Chelsea making no mistake last night.

Premier league will be given the option of allowing 5 subs again next season. We already have Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher saying ''oh, Jesus God, no.'' You can tell they long for the days of 2 subs and 1 allowed.

I'm old school, Janice.

Only two subs today. Was hoping for some more rotation, having two days less to prepare for the cup semifinal than Chelsea is bad enough. But a job well done for today. Martial has been great since football restarted. Rashford lively tonight too. Pity Bruno only hit the post after that fine counterattack.

In other news, a perfect 10 wins out of 10 since the restart for Real Madrid who win La Liga for the 34th time. (y)

Depressing end, we could have at least finished the season unbeaten at home but lost to 10 man Osasuna in injury time. Leo's great free kick is pretty much all the quality displayed tonight.

Real Madrid getting most 50/50 decisions their way has always been the case and the rest have to be ready for that, especially Barcelona who contend for titles with them the most. But we didn't handle ourselves well at all. With fairer officiating we could have been level if not above them, but our performances didn't deserve better. Lethargic in many games without any creativity if Leo didn't perform his best. On the other hand, Real Madrid have had a strong experienced spine in Ramos, Modric and Benzema, who all did their jobs superbly this season and gave Real's younger players the confidence. Zidane assembled a good mix of youth and experience which brought its results quickly after what was a catastrophic previous season for them. So credit and congratulations to them on winning the title. We need to focus on our problems and sort them out quickly. Because having one bad season is not the end of the world at all, but not preparing for the future and also not making the most of the final few years of the best footballer that's played the game is a sin.

I was very happy following the win against Palace. I just kept seeing a draw in my mind. The last couple of games haven't been up to the standard following the Fernandes signing. Then Palace actually did equalise before VAR ruled it out. Might have been fortunate to not concede a penalty.

Now on to big game on Sunday.

Martial, the man of 2020.

I've got to say, it makes me feel old when players who are younger than you start to retire

I liked Schurrle, hard working player who was capable of moments of brilliance when you really needed it. 29 is pretty young, but you can understand his reasons.

Then I play NBA 2k and 10 years in, Kevin Durant is 40 and still has a 90+ rating. 29 seems like you're just a kid. Stanley Matthews was still in school at 29. :p

Damn,, hard to believe Leeds have not been in the premier league for 16 years. They are finally back after securing promotion last night. Yes, I will say, welcome back. (y)

I enjoy his videos. Short, sweet and to the point.

Sergio Ramos is clearly using sixpad.

Why not?

I propose we abandon next weeks birthday. I'll stay at 30 for another year and you can stick at 47. Should slow down the hands of time a bit :p
I'll drink a diet coke to that. haha

Agreed, nice to have Leeds back. I'd like to see Brentford get the second automatic spot, they've been flirting with it for years.

Nottingham Forest through the playoffs would be good too. I imagine they would be going straight back down, but it would be nice to have them back for awhile.

Kind of hoping West Brom don't make it. They're only 10 minutes down the road from me, but the whole "boing boing Baggies", promoted then relegated straight away thing gets a bit boring.

I've been watching City and Arsenal. Has a bit of it's coming feeling from City but Arsenal looking hard to break down. Holding on to their lead. Close free kick there from KDB although the keeper was ready. Only one shot on target. Problem identified.

Pep getting the subs on with a good 25+ minutes left. (y)

Quite something that.
Still a lot of work to do, but Mikel seems like he has the potential to do something with the club

Great week for Arsenal, beating England's top two. Nice brace from Aubameyang, they better make sure to keep him if they want to progress. Arteta suggested in some recent interviews that they will have to be backed by the board in order to have any chance. Hope they solve the problem. Though I despised them during the good old days, I kinda miss the strong Arsenal after seeing the club struggle for so long. For the same reason I am happy to see Leeds back. One more rivalry to be hyped about next season.

Hope United join them in the final tomorrow. Chelsea have struggled in this match up this season but they have had two extra days of rest for the cup match, tough to call this one...

Some changes. Williams in at left back and, Fred in for Pogba and James for Martial.

Chelsea started better. Some good pressure on United.

