Not a clue! If he plays his best Shapo's got this, but he's in uncharted territory for him in terms of matches played in a row and playing on a big stage, so who knows.

Either shapo in 3 or Edmund in 5 are my best guesses. I guess I'll split the difference and vote for Shaps in 4, but I've got no idea.

Edmunds BH is weak. Shapo is more balanced on both sides + better serve + better volleys and willing to go in to finish off points

Yeah, no doubt Shaps will come away with the win here, but there should be some sparks 'cuz Kyle ain't no pushover, he's got game and heart.

In fact, I think both these players tend to bring a sort of Davis Cup level of intensity to their matches...it's great for the spectator, so think we're in for a daytime treat today!

Can't wait to see this. I actually like Edmund. Excellent attitude and commitment. I hope in a 5 set thriller. Shap favorite but anything can happen.

Just like that dude in your avatar - not the biggest names in the game, but very much up-and-coming and with the grit and shotmaking ability to make any match a thriller!

At a Slam this just multiplies ;)

Yep! I'd really love to see Goffin back on track, but it's not being easy! Two incredible episodes marked negatively 2017 season for him.
-The incredible error of Cedric Mourier in Montecarlo's match agaist Nadal. And yes, I believe that Nadal would have lost that match if Cedric wouldn't have got down empire chair on that point.
-And the nasty fall at Roland Garros.
Yesterday Goffin won a good battle against dangerous Pella and this gives hope that he is back. Now Monfils. A 100% Goffin would win Monfils easely. But...
I'll keep my signature, if it will not happen in 2017, it's there for 2018!

Yeah man, those were two instances really that tripped him up this year...both quite random and unfortunate.

That's the thing about tennis though, it's not only about what goes right, but what doesn't go wrong! Unlike team sports where your squad can still carry the team's momentum even if you're forced to sit out a few matches...on the tour, you're screwed unless you can somehow re-create the magic. Good news is looks like during that Pella match his confidence was in full flow!

And it do believe like @Hitman that Shaps is Rog's rightful heir and could prove it at this Open

I'd prefer any Next Gen torch-passing ceremonies to take place AFTER Fred hits 20 though :D:D

Edmund has a ferocious forehand when he is on song, however I have seen him implode way too many times for me to be confident in him. Shapovalov has been so consistent since Montreal, like really consistent in my eyes.

Finally matches I want to watch are on a time I can watch. Getting a whole afternoon and evening of tennis viewing.

This one should be fun. I'm ok with whatever result, but Shapo is the first ATP youngster I've been properly excited about for quite a long time.

Forehand vs backhand battle. More love for that backhand from me though.

Let's hope Shapo has permanently parked his errant DC passion at the curb! The chair umpire should not wear a helmet.

Shapo won their tight Queen's Club match in three. Hoping for The Hat in 4.

Well, you never know, the blood might come rushing back to his head...after all, it WAS Kyle that he played then! :D

Shap defeated Edmund at Queens earlier this year. Their only previous meeting was the unfortunate DQ incident for Shap at Davis cup. More unfortunate for the ump. However Edmund was completely in control of that BO5 match.

I am excite

I'm just glad Edmund is the other half. It means Eurosport are guaranteed to have it on. No extra player or apps needed. Whoop whoop.

Such a loyal Brit follower I am. :p

This could very much go either way. On one hand, Shapo has been red hot and seems to be a good big match player, on the other, Edmund is playing extremely solid tennis and is more experienced.
