for sure.

He reminds me of Federer when he was around the same age. His game can click and he's unbeatable; but he's also susceptible to brain-farts.

Unless maybe he bumped into an in-form Murray like he did at the USO! ;) Don't forget it took a goating Federer playing at an unbelievably high level to take Murray out!

Look, I'm completely for Murray winning another Wimbledon/USO. But with Raonic's surge and Murray's stagnancy, I like Raonics chances slightly more. Murray really has to fix that forehand but his second serve has seen improvements. He has to decide whether changing coaches is the answer

Not any time soon, Emporer Djokovic got the experience that Kyrgios lacks.

But at the same time emperor Emporer Djokovic should not become too comfortable!

I feel he has the firepower to scorch Djokovic, esp on Faster courts. He has also started to become more consistent with his groundies. Only a matter of time before he hits Top 5.

He does have the game, but imo slam courts aren't fast enough for it to happen until Kyrgios improves his fitness/movement/consistency.

I know you probably think I'm just a Murray fanboy but I really and truly believe he still has more chances at Wimbledon than Raonic does. Murray has only 'stagnated' somewhat against Djokovic and Federer. Against the rest of the field, including Raonic, he is still clutch. Moreover, Raonic is the one with chronic fitness problems who hasn't been able to play since the AO so what makes you so sure he will be fit enough again to take Wimbledon by storm? For all these reasons, I still firmly believe that Murray has a better chance of making the Wimbledon (or any other Slam) final than Raonic does.

You're getting a little ahead of yourself. He's not even top 30 yet and you're already talking about top 5? Scorch Djokovic? Most of us agree that he can challenge any player once he fully hits his stride but you are quite naive if you think he is just gonna walk out there and blow Djokovic away. Djokovic is a better player, bottom line.

So judging by the practice set played 2014 now you twisting your pants in some prospect of him challenging Novak:oops: before they even played the official match.
You federerfans are hilarious:D

I'm not doubting that at this point. Djokovic is still a better player. I am saying Kyrgios is taking all the right steps and is on course. He destroyed Gasquet, Berdych and Cilic quite effortlessly this week. This could be his breakout year.

I believe that Kyrgios has the game to beat Djokovic.

I do not believe Kyrgios has the mental fortitude to do it.

If Kyrgios can get over-himself, stop acting like a spoiled brat, focus on tennis, and not let things he cannot control bother him, then I do believe he is at the very top of the list of "next in line" to challenge for the top of the game.

Well Cilic, Gasquet. Berdych kinda suck these days...all those guys are worlds apart from Djokovic...I'll need to see him against Djoker/Murray/Fed/Stan on big stages consistently bring his game to believe. Win or loss is irrelevant. But he did play some inspiring tennis this week so hopefully it's a sign he can finally step over that gasquet/berdych/cilic/ferrer group who are only holding on to their ranking spots because of the weakness of the young generation.

I've already called Kyrgios the future of the new generation. I know how good he is but he has a ways to go to be challenging the King for his throne. But yes, he has the potential to be a Slam winner and maybe even #1 one day. He needs to check that attitude though if he expects to go to the next level.

I also don't know if the courts are fast enough either. On these medium paced at best courts Kyrgios won't be able to just serve him off the court. On a faster court he could serve 70%, blitz Djoker, steal a tiebreak or two and get it done. We see what happens to Djoker whenever he steps onto court 1 at Wimbledon but unfortunately Ashe and Center are quite a bit slower.

Not once did I claim Raonic took it to Djokovic. I said he had the right attitude to take it to Djokovic. Something almost all players on tour are lacking.

Nick is trying to develop a game for which one can't do much even if one clearly knows what's coming.

Kinda similar type of games as Sampras'. Pancho Gonzales was essentially same (I've heard).

But it is very hard to maintain consistency of it for long period.

And probably in the wrong era to play that type of game.

He's a poor man Sampras right now. His movement needs a bit more work and he needs to improve his consistency as well. His serve is huge, but accuracy can still improve. Overall, I just feel like I'm seeing poor man Sampras in his prime basically.

Unlike the rest of you I think Nick absolutely has the game to take it to Novak. The problem is that in most weeks he might not have the game to GET there. The higher his ranking, the later he will play Novak, most likely, due to the way the seeding goes. But there are lots of guys who can take him out if he loses focus.

I think Nick can beat anyone in the world when he is hot. So far he is a streaky player. Streaky players historically do not get to high rankings and stay there.

There's Wawrinka but he's an exception.

right now he's a poor man's Roddick lol...don't even compare him to Sampras. His ceiling is a 03-04 Roddick.
