I didn't watch Sturridge this season (plus he bugs me a lot lol) so I left him out. He is fantastic too when in form.

None of the recent players did well on the biggest stages, England haven't done anything in a while. If a player like Rooney is not a legend, none of his teammates are legends either. Not sure anymore if the team is simply crap or underperforming all the time. That is a pity, English football team was always one of my favorite foreigners.

Exactly! None of these players can regarded as England legends. Legends for their clubs sure, but to find legends for England you have to go back to 1966 and I wasn't even born then!:p

Hopefully that changes in the near future but I won't hold me breath!

LOL I still remember that crying against Palace. :D

Sadly, I do too. :p

So, Leicesters game is not on the telly and we have Swansea against Aston ******* Villa as the 5.30 game? Wtf sky o_O

You're spot on! I actually don't mind Arsenal too, I mean as you said they always play (or try to) good, attacking football plus I have enormous respect for Wenger! I don't mind them doing well in Europe as long as they don't win the Cup, same with the league it's actually funny seeing them challenge every year until the March period when they start bottling it:p

I'm the same with England too, I've always disliked that owl Hodgson he's so bad it hurts, the only Liverpool manager in me lifetime I wanted out as soon as possible. International breaks are the most boring periods of the season, I didn't really watch England the last couple years (after the disastrous World Cup), I just don't want our players injured.

Maybe he'll finally get sacked if we fail yet again in the European Championships, and they'll bring in someone qualified for the position who'll support the young players without playing his out of form favourites (cough Rooney cough).

It's nice to see another Liverpool fan here :)

I really don't. Not anymore at least. Last season was heartbreaking because he was doing great at Barca and we were going nowhere but this season I don't even care tbh, Sturridge is back, Origi is looking great with each passing day, Ings is injured but he's been brilliant when fit & I expect him to play a major role in the future, even Benteke with all his faults has scored quite a few goals, important goals too. And we are scoring goals, that's what matters, maybe we'll bring another striker in the summer and if we do it has to be top class.

But Suarez is gone, no point in looking back now, he'll regret it anyway in the coming years! :p

Wouldn't hold out too much hope for Hodgson to be sacked. He's the classic yes-man, big part of why he got the Liverpool job in the first place (was never good enough) and they didn't keep Rafa, with him being the opposite (be interesting to see how vocal he is at Newcastle with similarly repugnant owners). Yeah Rooney is past it now, it's always the way with players like that though, managers are afraid to drop them from the team, let alone the squad and for Hodgson all the more. Something I think would be reasonable, especially if Rooney doesn't get many games before the season ends (with his injury and all). He wasn't playing well before let alone how he'll be without match fitness.

I miss Suarez, surely you must. Nice to see our strikers doing better and the future is looking pretty good, but having a player as good as Suarez, doesn't come along very often, doubt he'll regret it. Maybe he'll come back in a few years, you never know, remember seeing an interview where he said if he came back to England it would only be to Liverpool which'd be amazing obviously but wouldn't hold out much hope. We've moved on, and if he did come back somewhere down the line, that'd be great but if not, that's ok.

I have to admit that I will not miss Aston Villa when they get relegated. They've been hovering dangerously close to relegation for quite a while now, with 4 consecutive 15th or 16th place finishes from 2012-2015, so their luck has well and truly run out this season.

It will be funny if Newcastle get relegated after Mike Ashley finally loosened the purse strings this season. As much as I dislike Pardew and his arrogant, smug personality, he comfortably kept Newcastle up (even finishing 5th in 2012) when Ashley was largely disinterested in investing in the team.

Well I'm no great fan of Benteke, but when you replace him with Rudi Gestede, you are asking for trouble. Its been due frankly as you say for a while. It kind of seems like a shame, one of the big clubs historically, Villa but losing Benteke and Delph and not adequately replacing them has been fatal.

Think Newcastle will be ok now, they've got a top manager in and they are far from out of it, have spent all that extra money terribly though, the way the do transfers is a mess, whether they spend money or they don't, got big problems they need rid of Ashley ASAP whether they stay up or not. Really want Allardyce to go down though, and I reckon that the temptation to relegate him must've been a major factor for Rafa.

Rafa Benitez and Sam Allardyce have issues?

Yes ever since the first time they faced each other as Bolton and Liverpool managers back in 2004, their relationship has been strained to say the least.

Benitez was very critical of Allardyce and Bolton's style of play, while Allardyce always felt that Benitez showed a lack of respective towards him. Things especially came to a head when Allardyce was the Blackburn manager. He criticised Benitez for a hand gesture he thought was mocking him and his team. However he only did so after his friend and puppet master Ferguson had brought it up first. It was a blantantly pre-planned attack between the 2 of them against Benitez. And a year later they were at it again against each other.

