Well, it isn’t as simple as that. The TC95 actually has more controlled power then the TC97. So while the 16x19 TC97 doesn’t bring as much brawn as the TC95 16x19 but you do get more spraying of the ball, a higher launch angle and a bit less spin potential. The TC95 has lots of brawn but in a versatile, predictable and ultimately better control.

Yeah, I'd say the difference of the TC95 16x19 and the 97 18x20 boils down to what you need for your game. The TC97 has extreme control, but the forgivness of the larger head. You can string at low tension and get lots of power.

The TC95 provides more power and spin but does not have the ball feel or laser control of the TC97.

If you want power and spin, the TC95 is awesome. If you want laser control in a frame that is easier to use than a classic control frame, the TC97 18x20 is perfect

Returning is so important in doubles... if the serve and return is there with the 100... then use it for both. Ive never switched sticks for doubles because it messes with the return game.
Thanks for your comment. I seem to play better overall with the 97. Maybe that's because I'm coming from the Pro Staff 97, anyway I guess I should sell the 100 and get another 97.

Well, I was comparing the 16x19 patterns not the TC97 18x20. I actually think the TC97 is better suited in 18x20 and fixes some things for me with accuracy and launch angle.

That make sense. I was curious about the 16x19 but I have now settled in with the 18x20 and am quite happy with it. My weakness was unforced errors and some inconsistency and this frame has really helped out with that immensely. I play a much higher % game now with the frame. I see it getting better over time as well.

I think it depends a lot on your movement and style of play. If your strokes are based on the spin, I think the TC 95 will give you more control. If you like to hit flatter, TC 97 would be a better option.

Gaining control through the use of spin is different from inherent control in my opinion.

My game is highly based on the spin, and I have great difficulty in keeping the ball on the court with rackets that are usually cited as great in control. Especially with 18x20 racquets and smaller head 98. That based on my strokes.
But this is my experience and personal opnion.

Well that's part of it... Id say the TC95 has more amplitude than any other MP Ive ever used... goes from flat to spin with more gusto... its a dynamic dynamic frame. If you are looking to bolster your consistency its not the frame for you unless you like to really vary your shots. Its a ballstriker frame with a lot of touch. I liken the TC97's as a more tempered offering. The prestige heritage is a very tempered personality... the prostaff heritage... at least the 85-95 sq inch ones was very dynamic. Just depends what you want. I think Paul is offering some very serious options that the other makers have seemingly gone away from but still supply to top pros.

I received the TC97 18/20, 320, 310mm today. The shipment was super fast!

I have mine with leather grip. Weight 323g which is perfectly fine. I strung it up with Big Hitter Silver 1.25, 22kg. Overgripped with Tourna and strung weight came to 346g. Strung balance is 31.4cm which I expected to be roughly 32cm - like Prestiges are. I have to admit I forgot to check unstrung balance. I measured the swing weight 331 which is like I expected.

I hope to be able to hit the courts soonest. However few of the average 50 rain days will happen tomorrow and beginning of next week :(. Also my left wrist is still after two months not usable due to the fracture so I will keep slicing.

I had few feel hits in my garage and the feel is soft / smooth. If you have hit with foam filled old school frames it feels familiar. POGs have it, older Prestiges have it... Perhaps it is a little more wobbly towards edges of hoop in comaprison to iPrestige and Graphene Prestige. But I can believe it to deliver on the courts.

My only worry is the balance. With 31.4 cm I mostly likely will lack with serves. Now there is room to add weight to hoop as SW is 331 but I prefer not to add much if any. Lets see. Third world problems but then again it is what this thread and other are about.

I will write up once I have properly played with it.

Hasta luego!

Not surprised he said that. SpinToWin also called the TC97 16x19 lacking in the "pop" department :) I think it's one of the most spin friendly racquets out there.

Well he is correct. Pop has nothing to do with Spin at all. The ball does not pop off the frame of the TC97 as compared to a stiff frame. That is a good thing IMO. It still has plenty of nice power, but if you want pop, that is a trait that is more pronounced in stiff frames.

My game is highly based on the spin, and I have great difficulty in keeping the ball on the court with rackets that are usually cited as great in control. Especially with 18x20 racquets and smaller head 98. That based on my strokes.

Yes, you brush the ball more. My game is also based on spin but I don't brush as hard. I like to hit through it more and as a result I have good success with tight pattern frames.

My TC97 18x20 came in today. Lovely frame, but I also learned today that my go-to stringer is working the Vienna Open and by the time he's back I will be on vacation. So no chance to try the racket until sometime in mid-November.

Then again that leaves me more time to decide which strings to go for first: Halo 2 or VS/RPM? In the TC90 I have Halo 2 at 21/20kg, VS/RPM at 23/21.5kg. I will probably keep the tension the same for the 18x20.

You can nice and low in the 18x20, so that sounds good. Right where I'm at.

Please remind why did you sell your RA63 frames? I am considering myself to buy TC95 RA70 18x20.

I loved them all by the way. Having the two RAs though was distracting and a little too much variation switching racquets and dialing in my game. RA 63 is superior in touch and a joy to volley with. 70RA won out for me due to better adjustment to launch angle and serving. My serving with the 70 was too good especially creating heavy kick serves.

Yeah, thanks. In the TC97 16x19 I always had Gravity at 21/20, then went down to 20/19 for the TC90. Went up to 21/20 again with Halo 2 since I seem to prefer a bit more tension indoors. I will just use the TC90 numbers as a starting point for the TC97 18x20, one less thing to think about. ;)

I struggle serving with RA63, I was thinking RA70 would have lower swingweight and will be easier to serve with!?

Does that RA70 feel much stiffer than RA63? I have some elbow and shoulder issues.
Best way to describe it is more firm, however comfort is not a problem at all. For instance, hitting with an RF97A will give me soreness but nothing from the Angells. The foam truly dampenes and filters out impact shock and any vibrations

Swingtool app. I have checked my results with RDC machine and they have always been constant

So you got the most HL option right? Did you get your unstrung SW from Paul? Mine is the 9pts HL unstrung option.Trying to guess my SW before I measure it tomorrow. It feels like 340-345 with the lead I put on, but it very well may be a little less. My SW was 299 unstrung.

Yes, I actually blindly followed Prestige specs (surprise). So went for 10pts HL. It actually had exactly same strung balance as my iPrestige. And not good for my serve... other my Prestiges are about 32cm strung.

Well not sure what your stock unstrung SW is or where you want the final to be, but I didn't like lead at 12 on it ;4 total grams at 3 and 9 is perfect.

Well the strung sw 331 is quite ok for me. I have had bit higher but also bit lower before. I actually tried wall and swings with 2g@12 and it up to some extent created the "suction" feel that I was missing. Lets see when I really get to courts. The serve...

Gravity has been my go-to string since about the time it came out, in various frames before (and including) the TC90, and I have been very happy with it. Only downside is, it destroys grommets. And I never seem to break it before its playability goes down the drain, but that's not much of a problem.

Now I hate testing different strings, but since by now I've pretty much decided to stay with the TC90 for the time being (unless the TC97 18x20 totally blows me away) I figured what the hell and decided to give a few other setups a try: Halo 2 (courtesy of Paul – thanks again!), Alu Power and VS/RPM (because I had sets of both lying around). Turns out I actually prefer Halo 2 over Gravity (see my previous post on this a page or two back) and VS/RPM might even be a better fit for the frame. We'll see, I have not hit with the Alu Power one yet. So no, I'm not switching strings depending on condition (that would probably deliver the final blow to my Gulbis-like mental game), I'm just demoing. ;)
