Shapovalov is so annoying. He knows you can't ask for a first serve just because the chair checks a mark. That is ridiculous. I just can't stand this guy's gamesmanship. Between crap like this and him taking MTO's for massages before his opponent's serve... just gross.

Why don't we ask the top 150 players and ask what is fair? The Majors have it right... We want to know who the best is in a reasonably fair draw system, not who has played 1/3 less matches over the last 6 days
There have been lots talks about this. There is always positives and negatives.

People forget that Shapovalov is just 19. Give him time. At 19 you don't dominate tennis. You keep evolving.

He's playing Mr. Gamesmanship himself, though.

How is Nadal doing gamesmanship? Slow serving? Hell, I've been a proponent of the zero-tolerance/no recovery time/shot-clock on serves for years. But half the tour serves outside of the current boundary right now. I'm all for fixing slow serving in the ATP, but it needs to be enforced completely fairly and without exception.

Well yes everyone who takes more time than allowed is cheating

Good stuff from the King. The QF is quite unpredictable as we don't know which version of Fognini will show up. Maybe a very motivated one as we're in Rome after all.

Good learning experiences, remember he really hasn't been in these positions in Master on clay last year... Hopefully he learns from this.

Half of the tour (including Shapovalov) might be slow-serving... but half of the tour does not do the additional things that Shapovalov does. Shapovalov's style of gamesmanship is usually only done by a small percentage of wankers.

No need to be so defensive. Didn't say anything about fault. It's the competition's fault for being so weak.
Fed fans complaining about the competition... Federer is the first to blame for this, he is the world no 1, Nadal's main rival and he doesn't participate in tournaments not because of health issues, just that he doesn't want to. I don't think it would've been too much for Roger to play just Rome and Rg or affect his chances at Wimbledon, but I guess he knows better.

Some of Nadal's points looked completely unplayable. Example: the first point of game seven in the second set. First Nadal hits a crazy angle out wide to Shap's forehand, who just barely gets his racquet on it but still hits a good deep cross-court, where Nadal bludgeons it perfectly down the line. Scary stuff.

Didn't read. Everyone knows the competition is weak. You lot can keep denying it if it makes you feel better.
