2023 Yonex VCores

Tommy is playing great with the stick . He doesn’t paint lines any more though like with the he blade but more free power and spin . I did not like the vcore 98 at all unstable . And less control

I enjoy the ezone 98 305 much more or the 97d but is not maneuverable.
Also the new Yonex string for $10 dollars is not that great

Anyone with experience with both the DR98 and the new VC98 ?

I've landed on the Blade v8 16x19 after years with the DR98 - with a bunch of unsatisfying frames in between - but the DR98 is still my favorite.

I'm mostly happy with the Blade but am curious about the new VC98. 61 RA vs 62 RA, roughly the same weight and balance, etc.

Ok you guys... and gals...

You HAD to laugh when Tommy Paul sent 3 groundstrokes about 15 feet long. Including the set point one because he looked at the racquet head with a look of HUH??? WHERE THE H... DID THAT COME FROM?

All I could think of when I saw that was... I guess the VC98 suprise happens to the best of us!!!!

On that note though... his game with the VC98 has definitely improved and you could sure see the VC98s spin effect on his groundstrokes in the ralleys. Gotta love it when commentators are saying he's discovered extra speed as well.e on his serve.
Tommy really looks incredible. Incredibly consistent. Amazing backhand. Touch volleys. Ton of power and variety on serves. Will be interesting to see if he puts a dent in Djokovic. Because to me their style (not skill level) is pretty similar.

Forgive me if my answer is in these threads...I looked the best I could ..
Has it be determined what version of the Vcore 98 is Tommy using...?

even if he serves bombs won’t be enough

I’m expecting straight sets

Tommy done so well to get to semi, I see him making a fun match and a novak v Tsitsipas final
Totally agree. But I do wonder if his speed and consistency will challenge Novak a bit. But I agree that's the most likely outcome.

Don't think Tsitisipas is making the finals. Karen is in beast mode.

Tommy speed is crazy hence why I think some fun points
i can also look at his racquet more closely

not watched any Tommy matches
Aside I have reports of a wilson diagnostic machine

Measuring flex of the 95 from 65 to 63
I went for the 65

I will hopefully test the 100 tomorrow

it will be strung with blue PTP

Have fun! You've waited long enough.

A guy in you tube has posted a review of the 98 and says the materials in the new frame for him seem cheaply made and it’s not up the usual yonex standard ..

i really hope this isn’t the case but a bit shocking to hear .

Has anyone played with a vcore AND a head radical mp? I feel like they are similar frames on paper (?) does the vcore have a little more control? Does the VC 100 still have enough control compared to the rad mp?

Or is this all an optical illusion in my mind created by two vastly different frames which only share bright orangey, hot pink, reddish cosmetics?

I have demoed the new Rad MP multiple times and just picked up a demo of the new VC 100 - will report back tomorrow or Friday.

360+ radical mp was hyper manueverable like no other racquet and I've tried a zillion racquets... also just quite a bit different than a vcore, much less power and more control oriented... less ball pocketing stiffer string contact etc.

This guy is all about the clickbait. Same one who said 2022 EZone 98 destroys your elbow.

Nah he's legit. His views on rackets and strings are strangely similar to mine, but our styles are similar. I don't know why people get so butthurt over the ezones stiffness.

Some people just hit differently than others...

As for the cheap feeling it probably came down to spec....

2021 VC95 was way more maneuverable than Rad Mp g360+. Rad is like 6 pts HL strung and 325+ SW. Vcore 95 is 7.5 HL and sub 320 sw.

He's not very good and shares trash opinions because of it. Is that too blunt? lol

One line was, "I hit two of the exact same serves and one went into the net and the other went long." Does anyone really believe that is possible?

You think he's bad so he can't say a tennis racket was uncomfortable?

Plenty of people out there making content playing a lower level than this guy.

I just don't get why people get so defensive
I own a 2023 VC98. And a 2022 EZone 98. His takes are just silly.
And when you are the only one saying a racquet is uncomfortable it's either:
1. bad string setup
2. bad technique
3. clickbait
I'm guessing 2 and 3. 2023 VC98 may not be everyone's perfect racquet but it's very plush and comfortable. That's an objective take.

You're telling me you're a Yonex fan boy and haven't once visited one of the largest 2022 ezone thread on this forum?

Got the EZone but it wasn't right for me. Now my son has taken it for his own. And I joined in December. lol

Suppose I'm dumb for even bothering to watch his video and comment about it. My bad.

I don't go by stats I go by demo'ing and swinging them. 2021 VC95 felt like a tank, a hammer in my hand. The radical mp 360+ felt like a feather that can be manipulated in any way with ease it was amazing. Radical had such a perfect ease and effortlessness of swinging its sooo maneuverable like nothing I've ever felt before

Ok so have my 100 now

comparing it to a 11 year old frame xi98
definitely the materials are cheaper made than 11 years ago …

i would add the 100 doesn’t look that large in head size

Iv added 4 inches of lead at 3 and 9 just to confirm is that 8 or 10 swingwieght points added ?

stock was 317 what does that make it ?

Depends if you mean 4" on each side (2 x 1g), or 4" on each face (4x1g), and assuming it's 1/4" Lead Tape at 0.25g per inch.

2g would be 4pts SW, 4g would be 8pts SW roughly.

Time to return my Vcore95 demo
Overall I am quite pleased with it but I would like to try the 2021 version to see if the differences are so big to justify spending 269€ for a single racket

Any further thoughts to before Matt

did you feel it needed lead

the 100 has a massive sweetspot
I’m strung mine at 56 lbs with smaller gauge crosses

I have a feeling these frames won’t be as good as the xi98 luckily I have a bunch of

I think the 95 will need 6 inches of lead from 10 and 2 downwards

Won’t speak to soon but feel lucky I have these xi98 I don’t think I will find a better racquet than it . Will see tonight

I should have a 95 next week too but will string that with yellow ptp prob high 40s

The retail layups across all the OEMs are nowhere near as good as they used to be, primarily due to static weights coming down, so there's less material there than before, but also because the grades of graphite can and do vary (not the fault of the Chinese, but moreso that the OEMs just don't want to pay to ensure quality). There's a reason why, for example, Head Kennelbach only buys its graphite from Mitsubishi for its pro stock frames. Another example is Prince frames from the mid-90's and earlier when they still had their Thailand factory -- the level of solidness on contact is noticeably better than any Prince frame made today, even at equal weight. We live in a time where companies are the best they ever have been at sustaining minimum-viability, much to the chagrin of many hard goods, tennis racquets included.
