Well, she is not 38yo. Osaka is a young lady. She should fight but she seems to be lost . OK, everyone can have a bad day at the office still. I still think that she shouldn't have fired Bajin. It is just my opinion.
Seles, Graf, Navratilova, Evert always played well at all tournaments. No big drama when they were on the court.
What bothers me with her is that she can't figure out what to say. She keeps changing her story. As if someone else is talking for her. Double personality disorder?

Osaka will maintain #1 ranking for the time being with Halep's exit from Miami, but she will need to find some results on clay to stay on top.
In the past she has not done much on clay so it will be interesting to see if she can find a new gear there as a world number 1 and with a new coach.

OK, I found out that It is her father that is really her coach, not her coach. Her coach is just a hitting partner that will work for minimum wage. This is another case of Controlling father that wants to keep the money flowing into his pocket. Her father is very afraid of losing control of her daughter.

I insisted from day one that it was a bad move for her tennis. Every single thing she has done since then has only confirmed this.
She strangely committed a blunder that tennis pros are rather good at avoiding: never interrupt your own winning momentum. The time will come when you are a bit slumping or injured down the road. That's when it's appropriate to reorganize... fire people. Osaka did the complete opposite. She suddenly dismantled her entire team immediately after winning 2 slams. An unprofessional move - an own goal. She deviated from following her idol Serena's script here, as Serena has never done any stupid thing like this.
Supposedly Naomi did all this out of a habit (if the reports are true) repeating her junior-era practice of hiring coaches and sneaking out the back door and leaving them for another better one without warning, in some Piotr-type belief that they have served their purpose and that she has learned enough from them. Except this time, she didn't go from Bajin to a bigger name coach. So even from this "family tradition" standpoint, Osaka acted out of order when she fired Bajin. For the first time she hired a yes-man who will whisper sweet-nothings in her ears and make her "happy"... or whatever she claimed.
Seems to me like she was better off keeping Bajin and adding a therapist to the team... or perhaps a Djokovic/Oprah style personal hippie (Pepe Imaz/Marianne Williamson).

So remember all those that were saying criticism of her decision to part ways with her coach was wrong and mean, and that we should give it 6 months to see how whether it was a good idea or not.

If Osaka had been taking advice from the likes of those talking about how its all about being happy and "feelings" well look where its taking her. Well done. Id say in future people should stay away from you for advice.
The best route is not the easy route, its the harder route. Tough love is necessary to help you grow.

You do understand she had grown as a player since Wimbledon 2018 and was on an upward trajectory. Back to back grand slams, world Number 1.
If shes back at the level she was last year , or worse, well that puts her at rank 60 odd.
And her recent playing style and form suggest this to be the case - erratic, lots of errors, over hitting shots. Back to the old Naomi.

I don't think it's fair to pin the stiffing/switching coaches as a junior on Naomi. She was just a kid, I'm sure she had zero say in how those issues were handled. So cut her slack there.
I think it's fair to assume she had a lot of say in firing Bajin, although we have no idea what was going on behind the scenes - the tennis was great but if they did not get along it was a doomed partnership.
One thing for sure - she handles herself extremely poorly in the press and seems one dimensional on the court. Which is why I'm glad Ash Barty came along, she seems like the opposite in every way.

.Shes received only 240 rankings points for reaching the 4th round. Winning it got her 2000 points last year so she has lost 1760 points.
Following her US Open win, and the tournaments shortly after up to the AO, thats when she built up all her points that has carried her throughout this year. If she doesnt start winning something soon she will drop way down after the AO.
Dont forget as No.1 she has had an easier draw in every tournament. In this tournament shes played ranking 84, 53 and 140 before losing to rank 13. She hasn't beaten anyone in the top 10 this year.
Those that supported the decision to part company with the coach are running out of excuses, cant blame the surface anymore.
It seems the people saying it was a good decision have gone all quiet now. Those were exactly the type of people that would have given her the wrong advice.
The lesson to be learned in life is never to listen to those that only display "empathy" and "emotional support" and "feelings", listen to the objective criticism instead if you want whats best for you in the long term.
The objective person doesnt care about your feelings, they may be harsh, they may sound "mean" - but that candour and frankness also means theyll tell you the truth, not just blow smoke up your backside.
