What was the last movie you watched?

That last movie with Liam Neeson where he avenges his son's death by some drug dealer. It is one of the worst piles of garbage I have ever seen. I didn't finnish it. If someone tried on purpose to do a bad movie it is not likely they would be as successful. Hard to watch Liam Neeson wading through this crap.

That truly cracked me up as I was reading your post and I was thinking, 'oh no' because, in all honesty, I've found most of Liam Neeson movies to be a pile of garbage. I like the guy though.

This was on a hole different level of crap though.

I think I enjoyed it for the most part. Some dark comedy in it. Seriously, I didn't mind it. It was better than his Taken movies that's for sure.

I watched this the other night :

I did like it... but I should have realized it was gonna be a romance movie. Some failed musician in a blackout gets hit by a bus and once he comes back, the Beatles don't exist. Imagine the horror without Sgt Pepper. Regardless, I enjoyed it. A solid 7.

A Civil Action (1998) - John_Travolta, Robert_Duvall

Similar to Erin Brokovich but made about two years before it. And where EB starts in 1994, this one culminates in 1990. True story.

Travolta is a lawyer fighting against some factories polluting rivers resulting in the death of several children. But the outcome is quite different from EB. Doesn't have the "feel-good" effect of EB.

I watched Time Trap - a hidden gem but a B grade movie given the budget and the cast, however but I really love these.

It has a very unique premise and some surprising elements you could not possibly guess. Wish someone had taken the concept and made it really a great sci-fi. I still enjoyed this one thoroughly.

Have also started watching The Young Pope (HBO). Intriguing stuff so far and very, very dark.

I also finished Big Little Lies. There are some intense moments especially in the 2nd season, but it still feels as if the whole show was made for the audience to keep them entertained and not simply telling the story as is. Feels contrived in other words. Great acting is what keeps it going mainly.

Saw Arctic (2019) with the wife on Amazon Prime. I like Mads Mikkelsen, but it was just, well boring. Ok you're in the arctic in a crashed plane and you're trying to survive. Someone else is with you who doesn't do squat. You're like awesome at survival and know so many things. But there's barely any dialog, it's mostly just seeing the expressions on his face, trying to feel what he feels w/o a backstory, so, yeah, meh.

Vita and Virginia (2018) - Interesting movie about the friendship between popular author Vita Sackville-West and Virginia Woolf.

The period depicted is between 1925 to 1935. Vita was married to a diplomat and was in Tehran for several years around 1925. They were close to the last Shah of Iran who was about 7 years old then, and his father.

From 1925 to 1927, Nicolson lived in Tehran where Sackville-West often visited him. Sackville-West's book A Passenger to Tehran recounts her time there.[22]:30 The couple were involved in planning the coronation of Rezā Khan and got to know the six-year old Crown Prince Mohammad Reza well.[22]:31 She also visited and wrote about the former capital of Isfahan to see the Safavidpalaces.

Woolf's novel Orlando is inspired by this friendship.

The Tenant (1976) - Roman_Polanski

A creepy movie (psychological horror acco to some) about a man who rents a room in a place where everyone is complaining about noise. A girl committed suicide in the same room a few days or so ago.

I was just having a conversation last night where the depiction of L.A. and the psychological profiles of characters in Polanski's "Chinatown" were discussed. Have you seen it?

Someone recommended The Witness [Harrison Ford; 1985?], so I'll be watching it very soon.
I saw that recently. Did I recommend it ?
They hide out in an Amish community. No that's another one*. But this one also has the Amish in it. An Amish boy.

Ad Astra. It was aesthetically awesome at times, but the story fell flat.

Don't worry @Zara , our ships and journey will be nothing like Ad Astra.

I haven’t seen Ad Astra yet but sounds promising - the premise. Although I am tired of the typical storyline.

Aesthetically awesome as in cinematography and special effects or are you referring to some chicks?

Cinematography, as it was pretty real feeling, but all I will say is it is hard to believe in movies with soundproof Mars rooms, space monkeys, moon pirates, and Mars water tunnels.

The story could be summed up in one sentence.

Is it on Netflix? Or Crave? I can't miss a sci-fi no matter how bad they are unless it's Alien Covenant. Have you seen I Am Mother? Very good and layered.

Much better avatar, who is that? No, it just came out to theatres. But I have wanted to see I am Mother.

Oh duh. I haven't been keeping an eye on the theatre so have no idea what about the latest. Try not to go in the summer. Good to know though. Maybe I'll go now.

She's an Indian actress. This one I did photoshop unlike the previous one that was already photo-shopped.

Just realized that I was actually aware of Ad Astra just forgot that it was coming out so soon.

But anyway, the reviews are extreme either way and that's when you know that you might be in for a ride. I typically dig this sort of films that get mixed reviews.

Rambo: Last Blood(2019) : Ex-Vet Rambo seeks revenge against the Mexican cartels who abducted his adopted daughter. It was violent but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Frankly, it's nowhere near First Blood and Rambo: First Blood Part 2, plotwise--who cares at this point in his career. However, for a septuagenarian, he still mighty got it and hey, how about the horsemanship? Impeccable!

In retirbution, 'I want you to feel my rage and my hate; I want to rip your heart!'' he did. Blood and Gore!

He can still whip that 73-year old machine. Kudos. Respect.

septuagenarian - Thanks, a new word learned. horsemanship - It never crossed my mind that he is doing that in his 70s.
Yeah, the plot was simple. Can't compare with the first two. But I think it was enough for a character that is old, has suffered a lot in war, PTSD, etc.
Finally when he has a family of some sort, it is being taken away from him. Kinda justifies all the killing too.
Really amazing that Stallone is aging like a fine wine.

The first Taken is a perfect action movie.
Another of which is Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol (watched it yesterday). The best Mission Impossible imo. Thoroughly entertaining nonstop.

Just now watched Universal Soldier (had seen it a as a little kid before). Not great movie for sure, but very entertaining and good action sequences.

I remember watching this as a kid, too. The final fight went on and on if I remember, but I did find it very entertaining. I think I may have seen the sequel (did I ?) but did not care for it.
