Do you think Chelsea will sack Sarri? Been reading that Sarri's tactics wouldn't go down well with Juventus. Frank Lampard at Chelsea feels right. Maybe if he gets Derby promoted he wants to continue apprenticeship and keep them up then move. I don't know. Guess it is hard to turn down if they come calling right now.

I didn’t think they would sack Sarri, but everything we’ve heard the last 48 hours suggests he will be gone. He’s said they should just fire him now, before the Europa League final.. so it looks like Sarri knows it’s coming.

I agree on Lampard probably needing another year with Derby, but I think Chelsea being in trouble with the transfer ban, Hazard leaving and generally not being anywhere close to where they were 10 years ago means Frank will probably want to come back and try to turn things round. Throw in the fact he will play the young players, Cech is returning also.. it feels like the perfect opportunity.

We need to build from scratch in many ways, and Lampard is probably the only manager that will be given time to do it.

De Ligt deal seems to be stalling. If any of the reports are true, someone else has made a much bigger offer, which Barcelona can't match. What I am trying to say is, go away, Manchester United! :p

Final day of the French league tonight and can't see anything at stake for anyone. Barring a five goal game from Mbappe, Messi will be confirmed winner of the European Golden Shoe for the season, becoming the first player to achieve a threepeat.

Interested to see what will happen with PSG this summer. Their main two stars will always be linked to someone else, especially when they don't publicly commit like Mbappe, while their owner seems to be having his own problems as he was charged with corruption in relation to a payment over the organization of the World Athletics Championships in Qatar.

Two cup finals tomorrow, with two doubles at stake as well. Bayern play Leipzig in Berlin and can crown their recovery from a big slump at the start of the season.

Barcelona seek some sort of redemption for that Champions League disgrace in Copa del Rey final against Valencia. Staggering rise of hotel prices in Sevilla by nearly 150%, as they want to take advantage of this spectacle as it's the first time the city is hosting a final since 2001. It's so good when you have friends all over the country and can go to their place instead. :D

Winning the final would make this season pretty much the same as the previous one. Domestic double is a wonderful achievement (and it would be our 4th in the last 5 seasons), while the whole season got stained heavily by just one game. Last time it was 3-0 in Rome, now it is 4-0 in Liverpool. The team improved, but didn't fully learn.

I am looking forward to the day when I see the back of Valverde (assuming it's in favor of the coach with the mindset that we want), as well as the back of Bartomeu. Unfortunately, it will probably take at least a year for that to happen, which is a shame, since the best player in the world is not 25 anymore, so risking "wasting" another year or two while he is still around is not as acceptable.

Hard to see anyone taking De Ligt away from you , But we will see how everything unfolds. I’m still a little hurt when I hear about De Jong.

Arguably the worst season during the QSI era honestly. I don’t really mind the media linking our players to some european clubs , They’ve staying and i guess that’s what matters , Mbappe seems to want more power and responsability , He wants to be the striker which means Cavani is gone , I can agree with that and he can definitely say that in private instead of doing it the way he did , That was embarrassing and childish. Neymar seems just cool about everything , I just want him to be fit , As crazy as it might sound , If you ask me who will become a legend for us and who’s more likely to be here in 5 years , I will say Neymar. About Nasser , He’s not really the owner and I don’t really believe all the allegations , We support him , Although i don’t believe he’s a saint. Nasser can easily be fired

Going with Leipzig on this one

If Barcelona doesn’t win , Do you think Valverde will be sacked?

I hope so. Luckily, even though they have a lot of money, Manchester United are not a place that players can't say no to now.

Not surprising it was childish since it came from a child. :p I still rate Neymar very highly and, as disappointed as I was by his decision to leave, I wished him well. It's a shame he was injured for the crucial part of the season twice in a row. I know he regularly dodges the game closest to his sister's birthday, but these were long breaks. He still has the potential to do something great with your club, but time is on Mbappe's side I guess...

I doubt it. He extended his contract for the next season and still has backing from the board. Leo and players gave their support to him as well, blaming themselves for the recent failures. I am against the general scapegoating of the manager when the team is doing poorly and believe in second chances, but he has to be at least partially responsible for allowing the same kind of elimination again. Now we will have two ghosts to deal with next time we find ourselves defending a lead in the 2nd leg away. As big as Barcelona are as a club, negative history can affect anyone.

