Is this the end for Bouchard?

I really have no idea why did they put her on Ashe today, she really doesn't deserve so much respect. Since making these 3 deep slam runs in 2014 she basically played just 1 good match-against Sharapova in Madrid. Other than that she just gets too much attention. And today I feel it was too much. If you get breadsticked by a player like Rodina in the first round of a slam then maybe it is time to start looking for another job. So will she make another deep run or 2014 will just remain a fluke year?

Mardy Fish and ? (commentators) were literally fighting over why Bouchard sucks so much lately. Looks to me that Bouchard is just not that interested or focused.

Also, she's not defending any points from 2016 as she also lost first round that year. What an embarrasment.

They were JUST talkin about her in latin ESPN. Javier Frana and Eduardo Varela (to me, one of the BEST duos anywhere as tennis commentators/analysts, too bad for you guys its in spanish). I catched the discussion a bit late but they mentioned the exact same thing: why are they putting her in Ashe when she's having terrible results, and on top of it all, her beef with USTA is still very much alive (remember her lawsuit because she slipped and knocked her head? that was in a US Open a couple of year ago, no?).

Also, they talked about how she (or her entourage) walk around like they are rockstars, that she was moving around with an entourage surrounding her, with a hood on, not looking at anyone, not talking/listening.... They said that maybe its time for her to settle a bit, or get her feet back on the ground, that she's over-hyped and that probably its her whole group that blow hot air inside her head (not in those words, but thats the beef).

They closed the discussion saying that, to them, she's a big dissapointment, specialy because of her attitude and her big star self-perspective.

And this comes from two of the nicest guys on tv.

I never liked her attitude from when she first started making noise in australia and she basically scoffed at "genies army" in a post match interview.

Exactly. At least with Serena/Sharapova they are icons of the sport and multi-slam winners so you can understand why they have big egos and a rockstar-like presence. All Bouchard has done was get to the final of Wimbledon once lol, yet she acts like she's all that.

Really bizarre for the USTA to:

1) Give her a wildcard despite the lawsuit
2) Put her on Arthur Ashe stadium again despite the lawsuit (does she really sell a bucket load of seats and endorses a massive revenue because of her looks?)

Her contract with Nike is set to expire soon. I wonder if Nike will even reconsider signing her.

As for Bouchard, she made her fortune due to non tennis activities and she will continue to do and be a diva superficial star.

If I were the USTA, I'd keep giving her wildcards and putting her on Ashe every year. Because she's a fraud. So I might as well expose her as such, as many times as possible. And after her inevitable loss, I'd show her the exit to the National Tennis Center with a big, satisfied smile on my face.

I don't think this is the end for her, she is still only 23 yrs old. I feel like she is being raked through the mud here. I'm sure it's difficult for her not to live up to people's expectations of her, as well as her own. I think the probability is high she will regain at least some of her form. She will figure something out and start winning some matches.

Now as for Kerber, your guess is as good as mine what's going on there.

It's not bizarre at all; in fact, it was somewhat expected, and probably shrewd. One of the issues in the suit is the extent of Bouchard's career prospects. The USTA doesn't want to appear to be actively interfering with those. By giving Bouchard another opportunity to play at a slam in the best possible circumstances, and thus showcasing her dramatic failure, the USTA helped itself.

No intelligent lawyer would have advised the USTA, "Better not let Bouchard play."

Looks & name value. They will always trump talent in the entertainment world.

I don't like the way she threw Canada under the bus with the "expectations" comment a few weeks ago.

Be glad you have people cheering you on. Very sad. Shapo, Vasek and Milos = complete class, opposite.

They work hand in glove with the television stations to maximise ratings, her high profile & looks will do better numbers than less attractive talented players. Nike really will only care if she does something stupid like fails a test, makes a racial/homophobic slur or runs somebody over while drunk. Losing matches isn't really a problem as long as she keeps a clean image because of the marketability she has. Well she has made five & a half million dollars in a few years on tour for doing very little & will continue to cash in-she could retire now & will have earned several times what most people would have to work a lifetime to make.

Her modeling career is completely dependent on her remaining relevant in tennis. She's only a model by tennis standards, not model standards.

I think her plan is to do a reality TV show with Tomic next year. It will be called "Bouchard and Butthead".

Most 'models' these days are women on Instagram & Twitter promoting themselves & getting photoshoots. Tennis is totally irrelevant now to her as she has transcended the sport to some degree & so outside opportunities will always be there while she is young & attractive.

Better to cash in before those assets start depreciating.

I guess I'm saying that she's not that attractive and her name may be synonymous with "loser b!itch" before too long, making her toxic to any company.

She has transcended the sport to a degree, but not enough to keep things rolling for long without it I don't think. But, I'm the very last person to ask about millennial pop culture, so I could be totally wrong.

Would she be a model if not for tennis? I'd say no way, she ain't that sexy.

Kournikova could have made it without tennis and she definitely made it after tennis. I don't think the same is true for Bouchard. JMO.

Bouchard doesn't have the same curves, class, or elegance as AK

could you give me more details on what she said ? Just curious, I'm from Montreal and interested why she'd put us down. She comes from a very posh area of Montreal, her being a bit snobbish wouldn't surprise me.

She was always over-hyped ad has no real game. She really sucks. There's better new players and veterans who deserve more attention. So glad she is out.

Omigod I did not know that, and had to check to see if that were true. It in fact was. They put freaking Genie Bouchard on Ashe when facing a nobody (or should I say another nobody, haha). Too funny. Such an overhyped nothing, and I know I should show more Canadian pride for the women who had the best successful year ever by a Canadian several years back but she is such an unbearable bee-tch it it hard.

They put her on Ashe because she is beautiful and people come out to see her play. This is a business

She isnt that beautiful. Compared to Ivanovic, Hantuchova, Muguruza, and even Sharapova (and I dont even find Pova that hot like a lot of others do) she is a dog.

Lol.
You are clearly part of a small minority if you dont think Pova and Bouchard are beautiful.
It's well known that Bouchard is considered beautiful everywhere. That's why people come out to see her play. Everyone knows she has been playing crap for quite some tome now

Actually read through this thread. Quite a lot here anyway dont find her amazing looking at all. Like some others have said if she doesnt start producing some results her so called modeling career will tank. She is only hot for tennis playing standards, not model hot for general standards.

And yes I know I am in the minority on not finding Sharapova the hottest thing going and acknowledged it. I still do rate her high in attractiveness and easily over Bouchard.

Lol ok. This forum is definitely NOT a representative of how beautiful she is or how people around the world view her.
Look, people still come to see her play even though she hasnt played well for years now. Obviously they dont come to see her great game. The USO organisers arent stupid. They put her on Ashe for a reason. She sells tickets. She wouldve made quite a name for herself if she had half the grit and drive of Sharapova.
On a personal note, I find her the most attractive of all wta players and she definitely has model looks. Only thing is that she may not be tall enough for most models. Looks wise, she is definitely there

I'm from Montreal and I heard through the grapevine that she's been "distracted" lately, you know, boy troubles and stuff. That plus partying pretty heavily when she's in town so yeah, tennis is not her main focus at the moment.

She was, IMO, already overrated in tennis, and, in looks, but the decline seemed to pick up speed after the handshake incident. Couldn't happen to a nicer player-well, maybe Shriekapova.