How stupid do you have to be to let your guard down like that in the final moments of the half after 50 quiet minutes... Chelsea were better in the first half though.

Looks like you will be getting your London derby. Yeah, not over yet but I can't see United getting back into this. United sent out early in the second half and then Mount scores straight away. Ole must be fuming now. Oh dear.

Even without the De Gea blunder, Chelsea been the dominant male in this match. Shutting us down each time, and eventually forcing the bad pass. Rinse and repeat. Far more threatening on the attack. The formation change didn't help matters.

Mason Mount will be getting bonus coin from his deodorant contract. He got it done today.

I really did want United to win the FA Cup. Yes, champions league is the priority (Tommy Shelby style) but the old wining a trophy culture thingy. Chelsea not letting it happen. On top from start to finish.

Frank the tank and why winning comes first. :p

Poor from almost everyone. Only Fernandes and Matic looked ok. Chelsea totally deserved it. I hope they go all the way now, after beating Liverpool, Leicester and United just to get to the final.

Yeah, Liverpool, Leicester, United then Arsenal is a pretty tough run. Arsenal are playing well at the minute though, so should be a good final.

We've probably had 10 performances like that all season, and 10 which have been equally as bad. You never know what you're going to get with Chelsea at the moment, pleased they saved one of the good ones for today though!

Mount was excellent, indeed. James and Kovacic were the other stand outs imo. Giroud was Giroud, which always helps.

Solid performance from the blues. About time after united beat us 3 times this season.

But tbf, united had a slightly weakened team and looked tired. Chelsea to their credit to advantage.

2019-20 La Liga is over.

Real Madrid are champions. Their attack has been predictably weakened since Cristiano left, and in this La Liga season after Benzema (21) and Ramos (11!), nobody scored more than 4 goals. But most of the other players delivered them here and there which combined with strengthened defense aided by possession based game got Los Blancos the title. As I already said, they will always be pushed by the officials, and 12 of their wins over the past few months were by just one goal, but Barcelona didn't show anywhere near enough quality football this season to be considered deserving of the domestic crown even by the most biased fan.

Atlético continued with fine form they had before the break. Their Champions League qualification for 2020-21 was in doubt but they finished the last sixteen La Liga games unbeaten and comfortably sealed third place in the end. A high total of 16 draws, most of them happening in Autumn, denied them a chance to compete for the title. Sevilla managed to maintain their consistency throughout the whole season unlike in 2019 and are Spain's fourth CL qualifier.

After qualifying for Europa League last season, Espanyol finish dead last in this one. Good riddance. They will be joined by Leganes, who needed a win tonight against Real Madrid today but could only draw. They are going down to Segunda after three consecutive seasons in the top flight, a good showing from them since their La Liga debut in 2017. Mallorca went down a year after being promoted, not even close to recapturing their glory days. Celta narrowly avoid relegation, kinda wished they didn't since their ground has been toughest for us to play on in recent years. But from a neutral perspective it's nice to see them with their attacking talents remain.

The other two teams who were promoted last summer exceeded expectations. Osasuna finished 10th while Granada even sealed Europa League qualification with dominant displays in the last month and a dream start back in August-September. Villarreal went in the opposite direction of Espanyol, after narrowly avoiding relegation last season, they finished 5th in this one led by Cazorla and Moreno. Last day was dramatic for the Europa League spots, and it resulted in Valencia and Getafe completely missing out on Europe.

Midtable has been filled by Bilbao, Levante, Valladolid, Alaves and Eibar, unsuprisingly, while Betis have been one of the biggest disappointeds in this season without Quique.

As for Barcelona, the club finishes with the most convincing victory of the season, 5-0 away triumph over Alaves. This is only the second time since 2008 that we haven't contested the title race until the very last day. In 2012 Real sealed the title with two games left, just like now in 2020. In 2017 they won it on the final day and in 2014 Atlético held us to a draw when we needed a win to beat them to La Liga in the title deciding match on the last day. The remaining 8 La Liga seasons in this time frame were won by Barcelona, only two of them on the final day - 2010 and 2016.