Tiniest margins decided this season as we could have easily been in contention for the treble now. But even if we achieved it, I think I would see the manager situation in a similar way. We were dragged by one player like never before in the last two seasons. As privileged as we all feel witnessing him play, that "shouldn't" be happening on this level.

Not gonna lie, I do feel bad for Messi. If it wasn't for him, they wouldn't have been in contention they were in, while there is no doubt he got a lot of stick for the elimination when it should have been more directed at the rest.

I imagine they will be even better prepared for 2020. De Jong with strong possibility of De Ligt and Griezmann joining... That's a strong spine right there arriving. On top of the team they already have... They will be scary.

Safe to say they have to worry a lot less about their upcoming years than Man United and Real Madrid. :X3:

Mbappe scored in PSG's 3-1 loss to Reims. 33 goals, well ahead of everyone else in Ligue 1 for this season.

But just a little short of Leo's 36 in La Liga. The European Golden Shoe has been won by La Pulga for a third consecutive season, and it is his sixth in total. Good race, kid.

So much work to do in the summer getting the right guys and getting rid of the deadweight in the club , We need reinforcement in the attack , midfield and defense including GK.Also a better mentality , We’re mentally weak and probably even a new coach with a new philosophy who can actually handle things , There’s something really wrong with this squad , Playing in such a uncompetitive league doesn’t help , Barely get tested , We can’t change that , But we can change other things and find success , Seriously the project can still be saved.

Who have PSG been rumoured to be looking at? I know about the interest in the two young Dutch players, haven’t heard much else though.

According to our reliable sources. For attack we’re looking at Pepe from Lille and Neres from Ajax. For Midfield is Ndombele from Lyon , Van de Beek from Ajax , Allan from Napoli and of course we’re almost finishing a deal with Herrera from United. For defense is Evan Ndicka from Frankfurt , Hermoso from Real Sociedad and De Gea

Oh wow, plenty of names linked then. That’s definitely a good thing. I think teams go wrong when they spend all summer chasing their top targets, then panic at the end when they have to look elsewhere. We’ve been guilty of that recently, I think it’s been a big part of the problems at United too.

Coming back to our discussion about prices earlier, I’ve just seen Atletico and PSG have inquired about Richarlison from Everton. The cost? £100 Million. Everton gonna Everton :sneaky:

Yeah, that has been the United trademark.

Richarlison a wee bit down from the 100 billion but still huge fee. I see United are supposedly interested as well. But then we're interested in everybody.

De ligt. That funky agent trying to get the most for his player (and himself) is all cool and all. It sucks when you know for sure there is no chance of it happening. You just know that you will see that he has signed for Barcelona in the days ahead.

Another chance for a double today for Barcelona, but I don’t ****ing care. The season is destroyed, that’s the feeling I’m leaving with. I don’t care that Real Madrid didn’t win a single title. To not be in the Champions League final after a 3-0 advantage is embarrasing, especially considering Valverde and the players evidently learned nothing from the Roma shock last year. Like Messi said to the press yesterday: ”we’re sorry because we didn’t compete.” Well, why the hell didn’t you compete?! You had opportunity after opportunity in the second half to show some fight, to show some balls... after each of Liverpool’s goals, yet everyone just stood there in silence. Absolutely pathetic. I don’t give a **** if Barcelona wins today. I almost hope they lose so the fire burns even brighter under Valverde’s defensive minded a**. Barcelona needs to wake up and for once listen to their fans. 99% want Valverde out.

Yeah, I think the keys to a good transfer window are to do your business early and to have a plan if your top choice doesn’t happen. Dortmund being the ones who stand out this summer, so far.

The last good window we had was 2014 when Fabregas and Costa were signed early. When you contrast that with recent ones (Zappacosta on deadline day, Kovacic on loan in August because we were out of options, even missing out on average players likes of Llorente because we were aimless etc..).

Man Utd have pretty much matched us step for backwards step over the last 5 years. It’s no surprise to see both clubs in the position they are now.

