Imagine how both of them feel being 6 years younger than the guy who just won the 2 most important tournaments of the season so far? And the world-wide hysteria Fed's resurrection has caused? When Nole or Muzz win a slam, it makes barely a ripple outside their own countries. This shatters Nole, but it still has to resonate and tick off Muzz as well.

I too dont think he is injured. He just need some time off court, which is understandable. Impossible to hold up a high level for years in a row. Other players have had real injury breaks, Novak not. I think its fine he takes a break to charge himself up.
...and I dont think Novak does it because of Federer or Andy!

Just not the same mentally since he was caught cheating on Jelena.

The same happened to Manny Pacquiao and Tiger Woods. They were destroying their opponents physically and mentally. Had that extra it factor to them and arrogance. Pacquiao was gambling, drinking, cheating on his wife and got caught. Did this born again Christian thing and starts losing matches. Tiger got caught, was revealed he had a mistress in every city he toured in. Can't hit short putts to save his life. The same putts he used to sink and put fear into the guys on the top of the leaderboard that he was roaring his way back. I think the egos of all 3 came crashing down... coincidentally enough once Tiger and Manny got caught, lost their dominance, and started the "rehab" process they both kept saying "I'm focused on my family right now, insert sport name comes second right now to my family". Same stuff Nole's been saying.

Nole's repeating the same pattern. Tiger's been battling "injuries" for years since the affair news went public. Pacquiao has been beating up mid-card opponents but lost winnable matches. Nole hasn't won a tournament of any major importance since Roland Garros (maybe Toronto but after olympics really nobody played there. That was his to lose with that field).

I think what the issue is, these guys were all at the top of their games at the top of their sport. They had that extra arrogance and ego boost being the best at what they do. They have all this testosterone, sleeping with any woman they'd like really. They get caught and then their egos come crashing down and they lost that mental edge they had that got them to the top and allowed them to commit all this infidelity. Novak has no confidence right now and it shows. It's effecting his work ethic, his training, his mental stamina, etc. There's a reason Boris said he dropped Nole because Nole just wasn't practicing with the same intensity as before. It has zero to do with wanting to spend more time with Jelena and Stefan and more to do with him trying to mend the marriage without public embarrassment. Nole makes more than enough money to fly his entire family out to every tournament he wishes (like Roger does with Mirka, parents, all the kids, etc).

Whoever watched Djokovic and his serve over last couple months could see obvious decrease of speed , lack of a great kicker that he used to have 2014/2016. But hey that's natural decline , serve is the first shot that declines with age and .mileage

Honestly, I think both situations are different.

I think Djokovic MAYBE is injured. But Murray? Give me a break, he is not injured unless he fell in the stairs or something like that. Djokovic serve has sucked last months and that may lead to think the injury is real. However, Murray looked healthy as usual, so this is BS

Because he's 29 and is in a slump. Why play Miami? Players skip tournaments all the time and come up with all kinds of bogus injuries. I'm not saying he may not have some kind of problem with his elbow or whatever but a serious problem? I doubt it. He wouldn't have played doubles or smashed his racquet to a pulp if he had a serious elbow problem.

A much better plan for him at his age is to concentrate on the clay season and the FO in particular.

I don't know why they would avoid Miami at all if not for injuries. They both play well there, it's Murray training place, Djokovic won there 1526117 times. They both played until the very end of last season because they were fighting over #1, so they had less rest than anyone else. I think (and i hope) it's no big deal for both of them and that they can be ready to go for Monte Carlo.

Have you never played through an injury? Despite the discomfort you can still play at close to your best level if the injury isn't that serious. Djokovic has had this injury since last year. Of course Nick would have beaten him in straights even if Djokovic were fully healthy. That however does not mean that Novak did not play through injury at Indian Wells.

I think Murray has always accepted that Nadal and Federer are good for the sport. Also think he is good friends with them. For sure Djokovic on the other hand is really salty about Nadal and Federer being back in the spotlight and is unhappy about it.

manny lost matches before he got caught and lost some after he got caught .It s a little more complex than that with him.He s freacking 38 years old so he is way past his prime ,and got robbed of some matches.What he s lost is his killer instinct that he had before 2012.Which is understandable,it s hard to be a Christian and have a killer instinct.I don t know which winnable matches manny lost...marquez 4 he was bashing the guy s head in, got careless and after 4 fights marquez on PED managed to hit him with a fluke punch to KO him...bradley 1 was one of the biggest robberies in boxing...against mayweather he was injured and had everything stacked against him,plus the fight was way closer that media would like you to belive(if you know anything about boxing)..and those are the loses.I don t realy think he s comparable to djokovic .Pacquaio just got older and became a smarter boxer .
