Nike Air Zoom Zero (summer 18 release)

I really wanted to like these shoes. I have a narrow foot and they fit great and the cushioning was Awesome as well but I played a tough singles match tonight and I had the worst pain on the outside of each foot. It was not from the shoe rubbing against my foot but the type of pain you get from planter fasciitis I could barely walk and it only felt better after ice on each foot for an hour. Has anyone else had this problem? I am prone to planter fasciitis but that is usually on the arch.

I wanted to love these shoes so much so that I bought it in my true size and bared the 20 minutes of constricting pain at the start of a session for a month before buying next size up. It was a little better but still tight on the sides. Two months in, the damn lace loop detached from the base. Still haven't figured out how to fix it. I bought a pair of Yonex shoes on clearance and although I love them they occasionally give me that side forefoot pain on my left foot. They are snug too and possibly a source of the pain but I'm thinking I probably need insoles with better arch support as well.

I bought several pairs of the Zoom Zeroes I went a full size up, I really enjoyed them as well. The eyelet on each different shoe the lace broke three times. On three different occasions.

The good thing is, I sent then back to Nike and I each time they sent me a voucher. Contact Nike for a replacement voucher.

I’m playing in Nike Cage 3’s now. Really good shoe, no issues either.

Really? I think I did call them to get it replaced and they said too bad. Is there a specific way to go about this?

Thank you for the responses. I was hoping to get to the point where the eyelet came off but I didn’t make it these shoes made the side of my foot hurt too much.

The eyelet break happened to my first pair of zoom zeroes when I kicked off my shoes without fully undoing the laces, I am now very careful to fully undo laces and make sure there is not too much friction when I remove the shoes. My retailer refunded me and I bought a new pair in a different colour and they have been great for a few months now.

I buy all mine true to size. I do have to switch to thinner socks from my usual TMX Thorlos with the AC3 v1.1+, not because it's too tight but the toe area narrows in a way that causes the big toe to callus up. Going 1/2 size up created too much space in length and I had toe jamming. I prefer the AC3 for traction, stability and wear. With Zoom Zeros, I have no such fit issue and prefer it for comfort and cushioning.

Loosen the laces. The flywire inside the outer will cinch just a tight as you make them. This is what gives it the glove-like fit - but you can definitely over tighten them.

Really enjoy this shoe although I did have to send a pair back due to a lace eyelet breaking on me, had my second pair for about 5 months now and the souls are starting to lose grip causing me to slip on the artifical grass courts at my local club. These will probably last longer on a hard court but I can't be sure.

I have never played on artificial grass but I do wear the shoes that I love them. I’m curious to know if those who play on artificial grass wear actual grass shoes and if they perform better. Zoom Zero does not have a grass model.

Has anyone tried the white summit version with the see-through light blue soles? I was wondering if the material is different from the "standard" soles, in order to make it see-through.

Just recently picked up a pair of the zoom zeros and I think they may be my favorite shoes I’ve owned over the 15+ years I’ve been playing tennis. They fit my foot like a glove, love the cushioning and how quick I feel in them. My only concern yet to be seen is the durability in terms of how the outsole will hold up.

it depends for me. Different clubs have a different amount of sand on the artificial grass. So if I know I’m playing at a sandy club I’ll wear my Grass shoes. If it’s not sandy I’ll just wear my regular Vapor X. I also have a grass court soles Zoom Zero which I haven’t worn yet. Got them off the big auction site. Made for tiafoe to wear last year on the grass. If you’d like pictures I can post some.

After 5 pairs without a problem, I finally fell victim to the dreaded torn lace strap on my Light Bone ZZ today. Looks like Nike will be getting a chat from me tomorrow morning....

I realize they're not the same but do the Zoom Zeroes come with the same super thick insoles found on the Air Max Wildcard?

I like this and the current colorway. Wish they'd kept the swoosh placement the same as previous versions.

I’ve had the wildcard for a few minutes.. and returned them. The shoes were much larger than my vapors by nearly an inch probably due to the fact that it had an insole that was really thick in the forefoot. This makes the foot sit much higher, in a much larger shoe. Wondering if the ZZ has the same issue.

Was a SS 3 user until all of the negative reviews on the SS FF. Bought a pair of the AZZ in the gold on sale at TW. Shoes fit, althought I probably could have gone down half a size.