As for De Ligt, tough to blame him. There are red flags though. If you surround yourself with questionable characters and cause drama before you’ve even signed, it’s not a good look imo. It’s like Griezmann, incredible player, but these grand announcements he makes and all the drama that seems to follow him every summer has to be off putting.

If the European elimination didn't seal Valverde's faith, I don't see a loss in Copa final doing that. It looks like the board and the players see some qualities in Valverde that we don't, and I am afraid we will have to deal with that for another year. Maybe the patience pays off in 2020, maybe it doesn't, but it is what it is.

A trophy is a trophy. The club doesn't have a Champions League or nothing mindset in any season, especially considering we are always in contention for the league whenever we progress far in Europe. The manner in which the last two eliminations happened really sting, but the club have the still ongoing domination in the country to be very proud of, and have every intention of preserving that into next year. Barca never had to rely on Champions League to save our season before spring like Madrid did recently due to shambolic performances in Spain, although it turns out their "risks" paid off. More than probably even they expected. Definitely more than they deserved.

I know that the Barca board has stated their faith in Valverde and I'm aware of that a loss in the Copa del Rey final won't change much, if anything. However, Valverde doesn't deserve another double. Messi has saved him time after time and this defensive style isn't the way Barca is supposed to play. Klopp, Guardiola and a few others are so much better match coaches than Valverde.

Sure, a trophy is a trophy. But we already have 30 Copa del Rey trophies. One more won't make me that happy tbh. It's too small in the grand scheme of things. If I had been Messi, I would be so furious that poor board and management wasted so many great opportunities for at least two Champions League titles. The way Messi had been playing and that we got 3-0 after the first leg of the semifinal... this was a treble season and nothing less. Valverde is responsible. And I also feel the lack of commitment from the players at Anfield (except Vidal) was embarrassing. They didn't come out after the match to talk to the supporters. Not a single player. Not Pique, not Messi. I'm still angry with the semifinal loss, as you can tell, and I'm not bound to forgive them just yet. I want Valverde to feel the fire. The easier the supporters forgive them, the more likely it is that it continues this way. With an inept board, a coach who doesn't do his homework and players that are 99% there but not 100%.

Pique. Busquets. Alba. Players that are too satisfied with their lives and what they've achieved as footballers. They lack the extra hunger that each player in Liverpool showed at Anfield. We need a change. Without Messi this season we wouldn't even have won a title. Remember that.

Oh absolutely there are better manager options for Barcelona. If I wanted anything it was Pep being our own Sir Alex. But those managers don't exist anymore, and Pep won't be working that long anyway.

It should have been a Champions League final at least, I don't want to hand titles to Barcelona as Valencia and Tottenham have quality and earned their places in the finals as much as anyone. For sure I am disappointed myself, after that loss I just wanted to fast forward to today's final and be done with the season quickly, move on to the summer. I think less of this group than I did before their elimination, but I love them still. My general impression is that these guys got more stick than deserved for the previous disappointments in Europe from everyone else. Nobody feels worse about that than them but they should feel some sort of comfort in front of their supporters in comparison to everywhere else. They got booed by a half empty Camp Nou during their first game after Liverpool. I don't think they deserve the same treatment and attitude from the fans for the next season's opening games and the final as well. Regarding the Copa, I see it the same way I saw it back when I watched Cruyff and Rexach lifting it four decades years ago, and, being in Sevilla right now, our mosaic for the final tonight will call for everyone to be united, as there is a trophy to be won and always an opportunity to react next season. Of course it isn't as great as winning the league or conquering Europe (which we could have done in Madrid of all places :cautious:) but it's a chance to end the season on some sort of a positive note. And then, we start over.

I think it's more about needing an extra option than a change. Those guys have been immense over the years, Pique and Alba are still one of the best in the world in their positions, and their experience would be valuable to any younger talents that arrive, and we could end up with two big potentials from Ajax in the summer. Generally speaking I don't hold it against the rest for not matching Leo's level, but they shouldn't be as inferior as they were in the last two years. He shouldn't be forced to play as well as he does for the whole season just so we could have a shot at Champions League. Own goals being our second biggest source of goals after him for the last two years in that competition is an ugly look.

