I think that is how most people feel once they are away from the competitive nature of it all. I really dont see Fed and Djoker having such disdain for each other after they retire either.

Anyway, I think that we have derailed this poor thread. We can defend the Gold Medal this year.

Roddick tried his version of the chip/charge but got burnt by the surprise 2nd serve/volley, that's all that point is lol. It's just made to look worse because Roddick tumbled at the end lol

Roddick's volleys were just all around terrible. Not only the timing, not only the technique, he didn't get the basics of how to approach and where to stand at the net. On a fundamental level he was not a volleyer

Machan, I wish I had saved the link. It was a New York times article that St Petros posted here some months ago. He's not here anymore so I don't know how to get a hold of him. I can run a search on duckduckgo.com and see if it comes up. Of course, I read about it in the days after the final (2006 US Open) but hoped there'd be more websites carrying it.

Good point and this may be one of those things people see from different angles. To me it showed the mentality of a man resigned to being repeatedly beaten but I can understand your point of view.

There used to be a highlights package "The best set Andy Roddick ever played" which was about this set, can't find it anymore though. Also the passing shot Arod hits at 4:04 is a shot I don't think any next genners could pull off.