One thing I noticed, the fabric upper at the point it meets the rubber toe protection soaked up sweat in the 90 minutes doubles I played. Never had a shoe visibly exibit soaking up sweat like that, even though I know my feet run hot and shoes are drenched after I play.

Anyone notice the same issue? Know of the best ventilated shoes with similar support as AZZ??? These shoes are super comfortable, but now all I can think of is how weird my feet look after an hour of play.

i also have the same problem and will only be wearing them for cold months, hopefully that alleviates something

I received my first pair of ZZ's on Friday along with a new pair of X's. I suffer from chronic small achilles tears right at the heel so need a really good/secure fit. As soon as I put them on and tightened them I could tell there might be an issue. I got to the courts and played for 2 mins and immediately had an issue. Thankfully, I brought an old pair of X's with me and switched immediately and didn't have any further problems. TW has been great about the exchange and have a second pair of X's on the way.

I wish they had worked out because the comfort/cushioning felt far superior to the Vapors.

I'm looking for shoes that have better-than-average forefoot cushioning, and it seems like these probably fit the bill? I have the Adidas SoleMatch Bounce (via a TW playtest), and when I coach I will hit in with kids/stand around for about 3 hours. By the end of that one of my knees is killing me, I'm assuming because the SoleMatch Bounce has dreadful forefoot cushioning. It seems like the ZZ's would fit the bill to help with the issue, but I just wanted to double check. Is the general consensus that these have some of the best forefoot cushioning of any shoes currently on the market?

The cushioning is very nice on the ZZ, but I think what it does best is lean the wearer's weight toward the forefoot. The outsole wear is average at best, but the pattern works well on surfaces like artificial and real grass, as well as clay. Not sure about the SMB, but my SoleCourt Boost feels great on the forefoot cushioning, even after 2.5hrs of singles on a Decoturf II hardcourt.

Well the comments from the TW playtesters about the SoleCourt Boost lacking in forefoot cushioning is enough to scare me off, and the additional 20% off clearance was enough to get me to try the ZZ's. $57 is a crazy deal, and I wanted to jump on the 25% off Wilson (with a free Clash duffel, which I was thinking about buying anyways) to try out the new Blade, so I have a very exciting order on the way from TW, happy early Christmas to me!

As much as I love my Peg Turbos, I feel like these high end foams aren't durable enough for tennis. Lunarlon used to bottom out quickly, and encapsulating React seems to kill some of its magic (see bball shoes). Even the 2h Marathon Zoom FLy thing had little Air Bubbles in the mid foot.

I was lured in by vapor x knits but went back to the zz. So much more comfort and response. Just wish they breathed a bit better.

So I was in the local shop yesterday and there was one of the old colorways that was on sale, only left in 2 different sizes. one of them was 1/2 size up from my normal size, but it was so much on sale that i had to buy it. i always had afraid that this shoe would give me major problems getting in especially after i put my custom Insole in there.

But what do you know ?? i was able to get into the shoe ok with my insole in there, and i walked around in it,,, and No issues, No tightness,, just Glove like fit...........WOW................. i will have to play test it, of course to see how Stable the shoe is. Because of my Custom insole, it sits up little higher than normal in the heel area. Not sure if this will make this shoe unstable or not ??? but so far just light splints in the basement of my house, no issues.

Wish me luck.............. Hope this shoe works out... one of the many shoes i am Testing since i am forced to switch shoes,,,,, Yonex eclipsion 3 suck now.

not had the chance to Playtest them yet. but I also got the pair of Vapor 10 today and I have been walking around in the hallway trying both of these. And I can tell you that Air Zoom Zero definitely has Thicker cushioining. Vapor 10 cushioning isn't bad but it is definitely thinner and more low to the ground. I have to playtest both models and see which cushioning I prefer. I always liked very cushy thick cushioning like Yonex powercushion. Zoom zero seem to be closer to that. I wonder if zoom zero is also good at returning energy back to your feet with every step. I need shoes that will help me launch into the air when I serve.

First pair I got of these were the GOAT shoe. Amazing fit and cushioning. Incredible to play in.

The next pair I had to send back to Nike because they were so uncomfortable and had no cushioning.

So I have no idea what to think.