If Bayern get Sane for 80m or for anything under 100m , You really have to give them credit. I really admire Bayern's transfers , They get things right without having to spend a lot , They have a created a big legacy in Germany and to the point almost every german talents wants to join them , So they take advantage of players contract situations to get low fees or they take advantage of low release clauses. Of course know , They recognize the game is changing and they're spending big.

Paris should take notes , Although their situation is different cause Bayern has a bigger legacy , Much more success and Bundesliga is more attractive than Ligue 1. Big german talent is more likely to stay for more time in Bundesliga than big french talent.

I see Atletico are looking at Falcao.. again. He's been scoring goals again the last few seasons, but for a top club with a great recent history with strikers, you'd think they could do better than someone who'll be 34 next season! Maybe you're right and they're losing their touch.

I'm sure PSG will be fine, they always seem to bring in one or two quality players every window. Last summer was Mbappe and Kehrer, and a few others. Paredes in January I think?

Plus if it doesn't go to plan, you can always be thankful you're not Chelsea. We don't get to sign anyone.. and we need it a lot more than you do :p

I think they want a temporary option , Cavani will be good for them. I don’t see Falcao going to any other European club after Mónaco

Both Kehrer and Paredes flopped , I wouldn’t be mad if we wouldn’t have overpay for them too , But we did , Like 85m for both. Bernat was the only good signing , only costed 5m

The good thing about transfer bans is probably that we will see more of your academy players on the field. You need to try not to collapse though and finish with European football instead of outside the Top 7 , It will be harder without Hazard definitely

Celtic have completed the treble treble. Coming from behind to beat Hearts 2-1 in the Scottish cup final.

Still 0-0 in the league two playoff. Time to turn the tv on if it goes to penalties.

I think both will be good, given time. Kehrer is still young and Paredes seems to be one of those players who needs to get used to the pace and flow as someone who pulls the strings in midfield. That takes time in a new country. He could well be a flop, like Riquelme and Veron were at certain clubs, it wouldn’t shock me. I’d give him a full season first though.

Ha yes, just a shame Hudson-Odoi and Loftus-Cheek both look unlikely to play next season. I think we might of been ok if they were both fit. Giroud as the only striker at the club is seriously worrying though. Losing Hazard’s goals and only having one average striker means it’s going to be tough going.

Still, big win. Can't remember when was the last time someone other than from Barcelona, Real or Atletico won anything in Spain.

Can't mock us for glorifying Copa del Rey if we don't win it.

hqdefault.jpg

It was a very positive pre-game mood, both in the fanzone and when greeting the players on their entrance to the hotel. The game itself was quality all things considered. But that performance didn't deserve to be crowned with a title. A shame, because Barcelona could have become the first team in history to win five Copa del Rey titles in a row.

It wasn't meant to be. Fascinating game football, as I remember Valencia needing two injury time goals to progress against Getafe earlier in the competition. Lost 1-0 away while it was 1-1 at their home with minutes remaining. They pulled off a miracle there and now celebrate a trophy. Their first since 2008 Copa and a fitting celebration of their 100 year anniversary. They were comfortably our toughest opponents in Spain this season, as we needed to come from behind to rescue a draw twice in the league. This time, we were too late. Congratulations to them. Very well deserved.

Disappointing end to the season. And now I owe my ex dinner since we made a bet regarding the final. She lived in Valencia for nearly 30 years. Charming. Wish I didn't empty the bottle that Pablo brought when we won La Liga so quickly, but it was inevitable after what happened at Anfield.

There is once again a chance to look back at what this group have achieved domestically. Since 2014-15, 4 La Liga titles and 4 Copa del Rey trophies. Denied a complete 10/10 sweep by Ramos' late equaliser in 2016-17 El Clasico and last night by well organised Valencia. Something to be proud of as nobody has ever been this convincing in the country, but a lot of work ahead for 2020.

Nothing more to say for this season except best of luck to Tottenham. I hope they win the title.

The fight for the last 2 CL spots between Inter , Roma , Milan and Atalanta is amazing

So far Atalanta and Milán are in , while Inter is staying out despite spending almost the whole season in Top 4 and shooting 8 on target in the 1st half of this game
