The WC script was leaked!!!! Does Djoker win?

So here is the exact script with a few uncertainties, but for the most part it is what we will see in the final.

Outline:
  • Berr gets broke in first service game
  • Berr gets broken in last service game of first set
  • 2nd set is close, but Djoker breaks late
  • Berr puts up a fight in the 3rd, but cant come up with the goods
  • Djoker wins

Serve:
  • Berr struggles on first serve percentage and gets wrecked on 2nd serve
  • Djoker easily holds due to poor ROS
  • Berr's 2 punch gets neutralized by Djoker hitting returns deep
Groundgame:
  • Djoker exposes Berr backhand by hitting to it and then doing one of two things: 1. Coming to the net to finish points 2. Hitting the second ball to the forehand making him hit a running forehand which Walmart Delpo cant handle
  • Djoker utilizes low slices to neutralize the forehand and cause Berr trouble
  • Djoker uses angles to expose Berr's terrible movement

Mental: Do I even need to?

I can't give credit for how that FO ended. Maybe if he lost in a close 5 setter. But that was a straight sets drubbing after the first two sets.

5th set was pretty competitive. He took the 3rd and 4th for granted in my opinion. Next Gen mentality just isn't right for any of them. Wouldn't call any of them mentally tough. They have flashes but not enough to be considered mentally tough to many.

But at least Tsitsipas made it interesting. Even if the last 3 weren't that interesting. Shapovalov couldn't even do that.

True I guess. But after a decade of the same thing, I can't just say "give them time, they tried their best."

Do you think people give Mcdavid or Matthews a pass? No. Only in tennis do we see this crap.

For me it's about expectations I guess. I can see Tsitsipas being a multi-slam champion. I'd be surprised if Shapovalov even wins 1. Margins for error in his game are too thin and he's not some mental titan either.

I mean he already had gone to 5 twice here as it is anyway.

I can see how if someone has gaudy expectations for Shapo today was an abject failure, but it's like you said - we expected it.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't think Tsitsipas might actually win the FO final. I did for a moment. That's more I can say of most Next Gen matches.

We have seen almost every NGBS worth mentioning fail at the big level. Tsits and FAA get a slight pass due to age or coming through at least once.

I hoped for better, but alas...

Shaps might not be the best of Next Gen, but I actually like watching him play a bit, which is more than I can often say.

Can't blame you there. Dropped what, 2 points on serve until he served for it? Hard not to call not winning the first set anything other than bitterly disappointing.

If he had at least taken care of business there maybe I'd be more ready to give him this credit people seem to think he has earned.

I'll give him credit for getting to the SF. Don't have many nice things to say about the SF itself though.

Does Djokovic deserve credit for USO F 2007?

Most of TTW doesn't seem to think Djokovic existed until 2011, so probably not knowing that.

TTW is historically very harsh on the losers. Losers of matches much closer than the one we saw today.

Now if you're saying to let Shapo grow and judge him later on - that's fair.

I can do that without giving him 'credit' for getting easily beaten today, however.

I hope not but I'd hardly be surprised.
Final: 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 (Novak, obviously) Could flip the 1st and 2nd sets around, maybe.

You heard it here, first.

Alternatively, best case scenario

6-3, 6-7 (or 5-7), 6-1, 6-2 - which in my book, probably isn't more competitive, even if it's 4 sets.

It was NOT a routine straight set match. He hit Nole off the court earlier in match and Djokovic himself acknowledged that Shaps could have won first two sets

You are entitled to your opinion. I respect it, but disagree. It was routine. NID. Predictable to a T pretty much. And I'm no Nostradamus, the match thread echoed the same sentiments. Yeah, sometimes in the form of being overly negative...but nothing about todays match was unpredictable.

It had one lopsided breaker and that was the closest set of the 3. Shapo converted what, 1 of 11 BP's was it? Something like that.

I think we have different definitions of 'routine'. And of course Djokovic is gonna say that. What's the gonna say instead? "Yeah it was super easy, my opponent is a choking master"? No lol.

21 year old Nole lost in straights to 26 year old Federer. He deserves WAY more credit than 22 year old Shapo losing in straights to 34 year old Djokovic.
26-21=5...
I thought age difference is 6 years, as we heard million times here... But when it suits you agenda you make 20 yo Novak as 21 yo...

Should we start using 5 years and 285 days?
No, 6 years is ok, as we here on TTW use all the time (Novak fans could ask for not using 6 years because it's less, but we never do)... And then suddenly he writes 5 years because it suits him at the moment... Off course, he will be back to 6 years when uses age excuse for Federer... Lol...