These numbers are a testament to how great Barcelona have been domestically and the reason why not being on top of Spain even for a year is quite a disappointment. But now more than ever there is a need to reflect and be self critical, because other than Camp Nou games in the first half of the season, this has been a season to forget both in terms of results and performances. Leo summed up it up perfectly in a recent interview that Barcelona are a weak, unstable team that gets beaten by intensity and determination and concedes easily, with the impression that they need to concede a goal in order to step up and play properly, but sometimes by then it's going to be too late. The club will face Napoli in the Champions League in 20 days, after drawing 1-1 in Italy. It could be our final match of the season, it could be one of the remaining four. Who knows. Due to the current state Barcelona are among underdogs rather than favorites, so a bad result can be forgiven. But bad attitude won't. The boys better use these three weeks to regroup the best possible.

He's never excluded himself from the players criticism, even now when he participated in around 80% of the club goals since Setien arrived. La Liga legacy of our captain has now grown even more.

With 25 goals for this season, Leo has finished the season as the top goalscorer in Spain's biggest competition. Nothing surprising, and not even a high number by his standards, though he missed a few games. But why is this one special?

The Pichichi trophy is given by Marca to the top goalscorer of the season. Bilbao's legendary striker Telmo Zarra held the record of 6 of these accolades since 1953. Until today. After 2009-10, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19, La Pulga has won a record breaking seventh Pichichi trophy in 2019-20. In the meantime, he has tied Hugo Sánchez's and Alfredo Di Stéfano's record of four consecutive Pichichis too.

EdUkLsJWAAA7b8g

He also registered a 21st assist of the season today, breaking Xavi's record of 20 in 2008-09. He outperformed one of the best ever midfielders in his biggest virtue, and now holds the single-season and all-time record for both scoring and creating goals in our league.

A first ever double-20 in La Liga history as well, recording at least 20 goals and assists in the same season, and second to do this in any top league in this century alongside Thierry Henry in 2002-03.

And with today's brace, he is only ten away from Pele's record of most goals for a single club. The official countdown can begin. 643 looked untouchable for decades but now it's a matter of when, not if. Apart from wanting a change in Barcelona's board, extending Leo's contract is the thing I am praying for the most next season. Immense contributions every season for well over a decade.

Do you get the feeling that it might be time to move on from Messi? He's still the best player, his legs might be slowing a bit but his mind is as good as ever. Still, you get the feeling that Barcelona need to rebuild if they hope to get back to where they were 8-10 years ago. I'm not entirely sure that's possible with Messi there, for as long as he is, they're always going to have one foot in the past.

Ferguson was the master at knowing when it was time to move on if they wanted to get better down the line. I can't help feeling that Barcelona might need a bit of that this summer.

Barcelona have one foot in the past because half the current squad are veterans from the good old days. Pique, Alba, Busquets and Suarez are still regular starters. Rakitic and Vidal to a lesser extent. All of them above 30. Having seen a lot of football before money took over, I am a bit of a sentimental guy and wouldn't be happy to see them leave all of a sudden but for the greater good they need to be pushed out by the younger more energetic generation in a year or two. It's no wonder that after Leo and Ter Stegen, the next best rated performers this season were Fati, Puig and De Jong. Two La Masia products and a long term investment. Put another 3-4 players of that quality and potential around Leo instead of the players I mentioned above and it's quite a different picture and mood all of a sudden.

Everyone who wants better for Barcelona is aware there is need to rebuild. But Messi contributes way too much still to be one of departing players. After Xavi and Iniesta left too early, same happening to him would be crushing. One club men are a dying breed at this level as well. Would be a sad ending to what has been a fairytale story for him and Barcelona.

As a neutral I'd rather see Messi play at another club to see what effect he'd have in a new team. Like Fergie at Man U or any other great player or manager elsewhere Messi can't go on forever and now would be a good time to rebuild.

I don't think Guardiola had that much hair when he was 14 :p

Frank looks like he's got a shellfish allergy. Either that or he's gone 12 rounds with AJ.

I'm curious about the PS5 though. I don't play all these fancy games they come out with these days, but i'm interested to see how the sports games look on there.
