if it is true that the new election of the President of Player's Council will be held soon, like in a month or in a few months, than this is not the punishment.

I don't think resigning or being stripped of the Players Council Presidency is a punishment either. It's something that needs to happen because his position is now untenable.

A punishment would be a fine (which would probably mean little to him, as he is incredibly rich) or an extended playing ban (which would hurt him as a punishment).

Does Novak have a PR manager or is Jelena doing this job? His statement is poor to put it mildly.
All about himself and not enough apologetic while he's the main guy responsible for this mess.
Anyway, I wish a speedy recovery for everyone involved and no long-term consequences!

Expected to see him talk about some of the mistakes he did like having parties, no social distancing, full crowds etc he needs to actually acknowledge these things.

Good for him and Jelena. Then they can get over it and move on with their lives, while the rest of world hunkers down in fear.

it's not granted for this thing.
P Dibala tested positive after allegedly going healthy.

and it is not known yet whether Djokovic will take any damage to his body or not, lungs for example.
too early to celebrate.

then make up your mind.
cause initially you wanted his resignation from President of PC to be his punishment.
Now you say this won't be a real punishment.

So you'll be lining up for Bill Gates' vaccine day one, eh? Wipe out all dissenting opinions?
Bill Gates doesn't develop vaccines, he gives lots of money to try and help make some diseases disappear. Although I would rather have a coalition of governments financing this, I think it's a noble way to spend your billions.

Edit: he should pay more taxes.

If that would have been the first take away he wouldn't have organised it like this in the first place.

Lot of people seem to have that cognitive dissonance sadly.
Yes, I would not expect genuine self-insight from Nole or the other players on this. I think he has demonstrated that he just a poor judgment concerning all of this, and I don't expect that to change, sadly.

I'm just baffled that they cannot even cook up an adequate PR response and pretend to take some responsibility. Bad advisers you have to think.

What are you aruging with me for? Are you Djokovic's lawyer or something?

I don't need to explain to you how much punishment I think is enough for Djokovic. Either you are a rabid fanboy or you are bored and taking this "devils advocate" thing a bit far. Neither one is of interest to me.

More bad news from Adria......

Have there been announcements from Krajinovic, Danilovic and Zverev about their status?

Really feeling for younger players like Olga Danilovic whose interrupted and difficult season has now been further complicated just when it was looking like competition was a possibility in 2-3 months.
Zverev was negative but says he will self isolate anyway. His statement was a bit better than others - the benefit of having a half way decent PR outfit behind you.

Now Djokovic's body will produce antibodies which will provide him with a lifetime of protection, and he'll never have to worry about this again.

this is not true, from this nature article: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-020-0965-6, it might just disappear after 2 or 3 months
and in theory, virus is changing all the time so there won't be such thing as life long anti-bodies

but I agree it did ironically give him an advantage since nearly all the people affected gained some kind of anti-bodies: https://news.emory.edu/stories/2020/05/coronavirus_antibody_study_sheds_light_on_immunity/index.html

I doubt anyone's truly happy that he has COVID-19. That's just vile. Some people are feeling vindicated though as they felt it was too soon... The stands were packed, as if the pandemic had never happened. Others, like yourself, feel the need to throw stats around to make the man greater than he really is. But truth is he'll NEVER be greater that Fed or Rafa. Never... so let's just end this discussion here. I hope he and his wife recover soon and the little ones don't get it.

At first, it just looked dumb and careless. Now, after his statement it looks planned. I kind of thought that already, but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt that it was just a bad decision. Not sure which is worse.

That's how it's always been. I've genuinely come to believe that his family and advisors share the mindset of his loopiest fans, that Novak is perfect, entitled to universal adoration and only doesn't get it because the media/Federer/enemy aliens are conspiring against him.

Novak seems like a genuinely nice guy - he could have had a perfectly normal level of popularity (more than what he has now) if he'd been advised by people who saw the world rationally.

I think a great statement would actually help him very little, people have made up their minds about him anyway.

Also I'm not all that sure Fedal have that great PR, they just have everyone agreeing everything they do is great.

I think many had made up their minds aaages before any really weird stuff came out.

I tend to think his position as President is now untenable - which it wouldn't have been if he'd handled this better at the start.

Nick Kyrgios is a tw*t but he does have a point here. Players lower down the scale have been lambasted for far less.

******** is very irresponsible.
He should be fined and maybe suspended.

why not spanked?

and why not fine and maybe suspend everyone else as well?
players who joined the tournament, people involved in organization, spectators?
even better, let's put them all into US sanction list, so that no business or bank would want to deal with them.

He and Jelena will be completely fine. They are both young and healthy. I have known a number of people that have tested positive and have shown little if any symptoms. Besides being over 60, obesity and diabetes are at the highest comorbidities for the disease. Very few young health people suffer severe symptoms or hospitalizations.

No guarantee of immunity

But a decent possibility, which is pretty good as it is.

No guarantee they won’t be contagious

This is the real problem.

Djokovic is young and healthy, catching corona should be good *for him* as he's unlikely to develop complications and unlikely to get infected again after recovering. The scary thing about the virus is its rate of infection, so the healthy ones infect the less healthy who may develop complications or even die.