I've always thought that it has been unfair to lump Allardyce in the same bracket as Pulis. Sure his teams haven't exactly played free flowing, expansive football. His Bolton teams had the likes of Okocha, Anelka, Djorkaeff and Diouf and could mix it up pretty well. And his West Ham team did play much more exciting football during the first half of last season with Enner Valencia in particular in great form.

Pulis's Stoke team were horrific to watch. Bankrolled by Peter Coates and Bet365, he spent a lot of money (they had the 3rd highest net spend in the league during his time there) but still set his team out to play negative, hoofball. He hated fullbacks and players under 1.80 m tall it seemed, and he is yet to finish in the top 10 in the Premier League in his managerial career.

Not the greatest El Clasico tonight.

The Bale disallowed goal should never have been disallowed. Corruptness everywhere.

Was at the Chelsea v Villa game today.

Chelsea didn't get out of 2nd gear and Villa were diabolical. I heard their first team got hammered by the youth team in a practice game a few weeks back, not hard to believe!

I thought RM was the only team with decent chances of stopping Barcelona from winning again Champions league and this only made me more certain.

Bale's goal shouldn't have been disallowed, and Ramos should have gotten a second yellow much earlier for the challenge on Messi. It all evened out in the end.

Suarez looked poor today.

So disappointed with Barcelona. They will win the league, but you cannot play a Clasico like that, especially after taking the lead.

Cruyff must be turning in his grave.

Barcelona played with tactical arrogance yesterday, and the likes of Bale and Ronaldo had far too much time on the ball.

They played at their best level in December and January. Since then they have won a lot of games thanks to the individual brilliance of their forwards and Busquets, but haven't quite looked at strong since then. Still to go 39 games unbeaten across all competitions is a ridiculously good achievement though.

Sergio Busquets is playing the best football of his career this season, and last night he was again Barcelona's best player on the pitch by far. Casemiro was outstanding for Real Madrid.

They should still get over the line and defend their La Liga title. Many people have been declaring it shoe in that they will defend their Champions League title this season, but there is a reason why no team has ever defended the competition since the 'old European cup era' since 1990. A lot of teams find that the breaks and element of luck go in their favour one year when they win the competition, but go against them the next year when they try and fail to defend it. Just compare Barcelona's semi-finals against Chelsea in 2009 and Inter in 2010 for example.

Their defence is still pretty vulnerable. Atletico's lack of firepower compared to 2 years ago and Enrique's 100% record against Simeone in all competitions so far, (6 wins out of 6) means that they are still favourites to win their quarter-final, but it still wouldn't surprise me to see them getting frustrated there. Atletico have by the far the best defence in Europe right now, and were excellent at the Camp Nou a couple of months ago even when down to 9 men. And I could definitely see Bayern or Real Madrid beating them in a potential semi-final or final.

Conte confirmed at Chavs - perfect match for a convicted cheat

Thats what I like to hear! He's not arriving till July and everyone is talking crap already lol. Always a good indicator if you're doing something right, in my experience.

Apparently he wants to play his much loved 3-4-3 (Kennedy and Cuadrado as wing backs, interesting!). He's a character in the Mourinho mould too, from what I hear. Should be entertaining anyway.

No team can play that formation in the Premier League and avoid relegation

Only Gullit, Van Basten and Rijkaard were that lethal as a trident.;)

Torres always turns up against Barca. Shame about that red card though, ref should have tried to keep it 11 on 11 or then atleast be consistent and give the same punishment to the Barca players. Torres does tend to get a bit excited sometimes, I remember he scored a goal at Stamford Bridge and then got sent off against Swansea for a horrific challenge. This wasn't that bad.

Barcelona were 1-0 down at the time.. Experience shows it was only a matter of time before their opponents would be a man down ;)

'I wouldn't sell that lot a virus'. :p

Strange result. I'm sure the betting man will have some fun on the second leg when Real are at home.

City look likely to take out PSG.

I am not. :p

On a serious note, I really felt bad for Chelsea then. Probably the only time ever I felt bad for that club. They were definitely the better team in that semi.

Yeah, think it was 4 penalties they missed in the end. One, maybe two would of resulted in red cards too. I remember them going over them in the studio afterwards, Souness was laughing in disbelief by the time they got to the third.. was just insane.

Huge respect for Barcelona but things like last night happen, it's kind of expected now.

That was just awful refereeing from that Norwegian guy. Glad I never saw him again.

All bigger teams received occasional protection. I don't like how people single out Barcelona though. Apart from that Stamford Bridge incident, the tie vs Milan and La Liga away games against Sevilla and Espanyol a few years ago, I believe the rest is blown out of proportion.

I think Mourinho played part in that while coaching Real. Some comments he made about Pep and Barcelona were a complete disgrace.
